I used to get my brows waxed. But someone mentioned to me about, threading. I had no idea what she was talking about. But, I decided to check this out! I was so tired of the pain and the redness of waxing. When I went to La Biotique, I was very nervous. My thoughts were how does this so called dental floss technique work? To my surprise it works perfect! No redness and great looking brows. I was very happy with my brows and will never go back to waxing. Thoroughly disappointed. I am an avid eyelash person but this time due to short of time and not further researching where to go I decided to give this place a shot with my lashes. They lasted ALL OF A NIGHT. I know the rules to lashes, sleep on back don't wet face don't rub eyes. And when I woke up the edge was already coming off. Super disappointed. I call to see if they could help and they state there policies is just one time and they don't fix!....that's horrible service any eyelash person would offer at least a discounted rate for a redo. If you would like the little hairs above your lips waxed, you can do both eyebrows and lip for a discounted price. I would say it was a good experienced for the first time, the woman who did my eyebrows did really good and was really friendly. So it was good service, the woman who did my eyebrows was Nikki and she is the only one who does guy's eyebrows there. Word to the wise working here, listen to your customers. Do not assume what service they are coming in for. Ask the client what they would like done and how. If it is attainable, provide the service. If it is not, consult with them. It is very important to communicate in this business. There are three women working here that are amazing to work with. They greet, ask about which service you'd like, do a wonderful job, and even give you the receipt. Today I had my eyebrows threaded by a woman that had no idea what she was doing. The pain caused was not necessary, and they look awful. No customer has to be subjected to this nonsense and neglect. Take your profession seriously. read more

Dear Maine, I hope this is not your only experience with eyebrow threading. La Biotique sets a terrible example. I hate to bash a place when they don't have any yelp reviews, but I'm pretty unhappy. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded for years...it's very popular in Rhode Island and there were plenty of places to get your eyebrows threaded in other places that I've lived. I like threading better than waxing -- it usually hurts less and it's fast. Not at La Biotique. To start, the woman working there wasn't very welcoming. I don't usually care about that because typically you are in and out within 5 minutes. I don't really understand the threading technique, but this time it hurt!! I mean, it really felt like my skin was burning. My skin actually felt sore for at least 24 hours. At the time, I didn't mind that it seemed to be taking longer than usual because I assumed she was being very careful. Turns out, she actually got rid of more hair than any other place I have been to. Usually people just follow the natural shape of your brows -- she seemed to assume that I wanted stick thin brows. Um, I'm lazy...so that's exactly what I don't want. I hate plucking and I just get my eyebrows threaded once in a while so that they do not become completely unruly. I didn't look my brows closely until I got home...turns out they are thinner and uneven. I'm so disappointed. It's not the type of thing that others may notice, but I certainly do! I have coming to La Biotique for sometime.I just love this place.So friendly and so very very clean!All the women are all great and do wonderful on eyebrows.Personally I only use Ruby , my eyebrows were really bad but she made them look great.She explained what I should and should not do so she can work to make the brows just like I want them.She always has time for me and I will be going every 2 weeks just to clean them up. Awful. This place used to be somewhat decent, kind of hit or miss. Tonight I had my brows done by the new employee with blonde hair. She barely said anything. I told her to just clean it up a little and keep the shape. Well, she made my eyebrows uneven and got rid of the growth I'd spent months working on. I made it known that I was not satisfied and she was like "oh I just did what you said.." And wouldn't look me in the eye after that. Then again I'm not sure she looked me in the eye before that either. She wasn't friendly to begin with. I'm so sad. Save your eyebrows, ladies. This isn't the place to get them done. read more

just got my brows done here because i saw a blonde woman here 6 months ago who spent lots of time with me and did an absolutely amazing job. this time around i had a brunette woman who was super unfriendly and didn't even speak to me. not only did the process this time seem more painful, but it was much quicker. she literally spent 30 seconds doing my brows. no effort at all. i looked at them and they're AWFUL. i thought a good look at them once i got home would improve my opinion but it only got worse. the left one is all thinned out and full of bald spots from her cutting it too short. the right one looks like she didn't touch it. i have strays everywhere and i feel like crying after this experience. i went 6 months trying to grow my brows out and she's not only ruined that but made them so uneven it's embarrassing. i don't think i'll be leaving my house till they grow back in. i'm mortified. read more
