Coffee shop with sandwiches (panini or wrap), soups, salads and smoothies. Breakfast stuff too. Not familiar with all of Detroit Lakes restaurants, but this beats Perkins and Country Kitchen! I had the seasonal Blackberry Spinach Balsamic salad with chevre and toasted pecans. Terrific! Had a chocolate chip scone too. I was thinking a coffee shop would have lots of baked goods and treats, but all I saw were two types of scones on the counter. Didn't notice anything on the chalkboard menu either. The scone was pretty flavorless. (I will admit to being a baked good snob...) One in our group ordered a mango smoothie and loved it! Something the on-line menu or chalkboard menu doesn't mention is that they do offer gluten free bread options for any of their sandwiches. One in our group ordered the veggie panini on the gluten free bread and had a fruit cup instead of chips. It wasn't anything special, but did the trick. read more

This is my favorite place in town. It's a family owned business and you can feel the love and heart they put into the place every time you walk in!!! INCREDIBLE staff and service (shout out to Kara and Cara ), excellent food. I recommend the breakfast wrap (comes with yummy chipotle sauce) for breakfast, the grilled veggie wrap for lunch, and my fave drink is a frappe made with cold press and half a pump of vanilla. Honorable mentions include an iced vanilla chai with a shot of espresso and the north woods flatbread. ENJOY!!! read more

My boyfriend, cousin and I stopped in after some shopping around town and we all enjoyed our experience. It's a nice little place and we felt the price justified the delicious food we got. All of us got a sandwich, with chips, and pickle, plus beer cheese soup on the side. Everything came out exactly how we ordered it, and very quickly despite there being a couple of other tables waiting for food as well. The staff was very friendly and worked well together, we will for sure be coming back next time we're in town. Definitely recommend if you're in the area! Get the beer cheese soup. read more

I got the strawberry chicken salad and the chicken looked like it had been thawed out. It looked like fake chicken. I was expecting grilled chicken... fresh but it was far from it. Also ordered a lavender honey latte and that was ok but had it better a different time. Pretty disappointed because their food and coffee are on point. Stopped by for lunch with some co-workers. I had not been here in over 2 years. Lots to choose from. Salads, wraps, paninis, breakfast food, etc. I ordered a Chicken Bacon Ranch Panini. Co-worker people got a salad each. Plenty of liquid refreshments, including large variety of beer and coffee, to choose from. Settled for some lemonade. Not bad. Food was good and service was fast. My boyfriend and I ordered soymilk (lactose intolerant) and neither of us got soymilk and were sick the entire night and next day. This is a decent place to eat and usually to get coffee but we were very disappointed. If a customer orders a milk substitute they deserve the order to be correct because not only do we pay more for it but many of us need it. It might be "trendy" to order that way now but many of us whether it's a dietary deficiency, vegan or just preferred taste our orders should be respected and correct. read more

La Barista is inside the mall. Yelp's map wasn't accurate or helpful for an out-of-towner. The space is great and their menu looked very appealing for food items. Everything was clean and the staff was very friendly and efficient despite being quite busy. I was only interested in a good cappuccino when I visited today. Admittedly, I am a terrible coffee snob. I asked about their milk steaming practices and requested they stop steaming mine at 140°. My capp was served in a disposable cup (I strongly prefer ceramic), the milk was over-steamed, and the espresso was weak. It wasn't bad compared to the big chains, but compared to *serious* espresso slingers, it wasn't very good. I would definitely go again, I just wouldn't expect an exceptional espresso beverage. read more

There have been many coffee/cafe businesses come and go out of this location, but La Barista has proven itself to be the most established of them all. If I were to choose anywhere in DL to have lunch, or get a chai latte, it would be La Barista, and it usually is the only place I get lunch when I'm in town. The food is spectacular...and all made fresh in house! The caprese panini rocks my world, but really you can't go wrong with any menu item. And don't forget dessert :) I love La Barista!! read more

I was able to find a quiet spot to work, which involves skyping, and was not disturbed. There are seating spaces for individuals, small groups, and large groups.
