I wish I could put more than five stars. I left a different nail salon because I was getting a full set removed and my nails were getting filed too thin and became sensitive. I came in and Emily helped remove my full set without any pain. They were extremely friendly and flexible. They also talk to me about my nail health and recommended different nail treatments to keep my nails from being damaged further including giving me a discounted rate on builder gel with the full set removal (since the removal was half done from the first nail salon). I could not be happier with my service and I'm planning to go see Emily for my nails in the future! read more

Got a lash lift here because I had expiring ClassPass credits and would not recommend it to anyone. Don't think the person knew how to do it at all, turned out horrible and also think my lashes are damaged. Also didn't seem clean. Usually don't write reviews but felt I should considering how bad it was. read more

Absolutely not. I went in and requested a coffin shape nail. Not one of my nails matches the other. I requested long nails, but before the nail tech started dip, I had to point out that she had filed one thumb nail down super short, so instead of replacing it to match the entire set she shaved both down making my thumb nails extremely short and the rest long and not the same shape. It took two hours, my friend didn't even get a chance to get hers done. My nails look horrible, I had to file them myself to get them somewhat presentable. I wanted a design but decided 2/3 the way in, don't trust them and the nails are done so bad the only way to not notice how bad is one single color. I have gotten acrylics/dip for over 10 years but took a break and this was the one time i treated myself. Im neverrr going back. read more

I come regularly for powder dip manicures with Angela. She always does an amazing job, especially when I show her pics of designs that I want. She's very detail oriented / careful. I think this nail shop deserves a praise. Very nice shop, clean and super cozy. Good prices and superb customer service. Be sure to ask for nail tech Angela, she does amazing job. She pays attention to details, usually my manicure will only last me most 3 weeks. Angela can make it last 6 weeks plus, amazing!!!!! My experience at Sunset Nail Salon was incredibly disappointing. I paid $90 plus a $20 tip ($110 total) for a manicure, expecting high quality and durability. The technician, Lien, suggested a nail style--possibly gel or dip powder, though I couldn't understand her due to pronunciation issues--that she claimed was better than acrylics, with no odor or dust. However, she didn't explain it clearly or offer other suitable, long-lasting options. Instead of acrylics, she applied fake nails with polish on top, assuring me they would last. Shockingly, within a day, the nails started breaking and pulling off, and now all of them need to be redone.Spending $110 for a manicure that didn't even last a few days is beyond frustrating, especially since I now have to pay to fix them elsewhere. The poor quality, lack of clear communication, and no guidance on better options made this a complete waste of time and money. I strongly advise against visiting Sunset Nail Salon. read more

I've gotten a gel pedi and a lash lift both done here at separate appointments and have been very satisfied with the quality of the work. Lien is kind and very thorough with her work. Upon entering the Salon, it's extremely beautiful and well-kept. This Saturday was slow and no other customer's were in the salon. Despite how kind and polite, I sound they were hesitant to do my service and then proceeded to not listen to particular's about my cuticles and hard skin. The price of the services didn't meet my expectations. Also they were talking about me in their native language when they couldn't address my concerns. I have seen that they serve beverages and didn't offer me anything. They gave me the impression they didn't want my business. It's crazy to think that prejudice behavior is still alive in 2025. I politely paid them and left a tip as well. Despite being treated like they didn't want my business and being well dressed. I hate to play the black card but racism is real. read more

My go to place for lash fills after moving to San Francisco! I was looking for a lash lady since I had just relocated and my roommate recommended Sunset Lash & Hair Gallery after she had gotten a lash lift! I messaged the owner Lien over Yelp and she was very quick to respond! I've been getting hybrid fills for weeks now and they always look fabulous! There's a new customer discount and I'd say prices are definitely reasonable in the city. My lashes always look great, have strong retention with Lien and her other lash techs! They all are also very sweet and attentive as they'll play soothing music in the background and give you a blanket if you're cold. Could not recommend this place more than I already do. This review is long overdue - Lien and her team are excellent and also have some of the most reasonable prices in the city. Lashes mean that I don't have to take time in the morning to put on makeup, so I've been getting them done somewhat regularly over the last couple years. I've tried a multitude of different places (both in Socal/Norcal), and it's hard to find a good balance between quality and reasonable pricing. Lien and her team are meticulous, flexible with appointments, and the lashes last for several weeks. In addition, her pricing is very reasonable - $149 for hybrid (which lasts me 4-5 weeks/session). I selected a Keratin lash lift via Groupon, and had a great experience! The salon is situated in Miu Miu Salon, so it can be a bit confusing to find if you're not in the Sunset often. The entire process took less than an hour, and Lynn did a great job! She made sure to take before and after pictures, and was very gentle with the chemicals around my eyes. It seems that she uses Groupon very often, so payment and redeeming of the voucher was super seamless. The lashes are supposed to last 8-11 weeks, and so far they are holding up very well. Would recommend for quality work and efficiency. I would definitely come here to get them touched up again! read more

I highly recommend going to Sunset Lash for your lashes in SF. I have been getting my lashes done at Sunset Lash for two years and they never disappoint. I moved to Marin last year and still go into the city to see Lien. I like my lashes to look very natural and they always do exactly what you ask them to do. I've come to Lien for both her Keratin Lash Lift and Classic Eyelash Extension services. Both times I left satisfied and felt like the overall price for both services was well worth especially in SF! Lien is also always super responsive and accommodating, really appreciate her customer service and flexibility! My lash extensions lasted almost a whole month! I got them for a trip to Mexico and they were perfect for a vacation. Would highly recommend for anyone interested in trying lash lifts/extensions! read more

Anyways, won't be coming back, if the business knows who she is, consider firing her because she will ruin your ability to get new customers and cause friction with existing ones. It only takes one bad experience to lose business, especially with so many other options nearby and in SF.

However, my last visit left me a little disappointed because while it was extremely relaxing and the service was great, I'm not so happy with how my actual nails turned out :-( I did the Volcano Spa service for both my pedicure and manicure which were absolutely lovely, along with gel remove and gel on both my fingers and toes. The 10 minutes of massage for both were so nice, especially the shoulders and upper back that came with the manicure. But during the gel remove, the gel on my fingers was removed with the drill. It was the same on my toes but I don't have an issue there. Normally I wouldn't mind, but my natural fingernails were drilled down so thin that even though I cut my nails short, they're ripping at the ends with normal daily wear and tear. I went on Saturday morning and I've had two nails rip at the ends already and it is only Tuesday morning. I'm not sure if it was because I came in with long nails already (imagine asking for a medium-long set) and they may have been mistaken for gel-x or something of the sort, but it was just my natural nails with gel on top. I can even feel on all of my fingernails just how thin they were drilled down because suddenly all my nails are very flimsy, even with several gel coats on top. The rest of the service and experience were great, so it's a bit disappointing to feel like I regret how much I paid because of how weak my fingernails became after this appointment. Regardless I would still return in the future if I want the pampering experience, but if I can do without the massage and just need my nails done I may choose another salon instead. Just something to note if you're someone who is worried about your nail strength. UPDATE 8/4 9:48PM: Another nail ripped pretty far down just from scratching my head :-(

A very tasteful, custom design for an 11 y.o. They lasted almost 4 weeks but finally time to take them off. We made an appt for 2:30 today and due to Jenny not getting the message we had to wait about 30-40 minutes. Not the biggest deal, really nice out and our favorite boba spot just a few blocks down Polk St. When we got back the other woman in the shop started taking off the gels, they were taking a while to saturate enough to fully remove so the cotton with acetone and foil had to stay on longer. My daughter's fingers started burning and when we let them know, Jenny prompted the other woman to take a look. Not ready yet so while the owner was finishing up with another client this other woman needed to take care of it. At one point a customer had to ask this other woman to help my daughter, that she would kindly wait. It took over an hour to remove and clean up her nails, no manicure after. Two hours later my daughter's poor fingers are still burning. Jenny was quite apologetic and adjusted the price as a courtesy. We love Jenny but maybe she needs some more support in her shop.

Shiori is incredibly friendly, fun to talk to, professional, and very knowledgeable. She consulted me through email on what type of lash lift would be suitable for my lashes and was very responsive whenever I had questions. As for my experience getting my first lash lift, Shiori made sure to explain each step as she went along and was super careful the whole time. She also informed me of the safe ways to lift lashes. Additionally, she has 60 rods to fit everyone's eye shape to perfectly lift their lashes and I love that she caters to Asian eyes. Overall, I'm extremely happy and I'll definitely come back!
