I was nervous thinking about the pain of getting waxed but Chelsea immmmmediately made me feel at ease just by her presence alone. This review is a long time coming. Perri severely messed up my eyebrows. Lashes too, but those are better now. I visited back in May and did a brow lamination and tint, and lash lift and tint. I have had this service done at several places before without issue. Upon leaving I thought it was different than i had done it before and maybe just needed to adjust. Idk. On further reflection she must have switched the products or burned them somehow. Half my eyelashes were kinked. Yes i followed aftercare perfectly. Then my eyelashes fell out and at some point were itchy and my lid was swollen. I'm not post photos but have them, and she has seen them. My eyebrows also were like hard and wouldn't move. Later they started falling out too. She gave me a full refund when I send her pics. But this is before everything started falling out. I had to buy a lash serum to grow them back. And then in August I started noticing that my eyebrows were falling out. I thought they were shedding normally and going back to blonde. NOPE! They weren't growing back at all. I went to the dr and it is 100% because of what she did. I now am using rogaine to regrow them. It's taking forever and she also refused to pay for product to help grown them back. It's probably going to be another 2-3 months of me looking awful because of Perri. Have the Holiday you deserve. read more

Review for blondes: Got a lash tint, brow tint, and lamination with Frankie. Go in knowing they can only do dark shades. I'm very blonde and wanted to go one shade darker (dark blonde) and I left purple. I explained in detail what I wanted and what I didn't want, and it turned out even worse than what I didn't want. The tint was also incomplete and left me with half dark, half blonde hairs. I left looking like a monster. read more

Bare is a nice spa and women's care studio mostly for women to get waxing and facials. It was on Classpass this time, and that's genius. I could get a brow wax for 10 ClassPass points..you know instead of yoga...they do have a check-in offer with a $5 coupon. It's a well-kept studio in the Marina and the staff is super nice and the service is good. The eyebrow wax took 15 minutes or so. It went by fast and I hadn't had a good eyebrow wax in a very long time..maybe almost a decade..It was on Classpass and so now if you examine that model of business..If you put a chunk of money on a credit system..and you get businesses to use CREDITS to get people to use a service..it works out wonderfully..and it's not just for women using Classpass.com. Awesome hidden little spot! I was looking for somewhere to get waxed, found this place near my home, and scheduled a wax and a facial as well. My provider for both was Emma, and she was fantastic! Super professional, cool girl, made me very comfortable, and wasn't too pushy with facial products or anything which I've experienced elsewhere in the past. A few days later my skin looked the healthiest it's ever looked; it was truly glowing. The spa even had a really great playlist. I'm going back next week for eyebrow threading and lash lifting, and a few weeks later for another wax and facial with Emma. Very much looking forward to it! read more

I had a really unfortunate experience here. I have very full brows and came in for a Brow Wax. I asked to just get them cleaned up and to maintain the shape. Instead the esthetician took off about half of my brows and completely reshaped them. I went from full brows that I loved to very thin brows in an flattering shape. She also rewaxed the same sections which really irritated my skin and is a big no no with wax (I'm surprised I didn't bleed). Avoid if you like a full brow look. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Bare 24 hours before the day of the service, traveled 45 min across the city, only to be turned away. I was told there was a "scheduling mistake" and Perri was out of town. No one could service me.  You can imagine how upset and frustrated I am. This is unacceptable that I scheduled an appointment the staff did not call me to cancel or reschedule my appointment. I showed up and get turned away with a "sorry for the inconvenience". Not only did I waste my time and money traveling across the city, but I didn't get the service I was told could be accommodated. The manager never reached out or responded to my email. It's been hard trying to find a new spa. Since I moved to San Francisco, I had a lot of trouble finding a spa that has great staff, a menu of spa treatments and welcoming environment that wasn't going to break the bank. So, I was happy to have found Perri and her team at Bare Beauty Lounge. I went in for a quick lash lift and tint and throughout the entire time, Perri made the space very comfortable, including some fun conversation, and did a fabulous job lifting my lashes. Then what are you doing reading the reviews on here, the majority of people come in for Brazilians anyways! Erika is very nice and very thorough with her work. I don't know if it still hurt because I "cheated" in between sessions even with the numbing spray that she provides. The schedule is in a 45 minute slot but she got me in and out within 25 minutes or so yet still waxed and tweezed all the hairs. I also like how she uses thick strips to grab onto the hard wax for hard to reach areas or hard to grip short hairs. I've been to 4 other places & I'd have to say that she's probably done the cleanest job out of 4 other places & out of 5 different waxers. Ugh I feel so bad when I cheat on my wax places but a girl can't help it when she gets tempted by Bloomspot deals & great Yelp reviews! The salon is also very nice to look at and clean as well. Definitely will recommend Bare by True to my friends. And love that this is one of the very few places that have appointments on Sundays! read more

Some of my mother's biggest fears include rodents, reptiles, me never getting married, and me getting completely inked up with tattoos from head to toe. She doesn't know that at one point, I had 6 piercings (albeit all on my ears), but that would probably not settle well with her either. Luckily for her, I have zero pain tolerance (did you know that supposedly, C-section babies have lower pain tolerance?) so the tattoos haven't and are never going to happen in this lifetime of mine. Which is why I'm still amazed that I managed to survive my first Brazilian with Erika. Actually, I'm not that amazed because Erika is awesome. I had my brows done by her (see previous review), and I finally gathered up the courage to drag my terrified self back to Bare to get a Brazilian. Erika used a nicely scented hard wax, and you know what? It wasn't that bad. 2 Advils, a crap ton of numbing spray, and a few prayers later (note: not all of those are necessary), I walked out bare, relieved, and happy. Happy that it was over? Yes, and also happy that I now have a wonderful, wonderful regular spot for any of my beauty needs. read more

Buyer beware! I had a very unpleasant experience at Bare today. I'm pretty sure my practitioner had very limited experience waxing. She keep revisiting the same area as the wax was sticking to my skin making it difficult for her to remove the hair. It was also quite painful. The wax felt more like bubble gum that kept sticking to my skin. She kept reapplying to the same areas over and over. I'm already starting to show irritation based on how my skin feels. I'd also be surprised if all of the hair is actually removed. Aside from the wax being sub-par and painful, this facility is filthy and uncomfortable. The service rooms are lit with very bright fluorescent bulbs and there is top 40 music blaring. I'm not an old man (in my 30s actually) but prefer a bit more of a soothing environment when being waxed. As for the cleanliness, there was dust everywhere and the bathroom (toilet especially) made my stomach turn. Everything is dusty, dirty, scuffs everywhere, and not sanitary at all. Pretty gross! I asked my practitioner if the rooms were ever cleaned and she said "yeah, but not enough". Yikes!!! I took a LivingSocial leap of faith and it was a mistake. Bare rocks! I never thought I could review the ambiance of a waxing studio, but seriously - Bare wins the award. They have the most inviting space I've seen, better than most high end salons or spas. Love, Love, Love! Best waxing place in the city, hands down. Alex and Shay are my two favorites. Both are considerate and gentle. I've had my legs done as well as regular Brazilians. A glass of wine (red or white), water, etc. are offered upon arrival. I like to get there early so I can make use of their relaxing lounge area. Pool table and love seat swing included. I was looking for a new salon to get a Brazilian wax done, as it was hard to get later appointments at my regular salon with my new work schedule. I decided on Bare due to the glowing Yelp reviews, availability of a late evening weeknight appointment, and because it would be something I could knock out right after my doctor's appointment. Well, thank baby Jesus that this was my destination! I've passed by the salon a few times before and always loved the fact that they had a pool table in the lobby. I also found that they have a great retail area, a lovely garden-like lounge that includes a wooden bench that swings, and a flat screen TV that plays one of my fave movies, Mean Girls! You also get offered a glass of wine upon check-in. Who could ever turn that down, especially when anticipating some ouchies? Come on ladies, a Brazilian wax can be like a bad day at the dentist, except down there (Sorry for that uncomfortable visual)! My aesthetician was Savannah and she was so friendly and chatty and made sure no spot was left hairy. She also offered some personalized aftercare tips on moisturizing and exfoliating. What made the waxing experience different from ones I've had at other salons is that they offered numbing spray without extra cost to the service. I never knew how much less painful a Brazilian wax could be by using it, like pain level 3 on a scale from 1 to 10. The music the room played was also fun and upbeat and not that super serious zen stuff. I will definitely come back here for my next wax!
