Oysters
Joana Z.

We present La Belle et la Barbe, a restaurant which on Tuesdays will instill a Pavlovian response of salivation and excitement with its " tartare à volonté ". This all-you-can-eat comes with its share of crispy fries, a fresh salad, as well as some crackers to go along with the feasting of- you guessed it- tartar. Everything is " à volonté ": salad, fries, and crackers. On the menu was a vicious three-pronged attack of tuna, beef, and salmon tartar that would reboot your dopamine receptors; yes, it's that good. We had excellent service and the price was DEFINITELY worth it (28$). The oysters are also 1$ from Sunday to Thursday and they have a wide selection of drinks and wines for everyone's taste. We definitely recommend reserving before, since the place is small and if the terrasse is closed, the indoor seating isn't big!

Toujours mets, accords et service 5*! Je recommande à tous une sortie extravagante dans cet endroit moderne, branché et à l'écoute des tendances, produits d'ici, etc.

$1 oysters

Love their $1 oyster special! Went there on Monday night for some oysters and bubbly and decided to have dinner there as well. Was suggested the platter for 2 people which included a variety of meat for $40/person. Although price was reasonable, the taste of the food was just ok...nothing to be amazed about. They also have a Tuesday all you can eat tartare but haven't tried it yet. Fair price and ok food.

All you can eat tartar

Surprising discovery. I went for the all you can eat tartar. We had the choice between beef, salmon and tuna. All 3 were very good but lacked flavor. The meats were fresh but there was no "wow I can really taste this ingredient". I loved the yuka chips! On the side you get amazing fresh fries and a simple salad. The place is huge, decor very hipster and modern. Very quick and friendly service. The music was too loud.

Great food and good services. The atmosphere is nice but little loud some times. I love their boudin noir. Just lovely!

We wanted to try the Tomahawk but it wasn't on the menu so we decided to do steak on another day. To drink we ordered the apple cider. The cider was delicious and very crispy like I was eating a Cortland apple. We were served crispy bread with herb butter. The bread was crispy like toast and the butter was soft. It came with a small jar of baby dill pickles. They had a good crunch! We started with the lobster bisque. This bisque was very tasty. We could taste the lobster and it was very light; not a heavy or overly creamy soup. Pooh ordered the seafood risotto and I took the Dijon chicken. Both dishes were amazing. Pooh really enjoyed his risotto. He likes the addition of zucchini to give it a little crunch . The seafood was cooked to perfection. My chicken was super tender. I could taste the Dijon mustard. The mashed potatoes were smooth and the green beans were crispy and cooked perfectly. Our server was very polite and checked on us regularly. He apologized for not getting the wine when our meal arrived. Our only complaint was the wine. Usually the wine arrives right before the meal but our meal arrived first and we ate slowly as we waited for the wine to come. The wine arrived five minutes later and the server explained that it wasn't cold enough to give us. By the time I finished eating (because we had to wait for the wine) my potatoes were cold. We finished our evening with dessert. I had the lemon-in-a-jar and Pooh had the Crème brûlée. Pooh's crème brûlée was perfect. My lemon dessert was too sweet. The tartness of the lemon was overpowered by the sweetness of the almond crumble We enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent but they need to put the white wine in a cooler sooner.

I order a salmon meal. The salmon was tasteless but thankfully the sauce helped it. The mocktail was good. They had quite good amount of people there on a Sunday but definitely had open tables if I wanted to sit at a two seater but they suggested I go to the bar which is huge, but no one else was sitting there. Overall an okay spot, nice inside, my one dish was mediocre but not sure what the other dishes taste like.

The little gnocchi were appropriately textured, with a nice pesto sauce to go along. It was filling without being overbearing. The lemon flavor in the gnocchi was a brilliant addition. The salad mentonnaise used really fresh radicchio and pine nuts. The orange vinaigrette gave the salad a really nice touch. I chose the French onion soup and salmon entree, my mom went with the escargot to start and the pork chop for her main. The soup was so rich and delicious, my mom loved the snails. The salmon was cooked perfectly and my mom also enjoyed her pork chop. We also ordered a side of Brussels sprouts which were super tasty too. The portions were surprisingly large so we couldn't finish everything. They had asked us to switch tables partway through dining to accompany a larger party, which was fine for us and they offered us a complimentary dessert for the trouble. Since we were stuffed, we took the dessert to go. It was a deconstructed dulce de leche cheesecake and it was rich and so tasty. Would definitely return!
