    Mixed salad

Is it possible to celebrate your anniversary twice in one week? Short answer...yes. We celebrated again at dinner tonight in Montreal. This was a quaint restaurant with a French feel...conservative paintings, breathtaking chandeliers and ornate ceilings. This Michelin restaurant was popular as there was a constant flow of diners. We again had appetizers, entrees and shared a dessert. Appetizers included lobster bisque and mixed green salad. The bisque was smooth and creamy.... seasoned extremely well. The mixed green salad has a finely drisled dressing. We had salmon and lamb breast. I had not heard of a lamb breast...only lamb chops. This lamb was the best I have ever eaten...super moist with light gravy. We ended our meal with shared cheesecake. Our server, George, was so delightful. He was humorous, engaging and so attentive. He is one of the best servers we have had in some time. We will definitely come back to Bonaparte and ask for George. Another memorable anniversary meal...

For a relaxing, romantic fine dining experience, definitely make reservations. Restaurant Bonaparte is truly a stand-out in Montreal restaurants in terms of food, atmosphere, and service and is in one of our favorite memories in Montreal. We were seated by the window which was lovely. The cocktail list had so many interesting and delicious sounding cocktails that it was hard to choose. Each came with a card with a painting of a partially clothed woman and description of the cocktail. I got the Ah! Camomille which had a lovely base of chamomile flavor with honey and floral flavors. It went well with the lobster. Our waiter took excellent care of us. Even with two other tables with one larger group of four or five, our conversation could be easily heard. We had such a lovely dinner and relaxing experience, my husband even ordered an after dinner coffee, which he never does. We will definitely return the next time we are in Montreal.

Pleasant ambience and a wonderful setting downtown. I had the mushroom ravioli and it was beautifully presented and phenomenal to my palate. Service was top-notch.

Had a wonderful experience for a late dinner. Did not have reservations but the maitre'd got us sat in a flash. Beautiful space, well decorated and cozy. Josh, our server was excellent and the assistant waiter made sure our experience was top notch. Really impressed with the entire staff, everyone seemed to be putting forward their best effort. Food and drinks were excellent!

We came to visit Montreal for our first wedding anniversary and we' we're looking for a beautiful, elegant restaurant with amazing food and to celebrate, well we found it! The restaurant is located on a side street with those beautiful cobblestone roads. It is part of a hotel, you enter the hotel lobby and then the bar area and then one of the three dining rooms. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming and congratulated us on our anniversary. The menu for food, the cocktails and wine list were very eclectic and expensive. We each had a glass of wine. My wife likes Sauvignon Blanc. I had a Bordeaux blend. Both were amazing. I had the homemade mushroom ravioli and a cream sauce. My wife had the mixed green salad for appetizers. Both were amazing! I had the tofu with the seasoned vegetables which was exceptional. My wife had the filet mignon which she said was one of the best she's ever had. We also had an old-fashioned, which is the best one we've had since we've been in Montreal, and the dessert was a hazelnut chocolate cake, which they put a sparkler on top to celebrate our anniversary, which was such a nice touch! The photos online do not do the interior of this restaurant justice. It is really beautifully decorated, warm and elegant.

The place is gorgeous. Loved the decor. The service was on point. I most say the food was somewhat of a let down. Only the lobster entree stood out. Everything else was mediocre, lacked coherence, and even lacked salt. The wine pairing was a complete failure. Every wine was too sweet and did not pair well. It felt like it was just thrown together.

Yelp Montreal Family!!! You did not lead me/us astray!!! I came on to Yelp trying to find a restaurant who had availability for our group dinner last night and between the stellar star ratings, tasty pics, and appetizing menu items, Bonaparte restaurant looked very promising. My friends and I are staying in Montreal near the convention center for a conference and we needed a restaurant in walking distance that had a fairly decent variety of food for the different dietary restrictions and palates. We also didn't want stray too far from local cultural cuisine. In comes Bonaparte restaurant! We walked along cobblestone Street in old Montreal to the quaint Bonaparte hotel with restaurant on the corner. We were greeted graciously by the hotel front desk, receptionist in a beautiful lobby, adorn with chandeliers. When we went into the connect restaurant, the host was wonderful and gracious. They said us quickly and even add on an additional person to our table. Our server, Catherine, was excellent from start to finish. She gave excellent recommendations and was wonderful with her attentive service and very pleasant demeanor. Half of our party opted for the tasting menu - which they all loved - and the rest of us went with à la cart menu items. From the blueberry mocktails to the onion soup with au gratin bread to the incredible salmon with grilled bell peppers, my meal was nothing short of excellent! I thoroughly enjoyed everything. To close out the meal, Catherine recommended the Le profitérole for dessert and it was so very delicious!!! I highly recommend anyone coming to Montreal visit Bonaparte restaurant for a wonderful, French Quebec/Montreal restaurant experience.

Wonderful old French style restaurant located inside the hotel Bonaparte. Great service and delicious food! We ordered from the a la carte menu, however they also had a pre fixe. But we wanted options such as the grand marnier soufflé that was not included in the pre fixe! So make sure you like the courses in the pre fixe before ordering. Ordered lobster bisque, which was perhaps one of the best I've tasted. And the foie gras poêlé, which is the seared one! I know it's so bad and inhumane. But oh too good to pass up! Especially when it's banned in New York nowadays. Oh how I've missed this. Also got the layered tofu with veggies, which was excellent! It was a firm tofu! And the mushroom ravioli, which had large chunks of mushrooms inside. And to top off. We had to end with the grand marnier soufflé! Wow! Wow! Wow! Truly Parisian!

Wow, what a classy beautiful and classy restaurant! The staff are friendly and excellent in their job. The service was impeccable. We had three course meal to celebrate my birthday. I started with the soup of the day, with sweet potato, squash and carrots. It was heartwarming. Then my main platter was lobster à la vanilla. The aroma was enchanting and the taste was out of the world. We finished the dinner a classic crème brûlée. So succulent. It's a high end restaurant therefore the price is super high. Overall worth it.

We were celebrating a special occasion and wanted a special meal to match. Wow! I was looking forward to this meal for weeks but I was absolutely blown away. Every single person from the waiter to the bartender and the host was so kind and so helpful. They explained everything and were so attentive. We did the full tasting with a wine pairing and every dish absolutely blew me away. Notably were the lobster bisque, the mushroom ravioli, and the dessert trio. The little cheesecake was phenomenal. We were given French wines: a bubbly, an "orange wine"two reds (a Burgundy and Bordeaux), and a 100% pear wine. They sat us in a romantic little table right against a window overlooking the streets of old port Montreal. We had an intimate, extended evening experience, and amazing food over the two and half hours we were there. Expensive but so worth every penny.

We liked the food and the service was excellent. The plating was a bit too foo-foo for my taste and the taste was not that impressive. Would we come back for our anniversary dinner here again? Maybe if we are in the neighborhood again!

A great experience. The staff was pleasant and accommodated us even though we did not have a reservation. They patiently handled our menu questions and slightly modified the recipe to accommodate our taste. The food was excellent! The decor was full French and would be okay for well behaved kids. Definitely a great visit looking for top notch food. They had a tasting menu but we ordered the best as appetizers and entree. Leak was a light potato cream taste. Mushroom raviolis were scrumptious. Shrimp vanilla was perfectly cooked and the fillet mignon was delicious.

The French toast absolutely lives up to its reputation and did not disappoint. The caviar eggs Benedict was just okay. The pancakes that accompanied the caviar were too soggy, which took away from the dish. Overall, I would come back to try the dinner menu because the atmosphere and some of the food were great. Plus it didn't have capers which imo overwhelms tartares. Duck with carrot: as a Chinese person I've had my share of duck but this might be the best duck I've ever had in my life. Then the leg had the perfect crispy fatty skin to meat ratio. Yum yum this is a can't miss dish here Burger: husband got this. I took a bite. It had a nice smoke to it and was perfectly medium rare. For my appetizer, I had the black pudding croquettes with a pear sauce that was simply divine, and for the main, the bison flank steak was cooked beautifully--tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. My partner's meal was equally special, with each dish showing the same level of care and precision. We went to Joe Beef the very next night, and while it has a reputation, Le Pegase absolutely blew it out of the water. BEST "BYOB" FRENCH BISTRO DURING RECENT TRIP…read more This is the best dining experience in our recent Montreal trip. I'm glad we made reservation since the place was quite packed when we arrived. To be honest, our first impression wasn't too great. We were seated in their main indoor dining area which was a bit too warm. We asked if we can be moved to their fully covered / heated patio area, but unfortunately the restaurant was full. Fast forward 15 minutes, we have placed our order and were enjoying our bottle of wine and a basket of bread. Our server came over and offered to move us to the patio area since a table had opened up. We were pleasantly surprised because (1) we didn't ask again and (2) most restaurants wouldn't change tables once customers started eating/drinking. The restaurant setting is unpretentious with a casual and cozy vibes. The staff are so friendly that we feel like having a family dinner! They offer a pre-fixe menu in which we thoroughly enjoyed! For appetizers, the escargot dish gave us a pleasant surprise. They wrapped the escargots and blue cheese sauce in a thin crispy crust! It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like having an escargot "crepe"! The few main courses we chose were excellent, and the rack of lamb was probably our favorite - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, their creme brulee was one of the best I've had - creamy custard topped with a perfect, crisp caramel top. I'd highly recommend this place, and will certainly visit again when I'm in town next time!

Cheese & Charcuterie board is as what you imagined. It can't go wrong. Rack of Lamb was good. I do recommend highly. It comes with our 4-5 bones worth of protein with potatoes & veggies.
