I asked for hybrid cat eye & showed the artist a reference picture but received Russian volume doll eye. The lashes were very heavy and the glue was on my skin. The clusters felt hard and plastic. Buckle up. I've been getting my brows and lashes tinted here for almost a year. Today I goofed and went in for an appointment that was actually for tomorrow. They were kind enough to get me in last minute. All good until after a few minutes of waiting on the dye, the skin around my eyes started to burn. My poor esthetician could not get it off my eyes fast enough as it kept getting worse while she explained they changed the dye they were using recently enough that it was different from the dye I've used every other time. When we finally got it off and it stopped burning enough to open my eyes she stepped outside to talk to her boss (clearly the only other person in the building) When my esthetician returned I asked to know what the dye was so it doesn't happen again. She said ROGAINE. They were putting drug store dyes on my eyelids with no notice of the switch or patch test. I was ready to laugh it off, expecting her boss to apologize and offer to comp the lash tint (brows look fine though darker than I like because we were busy getting rogaine out of my eye) Instead, at checkout her boss asked me "how did it go?" Uhmm, bad? My eyes are burning. She offered five off and I tipped and paid and walked away only to double take back. Did she really just charge me for burning my eyes with rogaine and ask how it went? I went back in to confirm she wasn't charging me for the lash tint. She said she'd refund it but hasn't yet. If it had just been the rogaine and the owner had been immediately apologetic, I would not be quite as upset. But charging someone to put drug store dyes on a notoriously sensitive piece of skin and then acting so glib about it? Scummy. Edit to address some lies from the owner: Not in my decade on Yelp have I written a one star review, that honor is reserved for Josie. And while I was trying not to throw Julianna, her tech, under the bus I will say: yesterday she asked me if I ever got my brows dyed before. Yes! By her! Twice in the last 6 months. Perhaps there would be more customer recognition if the turnover wasn't so high, but now we know why that is. I was a repeat customer because it was convenient not because of any outstanding service. I have not changed anything about my routine since my last appointment 6 weeks ago so there was no need to inform my esthetician. However, it is important that you inform customers of changes to your products as well. After asking multiple times for the name of the new product julianna told me it was "rogaine facial dye" a beard dye that can be purchased at the drugstore. I am aware of what original rogaine does! Thank you for that. Julianna left the room to speak to you for a good 5 minutes after confirming what was burning (the skin around my eyes where the dye was) so I'm not buying that you didn't know what had happened in there. I also shouldn't have had to ask for a refund. You shouldn't charge people to burn their eyes with drug store dye when you never informed them of the switch, that's on you. I had to double back because I was shocked the "discount" was just 20% off the lash tint and not taking the lash tint off the bill the same way she had to take it off my face when I told her my eyes were burning. You tried to cut costs and it backfired quickly and rather than being remorseful you are lying, victim blaming and gaslighting. Yikes. I got a lash lift + tint done and was absolutely appalled by how it turned out. It was way too over processed, unevenly distributed, lashes were curled way to back on my eyelids, and super frizzy. I was too shy to say anything in the moment because I was just in shock with how they looked. I also thought I could fix them a bit in the car and the women who did it was very sweet, I didn't want to hurt her feelings at the moment. I called the salon 20 min after and told them how I felt in a very kind matter. I also sent them pictures of how they looked currently, and another older picture of a correct lash lift I got at a different salon. I asked them how to fix it/make it less curly and they told me to wait an hour and use a que tip and a clean spooli to fix it. This already was unacceptable because when you walk out of a salon, you should be satisfied with your services. After the 1 hour period and me attempting to fix it, they still didn't look good! So i called the lady and said that I have to wash my face to remove the perm, i can not go out with this. I also asked for at least a partial refund since I paid 140 (plus tip) for this, and they looked like a 15$ lash lift. A full refund should have been issued but I was trying to be nice. This is the part that is frustrating and super unprofessional. The front desk lady, Maria or Marina, told me that she will talk to her supervisor regarding the refund in the next hour after the supervisor is finished with a service. After an hour, I text her and ask if she has spoken with the supervisor. She said that she will let me know once the supervisor is out of service. After another hour, its 7:30 and they close at 8:00 and I still have yet no response. I message them a couple of times, and no response. I called them after they closed, no response. I called them the next day and left a voicemail, no response. They ghosted me that evening with no communication about the situation. I now have to pay additional money to get it fixed somewhere else. The only nice lady is the one who did my eyelashes but they were just way too over-processed. Update: They issued the refund. My appt ended up being with Josie (not Alex) so the cost was double - first bummer of the visit. Then, Josie recommended hybrid based on what I described I wanted. Once we started, Josie changed her mind and said she thought I should just do classic. I trusted her judgement and went along with it. She worked really quickly - it took less than an hour start to finish. And the results... were really disappointing. I felt I looked the same with classic extensions as I did wearing subpar mascara. Maybe not even that good. They were super super curly and the shape was not flattering on me. Had a great experience at La Boutique! It was really easy to book and I really like the fact that everything was user friendly. I saw Julianna and she was great. I got the Customized Facial and it was relaxing and effective. Without me even mentioning it, she recognized that I had very sensitive skin that is particularly sensitive to friction or physical exfoliants. She used products on my face that were not harsh or abrasive. The extractions were effective and my skin was prepped well by something she used that helped soften my skin. Extractions hurt as always, but these extractions weren't as painful as some I've had before. The end was my favorite, as Julianna applied a very soothing mask and I was able to really relax and "nap" in the room for about 15-20 minutes.
