We had a guide who recommended this restaurant. From the moment we walked in we could absorb the utter celebration in the air. We were immediately seated at a very comfortable, roomy table. The waiters were outstanding - explaining the various options for newbies like me -especially the paella. We ordered various many items, including paella, and everything was great, hot and delicious. We were not rushed in the slightest. To cap off the wonderful meal were were provided with complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. They made our group of three feel like VIP's. Had a great meal last night and learned how to make an authentic sangria? Didn't know sugar, brandy, gin and orange juice were part of the ingrediEnts. The staff knows their stuff when making sangria from scratch. We had a great time watching and drinking. The food here is quite tasty as well. Their speciality is paella as there are many different types to choose from. We made sangria in groups and enjoyed potatoes and olives. For dinner, we started with a Cesar salad with anchovies and shaved Parmesan. Then came fried calamari with green peppers - the peppers were excellent and not spicy at all but I like my calamari crispier. The we got some scrimp doused in oil and garlic. We also had some garlic bread and steamed mussels - both excellent. I had the black rice paella and my hubby got the mixed paella. They were both excellent. The wine was plentiful and we polished off our meal With flan - it wAs different and pudding like. We also got lemon squares or bars - needed more lemon and then the. Lemoncello type dessert. A little strong for my taste but had to try it. Very nice meal and fun way to start Our first night in bArcelona. We'll worth the price. Highly recommend. Utter chaos once you walk in, a waiter will aggressively show you fresh (live shellfish) to choose from for them to cook for you. He will pressure the table to take them all but do not give in! Although the food seemed well prepared, I did not get a chance to enjoy it, as the hurried and very rude waitstaff destroyed my meal. I had ordered the La Barca special Paella, and as soon as it arrived, our waiter stirred everything together, smashing the shells of the crustaceans and shearing off their antenna. Very tourist trappy and not cheap. We kinda got hustled in by one of the outdoor waiters as we couldn't decide where to go for lunch. When we sat down there was already sausages, olives and several breads at our table. We were confused if they were free (only the sausage was free) so we pushed it all aside and told the waiter we didn't want any of it. The menu was quite extensive and most dishes were over €20 and we were just looking for a quick light lunch. We found some options under €20 (mussels, chicken and hamburger). To be fair my mussels were very good and everyone enjoyed their chicken. The hamburger was not traditional and my son did not like it and he is not very picky. Also contributing to the tourist trap vibe was singers and a photographer walking around working for tips. We had good service from our waitstaff and they gave us complimentary treats at the end of the meal but the overall experience was not great. But unfortunately when you go to a restaurant you expecting a good service which this place does not have: the host basically expected us to guess which table to get, that was to start. The Ultimate Tourist Trap - stay away! Aside from the fact we ordered 1 paella and 1 pitcher of sangria, the total was about $86 USD!! That price for 1 dish + 1 pitcher is insane!! Aside from the crazy the prices, the meal gave us a stomachache within an hour, followed by food poisoning the next day. Came here last night for dinner. To begin our server was not very attentive, and at the beginning we were his only table. Had to ask another waiter for our check and were told our own server would have to bring it to us. It tasted good, however 3 hours later my husband got REALLY BAD food poisoning. Im 5 months pregnant and was freaking out thinking i could also get it and possibly put my babys life at risk. Stop! Don't eat here. It is seriously a tourist trap. The taxi tells you he will take you to one of the best places in town with great prices. He drops you off in front of the restaurant where they are waiting for you with open arms and service. They also pay him off for taking you there, you can clearly see this in plain sight. Our pocketbook was pillaged. Our first day in Barcelona we asked the hotel staff for a good seafood restaurant and they recommended this place. We took a taxi there. It was by the water and the staff seemed welcoming. We got the "tour" and was shown the fresh seafood. I despise seafood but my husband loves it. They told him they would take care of him. He didn't order from the menu. My alarm bells were going off all over the place. They brought a plate of Iberian ham and two large prawns. A plate of paella. I had the chicken and fries which I picked at because I was afraid of food poisoning at that point. You are charged for the bread they bring to your table. Our total bill ended up being more than $150 for lunch for three people. There is a menu of the day for locals or people who ask for it and can read and speak Spanish. If you MUST eat here demand this menu BUT.... A wise teacher once told me: verbum sapienti (sat est) which translates to A Word To The Wise is Sufficient. We came here on a recommendation from my sister, but apparently you're treated very poorly by wait staff if you don't order a lot. I came with my husband (who speaks Spanish & is latino) and we just wanted a few drinks and dessert to check out the atmosphere, but instead we were asked for our order 5 times within the first 5 minutes. With plenty of space for families and large groups, this restaurant was perfect for my family of 5. Clean bathrooms. Now the food- the paella was stuffed full of seafood and was delicious! We also got the grilled seafood platter which had a variety of seafood. The house bread didn't disappoint and their on the house dessert of almond cake topped off the night. The waitstaff was attentive and super helpful especially when helping us navigate the menu and pick foods for our kids. I wish I got his name but our waiter was all sorts of helpful. We came to this restaurant by a recommendation. It was my first night in Barcelona and I wanted to start my vacation with some great seafood. Just to give you an idea of how much we loved the place, we came in at around 6:30pm and left around midnight. Yes, it is not a typo,we spend there five and a half to six hours, and we loved every minute of it. This is what our dinner consisted of: Appetizer: - grilled bread with some tomatoes and olive oil - deep fried mix of seafood: fish, shrimp, langoustines, calamari Main dish: - whole orada fish, baked in salt - special mariscos paella, with lobster, razor clams, clams, mussels. Drinks: - two pitchers of sangria Everything we tried was more than amazing. Fresh seafood cooked to perfection. Service was outstanding! To top it up, our server Antonio got us some desert and two bottles of coffee liquor, Licor Hierbas Olave, on the house. Unbelievable dining experience! I contacted the restaurant via FaceBook messenger and 8 months later still no response so here goes. Yes! Still upset over this since I feel as tourist we were taken advantage of. Visited this restaurant with a friend while on vacation and I did not want to cause a scene. We absolutely loved the shrimp and our entire meal until we found out we were charged $72 for 4, yes 4 not 4 pounds, for just the shrimp. We had to ask the waiter for the account breakdown because he only handed us the total with no details of the charges. He said he had given it to his supervisor for review. That was a first! Then he insisted that we add a tip which is not a custom in Spain, yet it was already added. Help me understand why they have charged us $72 each for this plate??? Excellent food and excellent service BUT you do pay for it! We look this up on yelp in the airport before boarding our flight to Barcelona. We looked at the table length platter of seafood the entire flight to Barcelona, talked about it the entire flight and looked at the pictures. We said that was the first thing that we were going to do when we landed. We landed at 7 AM, taxicabed it to the hotel, dropped our stuff off at the hotel, walked around a little bit and then went straight to the restaurant. We were the first ones there to eat, we were brought over and shown all of the first seafood that was there. Beware of the barnacles (percebes)! They are delicious but we spent €90 on them. We ate and ate and ate and ate. They brought us dessert with a bottle of grapas on the house. We really needed that grapas when we got the bill. Everything's market price and nobody told us what everything cost. We spent €250 on this meal! And that was for lunch! This was when the dollar to euro was $1.30! read more

We arrived here early for lunch. Good thing because it became very crowded very quickly. Originally we set out for a walk along the ocean and I told my wife I'd like some seafood. When we walked by La Barca and I read there menu, it took me about 10 seconds to decide I wanted their Imperial Special for two. The place was already buzzing as we were ushered to our table. Started off with a nice Alsacian beer, AK Damm, olives, and tomato bread. The waiter asked if we'd like any mayo, garlic spread, etc for our seafood. I told him I wasn't sure, so he brought us all 3. Note: loved the garlic spread and the other tomato vinegar like spread. So then the imperial platter arrived. I do not joke when I say it was enormous! The platter ran the length of our table and was piled high with muscles, clams, razor clams, lobster, shrimp, prawns, and langoustines. Now that's how you get your seafood fix! Yes it was pricy at €96 for the two of us, but worth every penny. We couldn't even finish it. And when they brought the check, they also brought us complimentary grappa and cakes. Simply wonderful!
