recently visited delicias Niicaraguense Restaurant in Richmond/San Pablo and unfortunately had a disappointing experience again. The customer service felt disorganized and lacked attention to detail. On multiple occasions, my order took longer than expected, and there were mistakes with the food and honestly over priced. Which I am always willing to spend on good quality food. While I always try to support local businesses, especially within my community, the overall experience made it difficult to justify returning. Consistency and communication seem to be major areas that need improvement, both in service from actual owner and order accuracy. 1st shame on them, 2nd time shame on me 3rd es que sos vavosa for going back and giving them a chance. Food was delicious, service was okay. The server doesn't write down orders, she goes by her memory so constantly kept forgetting little things like getting our drinks. Wait time is long after ordering but they were busy on a Sunday afternoon. Price is reasonable because food exceeds expectations. Came in today for my birthday to finally try this place and it did not disappoint!!! As Nicaraguan American this tasted like authentic Nicaraguan food I've had with family and reminded me of my grandmas cooking! Love that we have place in the east bay! I've been searching for a great Nicaraguan restaurant for a long time. Las Tinajas in SF is just too hard to get to. Most Nicaraguan restaurants don't have Nacatamales on hand because they are so popular. I'm married to a Nicaraguan and, after going to Nicaragua and eating their Nacatamales, I've been on the search for great tasting ones and, more importantly, a place where they are in stock! Well, this is the place. I bought five to-go and my family gobbled them up for dinner. The people who work here were super helpful and I appreciate you helping with my food and helping me order. I really look forward to eating there soon because it was beautiful and clean inside. Everything was soooo yummy. However, they only have nacatamals on certain days. They are out of Milcas, Rojitas. The hospitality is nonexistent. I walked in, no greeting. I paid, the young man couldn't be bothered by me. You coulda sworn I was bugging him by spending my money there. lol. Which this service is common by young kids nowadays. The ambiance was very dead. Give a second chance to this restaurant! The food was better than last year when we were here. Service is a little slow but better than the last time we were here. The waitress was polite and friendly, ambiance was nice. One thing I will recommend is to share if the prices are updated, you don't want a surprise at the end of your meal and time to pay the bill, which I got charged on some of the plates between $1.00 to $3.00 additional from what they got on the menu. The server tried to say is taxes are added on to each plate but what's weird is that after those add ons there is a $9.12 tax on the bill, so tax on top of tax?? Does not make any sense!! They ran out of items on the menu quickly, which can be a good thing pending whether it is because they are busy and not because they are low on stock. 4.5 stars! The food is very authentic. I ordered the carne asada plate. The gallo pinto was perfect with crispy rice and fresh, tender beans full of flavor. The tajadas verdes were crispy and clearly made fresh. The carne asada was a thick, rope-style cut just like in Nicaragua. The salad needed more lemon (el agrio) and was a bit dry, but the server explained they use less because some people prefer it that way, i guess i could have ask for a extra lemon. My wife enjoyed the baho. We had buñuelos for dessert, which were great, and ordered nacatamales to go, which were absolutely delicious. The ambience is pleasant, and the service is excellent, friendly, and attentive. It is a little warm inside with no air conditioning, but I highly recommend this place. There is parking on the side of the building and on the street. Very authentic, and I will definitely be back. My son is already heading back for more nacatamales. read more
