Amazing food and the service is slow but so worth it! Once your seated your family!!!!

We were in Spain in Early January and I yelped for an authentic tapas restaurant and found this. It was filled with locals and my family seems to be the only tourists there. This made me happy as I knew that we were in for a local treat!! We started with a local brew.. then the dishes came. Treat it was, when we ordered the highly recommended Bombas. Wow.. it is very creamy and the sauce had a very nice kick to it.. next was a beautifully steamed, fresh mussels which had a light sauce. My son wanted a dish of Patatas Brava and it was awesome with a very nice spicy kick. I got some fried fish which went well with the beer. I could feel the freshness of the lightly battered fish. Ordered some spicy fried pork and was not disappointed.. this was during the mid of our Spain trip and we all agreed that this was the best tapas food we had so far.. The restaurant was packed when we got there. We had to wait a while for a table for 4. The staff hardly spoke English but they were helpful. I felt there were a few favours done to regular local customers ahead of us and thus a 4 star review. But food wise certainly they deserve a 5 star rating!! read more

They really do not speak English here. No cards. No reviews i read before coming here mentioned that las bombas tienen mucho calor !!! (Theyre very hot, or i thought so anyway) so here's your warning. But very very good regardless. read more

This place was off the hook ! Looks are deceiving is super small and packed get there early to put your name down people wait an hour if they have to it's def worth it ! Best value for your buck , tapas were amazing , las bombas were so delicious , their spicy and garlic sauce are so good ! El pulpo al gallego was incredible even our one year old devoured it ! Service is ok jus be patience things take time here , it is run and serviced by a bunch of older grumpy gentlemen if you're patient you'll see a crack of their sweet side :) we had a carafe of the house sangria it was delicious! You definitely sent here drinking and slowly sample their menu is priced very fairly ! We will definitely come back read more

This was a great authentic local place to eat at. We over ordered, but amazingly almost finished everything. Olive stuffed with anchovies (good), croquetas de jamón (very good although, barely specs of jamón to be found inside), patatas bravas (spicy aïoli like sauce and white sauce, but very good), calamares a la romana (a little chewy but good), deep fried baby calamari (good but couldn't finish it), chorizo al vino blanco (awesome!), three torrades (this is where we over ordered. Didn't realize they were so big but so good it was all gone when we finished eating) : chorizo, ibérico jamón, salchicha. They have a funny phrase painted on the wall : "No hablamos inglés pero hacemos unas bombas cojonudas. No tenemos WiFi, hablen entre ustedes." Too bad the little old man didn't have the same sense of humor. He certainly didn't speak English, but we tried our best broken Spanish to order and ask questions, etc. But we could never get a smile out of him. Nonetheless the food was great. read more

GET THE BOMBAS, OCTOPUS, AND PESCADITOS!! I was blown away by how creamy the bombas were, how tender the octopus was, and how flavorful the pescaditos were. Honestly, you can't go wrong here. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and our entire party of 6 enjoyed every dish. read more

The bombas from la bombeta was one of my favorite meals in Spain while I lived there this past summer . Upon arrival you realize quickly this isn't a touristy trap restaurant that's wildly overpriced like most of places near the beach . This place has no wifi , no English speakers , and nothing luxurious . What it does have is great food and prices . I would recommend it to anyone . Their signature "Las Bombas" were the best...a friend potato ball, cut in half and drizzled in a delicious sauce. It gets crowded at night, so stick to lunch. My best tapas in Barcelona! Of course the bombetas are amazing or as they would call them "cojonudas"! But there is so much more than that on this menu. Incredibly tasty Spanish dishes such as callos a la madrileña, octopus a la gallega, pimientos, chorizo al vino, Spanish tortillas, gambas al ajillo etc. They also have lots of great Spanish wines as well as Cañas (beers). First, let me just say that the muscles in marinara sauce are FANTASTIC! The sauce is delicious and we were truly tempted to eat what was left with a spoon. That being said, the place is small and the service will not blow you away. The owner (I think) was in a very grumpy mood the first time we went but got our order right. The second time (we HAD to go back for more muscles) he didn't bring exactly what we had ordered. We let it go as he didn't seem open to a lot of discussion. The Bombas are good but they are pretty heavy and filling...the sauce is amazing. All in all, a good experience but would be better with a little better service. However, I don't think that's a priority. I got the feeling that he has plenty of business and pretty much runs things the way he wants. read more

We stopped by for a late lunch on our way to walk around the waterfront and head to the aquarium. When we arrived around 3:00 p.m., the place was packed. As we were waiting in the front area, I saw that several plates were being microwaved before being sent out to customers. There was clearly a kitchen in the back, so I don't know why they had to microwave food. Not a good sign. After a bit of a wait, we sat down. The place is small inside, so the tables are tightly packed. It was loud and hard to hear when we were talking to each other. We started off with an order of Bombas. These were very good and the sauce that came with it was a bit spicy, but flavorful. We also ordered the calamari a la Romana, patatas bravas, and chorizo en vino blanco. I think they messed up our order, because we never seemed to get the chorizo dish. Additionally, the waiter gave us a plate of squid that we did not order. All of the food was fried and overly salty. We barely ate any of the other dishes aside from the Bombas as we both started feeling sick from the fried food. I have had plenty of fried calamari and other seafood before. However, it has not previously made me sick. This is definitely not the best seafood place to eat at. If you want some Bombas (which were microwaved), you'll like this place. Otherwise, I did not think the food was very good. read more

If you find yourself looking for a place to dine in Barcelona, I highly recommend La Bombeta for an authentic, neighborhood tapas restaurant. Well, at least that's the way it seemed in November; I've been there in the summer time when the line has stretched down the block and the restaurant becomes an incredibly loud and raucous place to dine. If you are ready for that type of experience--GO! Everything on the menu is delicious. We particularly love the jamon croquettes, fried squid, fresh grilled sardines, and the house sangria. If you are willing to dine early in the evening, a table might be easy to secure. Later, and you will wait and wait. The staff will not speak English, but if you know a few words of another language, it is helpful and the staff will try to accommodate you. read more

I was hesitant to try this place because of the "no habla ingles" signs, but decided to be brave and go anyway. Let me just say that sign is not accurate. Our server started talking to us in some English right away and there were a few groups in there that looked American AF. Phew...here I thought I was going to get shanked. It's a no frills type of place. The servers looked a little grumpy. Food was mixed. I've assimilated quickly and started every single place by the pan de tomate, which here was just okay. My favorite things were easily the large plate of jamon iberico de bellota (important distinction from just regular delicious jamon iberico) for like 15 euros and the cheap rioja tinto. Both things also happen to be my favorite Spanish words. I'd go back for just those alone, but on a busier night and better time. Great food! We has the bombas, chorizo, ham croquettes, bread, Catalan sausage and peppers, beer, coffee and dessert for two people for 35 euro! The food is awesome, great tapas selection, very authentic, and totally with it. Most may walk past it, but the food is fantastic and so reasonable. Definitely will visit again! read more

Late review. Visited in May, and the place was buzzing even though it was a weekday. Its usually filled with locals rather than tourists, which makes it more authentic! The food was amazing as expected and so were the local beer and wine recommended by the staff. Amazing atmosphere, super friendly staff and to top it all off, authentic catalan dishes.
