They also gave us a complimentary basket of French bread when the soup arrived. The soup was a generous portion, topped with broiled comté cheese and baguette pieces. First time have authentic French Onion Soup and I can say this was magnificent! The soup had copious amounts of perfectly cooked onions, these cheese was layered on perfectly, and baguette absorbed the luscious soup so well! I would highly recommend this as a starter. About 10 minutes later my entree arrived. For my entree, I opted for the Sea Bass Fillet which came with seasonal vegetables. This was a simple yet very tasty dish. The sea bass was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The vegetables were also cooked nicely. Needed some salt, but so do most meals in France. A very balanced, fresh meal that is sure to please. I tried some of my friends mashed potatoes that came with her entree--and WOW. They were whipped with lots of butter, just heavenly! Overall, L'Atelier du Marché provided a very nice meal for us. Some of the staff will not bring coffee to you till you ask two or three times. Also, one day the hostess seated us in a section that is closed. I had to go up to the coffee bar and ask someone there to assist me. Ate here for 5 mornings in a row during our stay at the Le Meridian.

When the dish I initially was interested in wasn't something he would recommend cooking as much as I'd prefer (medium rare), he redirected me to a delicious slow cooked beef dish that had an amazing sauce and absolutely felt apart. My husband ordered a pork shoulder with polenta that was also really good. I normally dislike pork but this was a dark meat cut from Spain that was very tasty. For dessert I had a dish with cream between layers of a thin pastry with a dab of chocolate mousse. My husband opted for a rum cake of some sort where the bottle of rum was left with us to add extra. It was quite strong! I really wish I knew what exactly everything was as it was so good and I feel silly having to strictly go off my visual descriptions of it after the fact. My ravioli in cream sauce was seasoned well and the crispy chicken on my husband's Ceasar was very crisp without the chicken being dry. What was exceptional was we were given water, our server paid attention and knew when we were ready to order, the drinks and food were delivered hot and fast, and to my shock, our guy checked in to make certain everything was okay and nothing else was needed. If you are traveling and tired and just need someone to take care of a meal this place is the real deal.
