La mejor experiencia en Barcelona!! Visited Barcelona for a few days and we stopped by La Cova Fumada in Barcelonetta. It's a small family owned restaurant with the best food! Service: very busy, small restaurant. Be prepared to wait for a table. It's worth it. The owner is very kind. Food: 10/10!! Delicious Catalan food.

Super hole in the wall spot that I happened to walk by and saw how popular it was. I saw it was super crowded so I waited outside to go in because I could feel like it was special. I stood at the bar and ordered my food. The calamari was so good with the perfect amount of garlic and seasoning. I'm still thinking about that bite today. The tapas are pretty affordable and I enjoyed every bite even though I went by myself! I actually went twice and it was just as good!

Love this place! We wanted a local small spot for lunch with good small tapas. This was the place we were lioking for. The tapas was flavorful and delicious. Grill artichokes, bombas, and sardines were delicious. Ambiance was just a hole in the wall with friendly service and no fuss decor. Just a simple spot with great tapas and cold beers. That's all you need.

This place is such a hidden gem! There was a long line for a table outside when we were there, but we were willing to eat standing at the bar and so we got a place immediately. The restaurant is tiny and gets super crowded, but I love the atmosphere & vibe! Everything here was super fresh and delicious. The bombas is to die for, I love the grilled squid, octopus, cod, etc. A family run operation that's a hole in the wall with a mix of both locals & tourists. Highly recommend!

We have been planning our Barcelona trip for 9 months and couldn't wait to try La Cova Fumada from all the YT videos and reviews. We spent $40 in cab fares to get 8 of us there and proceeded to wait line. We got to the hostesss and we asked for table of 8 and she said no table and they don't do groups. We said how about 2 groups of 4 and she still said no even though we save groups of 3 and 4 get seated. We then said how about 4 group of 2's and she still shook her head. We felt discriminated either we were tourists or Asians, either way it was terrible how we were treated. We were happy to spend our $130 for lunch elsewhere. We went to Can Vilaro where we greeted by the owners and welcomed and had a fabulous meal. Never had we felt so unwanted in our history of travel and trying different restaurants. Do not give these snobby people your money. Many many other fine restaurants that are appreciative of your business. Rating - F

A small whole in the wall. The seafood tasted fresh and flavorful. However, don't think it was worth all the hype, wait, and price. Definitely not kid friendly as it's very small and busy, and you're often sharing a table with others or standing.

Bacalao with oil and tomato was so delicious!

The place is casual with a very friendly, attentive staff! Very tasty, juicy and delicious food! We had Bacalao, 2 bomba, sardinas, calamar, morcillo, sangria for 2, 2 water. 40 euros! So good! We will be back for more bacalao!

EVERYTHING is great here, fresh seafood that simply just grilled and seasoned with olive oil and sea salt. Portion are small so you get to try lots of options which I like. The only item that was not the best I've had was the razor clam (Provenir won) The best best bomba, we had one each, the old man next to us by himself had 5 bomba himself, and I was like, you ate 5!!! And he said- I can eat 11 of this (through body language) You will see lots of elder people come here enjoy themselves with the beer and amazing seafood while reading newspaper. Love it!

We just beat the rain to Cova Fumada and were looking forward to a great seafood lunch. The place is tiny and very busy but we were seated in a few minutes. This is a family operation with even the grandmother manning the small kitchen. The clams, sardines and pan con tomate were the stars with the squid and octopus close behind. All items were garlic heavy and some were a little too salty for my tastes. Make sure to have your google translate handy as there are no English menus.

Hands down my favorite places in Barcelona! They only serve lunch and make sure to go early!

This was outstanding. The only disappointing thing was that we only came here for a second lunch just as they were about ready to close and couldn't order more than we did. As it was, we got artichokes, squid, and octopus. (We had originally come here because my wife wanted prawns, but they were out by the time we sat down.) The artichokes were great, but it was the seafood that really blew us away -- the octopus in particular was one of the best I've had anywhere. We'll definitely be coming back here for a fuller meal next time we're in Barcelona.

Very flavorful and fast experience. Oxtail and mashed potatoes 10/10: the oxtail meet is so tender and flavorful. The mashed potatoes pair so well with the oxtail. Mushroom, steak, and egg yolk 9/10: soo flavorful and balance of veggies and protein. Amazing textures and flavors. Sparkling sangria: 8/10 I don't normally live the taste of alcohol but this was great. Not tooooo strong and if tastes pretty good if you mix it with the orange juice. Fresh orange juice: 10/10 so tangy and delicious. I can't recommend it enough. Patatas bravas: 9/10 solid no complaints! Dessert Tapas: - bread dessert (Tarija): 11/10 amazing dessert that is creamy, cameralized, and has a mochi like texture. This fried chewy dessert is not too sweet and such an affordable price. - coconut pudding 9/10 solid and refreshing if you like flan - bread, chocolate oil, salt 7/10: I live the complex flavors. The chocolate mousse was light and the bread to mousse ratio was perfect. It's a smaller dessert tho I wouldn't recommend it if ur sharing. Service: amazing! Staff I'm everywhere so it was very easy to order more food. Also we were sitting buy the area where they made dessert and they allowed me to record them making it!! Comfortable ambiance great for date night or casual meals!!!

This restaurant was literally right next to our stay in Barcelona--skipping it felt like a crime,…read moregiven the rave reviews. So, on a rainy afternoon, we gave it a shot. We arrived just after lunch opening and were the first customers. The guy at the counter was... efficient. He simply told us to pick what we wanted, tossed it in a bin, and that was that. No explanation of pricing or preparation methods. When we asked how they'd cook it, he casually offered "fried or grilled." Obviously, we chose grilled--why fry fresh seafood? We picked two giant prawns, two octopus tentacles, and two fish (since hubby can't have shellfish). He asked if we wanted salad or soup--reviews hyped the soup, so we went with that. Then he handed us a receipt, told us we were order #3, and sent us to the bar. At the bar, we ordered two sangrias and a water. The bartender asked if we wanted bread and sauce. Sure, why not? We assumed they were included. Surprise! The tiny baguettes cost €0.50 each, and the mystery "house sauce" (a questionable mix of thousand island and horseradish) was an extra €1. We only realized the charge when we saw the total: €73. Oh well, too late now. Then came the food pickup experience--chaotic, to say the least. The server practically barked at us to bring our receipt, aggressively crossed off items, and handed over soups and octopus, crammed onto a greasy tray. No effort at plating, just food haphazardly dumped onto plates. The second round--grilled fish and prawns--was more of the same. Now, the verdict: Soup (5/5) - Delicious and reasonably priced at €6. Would order again. Bread & Sauce (0/5) - Not free, not worth it. Hard pass. Octopus (€31.80 for two tentacles, 1/5) - Overpriced, greasy, and drowning in molten salt. Basically, eating a sodium bomb. Grilled Fish (€10.50 & €8.50, 3/5) - Decent, but unnecessarily oily. Grilled Prawns (€5.59, 0/5) - Mushy, not fresh, and borderline inedible. Final thoughts? Not worth it. With so many incredible food spots in Barcelona, why waste your meal quota here? If you want quality seafood, go to Cervecería Catalana--we spent €5 more, but a meal a thousand times better. Spend wisely and eat like a king.

I've had fried anchovies before but this was too heavy for us - Octopus: This was a bit oily but but not as much as the anchovies. Potatoes were nice and soft and absorbed all the sauces. - Small Clams: My favorite dish out of all we've ordered. Although the clams were small, the sauce it was cooked in was delicious! [Service] - Line up, order what you want, some seafood have various cook styles so they will ask you which you'd prefer, pay, find a table, and pick up at the pick up window once your buzzer goes off. [Ambiance] - Mainly indoor seating with 2 tables outdoors [Overall] - Would come back again as I love this kind of seafood eateries! Will definitely try other dishes next time as well

Two of us picked 5 types of seafood, a salad and a fish soup. We tried the sangria as our drinks. Everything is beyond fantastic! We would highly recommend this seafood gem to all our friends. Here are a few tips for the first timers: 1) The workers at the order area don't understand English well. We pointed at the seafood for ordering. 2) Recommended to have the fish soup over mixed salad as an appetizer. The fish soup is made with lots of fish and ginger; and it carries so much flavor. 3) The mussels are a must-have and are so cheap (Under 10 Euros for huge portions). It's recommended to prepare in two ways: white wine and tomato sauce 4) The La Paradeta sauce (I e. A green basil sauce) goes very well with shrimps and razor clams. 5) The fried calamari was so delicious and perfectly paired with drizzles of lemon juice. Yet, it's so expensive (24 Euros for a very small portion). It doesn't feel as worth it as compared to something like lobsters (29 Euros/single lobster). 6) I noticed many people ordered a bottle of wine instead of Sangria. Will need to try next time!
