Came here extremely tired. All we wanted was a place that was opened early for some food. So glad we came! Here is were I discovered the simplest yet most delicious way to eat tomatoes. PAN CON TOMATE. Simple crushed tomatoes with olive oil on a soft slice of bread and Jamon Serrano. It was grandious and life changing. The coffee latte was good too, especially for the jet lag. The sandwich with an over easy egg was excellent too. Sitting near the street on the outside is the best way to enjoy it. There is a section called breakfast of champions - I had the "deportista" which was super copa vista (yogurt parfait with honey and walnuts and fresh fruit) and Peggy toast (scrambled eggs on tomato and toast) for 7.90 euros. Excellent meal! My parfait came out first and really hit the spot with some health fruit and yogurt. It was a rather large portion. The Peggy toast was so simple yet so good. Perfectly cooked eggs. My hubby has the Mexicana - ranchero eggs with rice, beans and guacamole also 7.90 euros. I tried a bit of the rice and it was flavoured very nicely with some butter and something else. He enjoyed it too. Service was friendly and the lady spoke Spanish but we all understood each other. read more

This bar is close to Plaza Santa Ana and stumbled upon it & it immediately became one of my favorites. The main reason was because they had amazing Mexican nachos... went back a few weeks ago and they looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for them. I had gotten them maybe a month before! Have been here a couple of times before, when the drinks were ok, but imho way overpriced. The bartender is a decent guy, but the ladies are unfriendly. We were there tonight and despite the cold we agreed to sit outside, as they only wanted guests ordering food inside. Understandable, but be so kind as to allow guests to take some loose cushions outside to sit on. After a friendly request we were barked at. That is no way to treat your guests- who basically pay for your bills. read more

Had the most perfect brunch at Miranda. My breakfast was the "athlete" or "sporty" one or something in that realm as far as the name on the menu goes. The bread was so soft and toasted, with a tomato spread and topped with scrambled eggs. Very good! But the parfait took the show. It was HUGE and had big chunks of apple, pear, banana and pineapple in the bottom, then crunchy cereal flakes, granola, and yogurt topped with honey and walnuts. Beautiful restaurant, wonderful food, lovely people! We drove in from Lisbon and arrived too late for dinner, until we found this place. The food is simple and well executed. The caprese salad is particularly fantastic; my partner enjoyed the Iberican burger, and I ate my entire truffled omelet (which is really a frittata). The mojitos are amazing, and we came back for breakfast the next morning, which was also fabulous. The bacon and potatoes are perfection: crispy & salty. Everything was wonderful. We were semi-desperately hunting for a place with decent fish and vegetarian options and some level of acceptance for our seriously inadequate Spanglish. This was a very short walk from our hotel in Plaza del Cortes and both food and service were excellent. The tapas were sorta modern/fusion style, no fried boquerones to be found here, but they were a good break from the nonstop Spanish fare we had been on! We also ordered a couple of Asian-Spanish entrees for our mom who is mostly vegetarian and we ended up eating all her food. *bad* Good mix of modern and traditional. Beautiful place to spend an afternoon on the Veranda. The veranda is misted so as to cut the heat of Madrid's summer. The veranda is surrounded by the huge stones of the building and shelter the patron from the sun. We sat inside the bar which was playing 60's Motown music and watched the staff work. I just finished having a great breakfast here! I got brunch (toast with chicken and avocado) and it was the best meal I've had in Madrid thus far! Lots of locals eating breakfast but they also have a menu in English if needed. It's decorated very nicely and it's possible for you to sit outside if you wish! I love this place. During a month in Madrid, I went here when in need of something slightly more substantive than fried bar food. The staff were friendly and attentive, and didn't seem to mind my American accented Spanish. The salmorejo - thick, creamy gazpacho with jamón - was as good as I've ever had it. I travel to Spain often. My wife and I love to have dinner in the center of Madrid usually. But we never had dinner in this restaurant. Yesterday, we did it and it was wonderful. The best , the variety, but above all we liked "salmorejo". In our travels around Andalucia, we tasted it in Cordova, but my wife said that this was better. For main course we asked for two specials hamburgers and I think that were above of the best new york burgers level. The home made deserts, delicious. Ah! the bill amount was in harmony with the quality and quantity, although thinking better, it was cheap. Almost they speak in english. Definitely, I recomend this restaurant for all the people visiting this area. It s one of the better restaurans that I have ever visited, without a doubt whatsoever. read more

I had a bowl of salmorejo, solomillo with an unusual and tasty grape sauce, and flan. The young waiter was very quick and friendly.
