Recently, Noelle allowed me to undergo an awesome transformation from bright "Playboy" blonde to a deep brown that I absolutely love. It was a big change that I was nervous about, but Noelle and I talked a lot beforehand to figure out exactly what I was going for, and how best to take care of my hair afterwards. I let her know I had a wedding coming up and I chose here because they explicitly advertise low maintenance highlights that grow out without harsh lines. As soon as I got back from the shampoo bowl I noticed my blonde was multiple shades lighter than anything I would be able to keep up with, and panicked a bit. Kristen acknowledged it was a lot. When we looked at the line of where the highlights started versus my root she expressed understanding that this wasn't super blended and tried to put some color on it to fix it. There were also spots where the bleach bled, so there are random (literal) spots in my hair that are much brighter than other areas (see pics). I was stressing since this was the very front of my hair that would show in an updo, and the side of my head looked like there was a bald spot from the bleach lol. She assured me I could come back to get some lowlights or some kind of correction so I tipped well and left, despite being pretty anxious. I reached out to Kristen the next day to schedule a fix like she said and this was her response: "Sorry you're not happy with your color! I feel as though my hair coloring technique isn't what you're looking for and another artist will have the technique you're looking for. In this case, we will refund you for your service." What??? I have two weeks until a wedding and if that's not your technique, then why do you advertise highlights with "optimal brightness without noticeable lines or harsh grow out"? Such a strange way of handling it when you don't deliver well. Leaving me high and dry, stressing out trying to find an appointment somewhere rather than fixing it. And I personally think if you can't fix highlights that don't look good or bleach bleeds, you shouldn't be doing highlights in the first place. Like I said strange, disappointing experience. I can see that someone else on here had a similar one, too. Also the owner responded to my google review by accusing me of making the stylist feel "unsafe." The same stylist who had me get my phone out while I was in the chair, look up her personal instagram, follow her, and told me to reach out to her on there to book a lowlight to fix my hair. Very strange thing to do with someone you feel "unsafe with." Accusing me of making the stylist feel unsafe and trying to shame me into deleting my review rather than just admitting they handled this situation poorly and didn't have the ability to deliver or fix their mistakes just underscores my experience.

(their shop is SO CUTE.) When it came to actually getting the hair dyed and trimmed, again the process was very communicative and all about MY input on what I wanted, which was great. Natalie also is a joy to talk to and kept me entertained with a string of friendly conversation the whole way through. Price-wise, I have had my hair dyed at a fair amount of places and this was definitely the cheapest, by at least $30-$40 dollars, yet I had not a single complaint with my hair and have been so incredibly happy with how the dyeing turned out. I brought my 12-year-old daughter in for a full foil service after receiving an estimated price of $300-$350. Midway through the appointment--more than three hours in, with most of her hair already foiled and processing--I was told it would be "a little more work and cost more." That description did not indicate that the appointment would run several hours longer than scheduled or that the final price would end up close to double the original estimate. By the time this was mentioned, the service was already too far along to stop. The appointment ended up lasting more than six hours. Although the salon's atmosphere was visually nice, the experience did not feel comfortable. My daughter became visibly distressed because of how roughly her hair was being handled. I asked several times for the stylist to be gentler with her. She was upset and teary at different points, which made the environment feel tense rather than relaxing. When we checked out, the total was significantly higher than expected based on the original estimate. I left a tip because I felt pressured in the moment, not yet realizing the full extent of the situation. After we left, an additional charge appeared on my card that I had not been informed of or authorized, which was very concerning. The next morning, after my daughter washed her hair at home, the condition of her hair was extremely alarming. Without the heat styling from the salon, her hair was dry, tangled, frizzy, and difficult to comb, with noticeable breakage in multiple sections. I've attached photos taken that morning to show what her hair looked like after a normal wash. To better understand what happened, we consulted a licensed stylist at another salon later that day. She confirmed that my daughter's hair showed signs of chemical over-processing and recommended restorative treatments and products, resulting in additional unexpected expenses. I contacted Tulu afterward to explain the situation and request a resolution, but the responses were dismissive and no refund was offered. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable returning, and I hope this review helps others make the decision that is best for them.
