Still wasn't terrible but clearly didn't fit into the tier of quality as the other dishes. Frankly a little over cooked. So I debated giving a 4 star. However dessert stole the show. Did the banana sponge cake. All things considered a very solid restaurant. All in cost us 50 euros with a bottle of wine. We found that to be very cheap given the quality. We had the tuna, the melted cheese with the sweet and spicy and ofcourse we tried the duck which is one of their most famous dish. The melted cheese was good but not amazing. The tuna was very tasty. I had made a note months ago to try La Brunilda when we came to Seville. I can't remember if I found the recommendation on Yelp or elsewhere but I was certainly pleased I wrote it down. We showed up before opening and quickly a line of 50 people formed behind us. We were all welcomed in to select our seating when the restaurant opened at 8:30 pm. My husband and I ordered 5 tapas dishes: Burrata Salad, Daily Croquettes, and three seafood selections, the Squid, the Scallop, and the Octopus. If I was rating this place on those dishes alone, I would have given a 4/5 because the squid dish did not hit the mark. Two small pieces of squid over a bread, ham, and egg salad. Just did not go together. However everything else was absolutely amazing. Our dessert, as well as the service we received, definitely deserve the 5th star here. read more

This place is so good that we went twice during our short stay. We tried calamari, squid, duck, steak, pork, tuna and mushroom risotto. They were all very good. Excellent little place with non- spanish tapas. Beautifully executed with fresh ingredients and friendly service. We walked in at 10:20pm and got a table for two rather quickly, just lucky. Didn't see anyone waiting but there were folks standing at the bar. Here is what we ate- we ordered tapas sizes as i am vegetarian and my dinner companion is a meat eater. We both rated it in the same order. I was surprised at how much we liked the good. Nice change after all the bodegas and tapas bars we gave been eating at. Burrata(v)- highly recommended. Fresh , great balance of flavors. Mushroom risotto(v)- very good with roasted mushrooms on top and bigger chunks in the risotto. Way better than what I've ever had in the states. Patatas bravas(v) - good, solid potatoes with the spicy red sauce. Grilled squid- good. Just felt the other items were better. Croqutte of the day- was ham. Good not great. This is a modern fusion tapas place with a younger crowd. It reminded me more of the trendy/fancy gastropubs and restaurants you would see in Toronto on like Dundas west or College st. Wonderful change of pace to the numerous traditional tapas bars we visited during our time in Spain and probably one of the finest and best value meals we had. We came here on day 3 in Seville I think and at this point we were eating like 6 meals a day so we only ordered 3-items to share but they were all fantastic. The duck confit and beetroot gazpacho were standouts - AMAZING dishes. The cod fritters were very good too. Very good value too. A meal in a restaurant like this with a couple drinks each would easily cost 2-3x this in Toronto even with the currency exchange. We probably visited 40+ tapas bars/restaurants in 9 days in Spain and this was a top 5 or top 3 experience. It seems like the trend in Seville is New Spanish food, similar to New American food. La Brunilda is one of those places that elevate dishes with different flavors that all work well together, and of course at a pricier point than your local tapas places. We tried to come here twice, and finally made it on our third attempt by standing at the bar! If you want to come for dinner, definitely come EARLY. We got there around 8:30pm one night and they didn't have any more tables for the rest of the night! The day we were leaving, we decided to try once more before they closed for lunch and were able to snag a spot at the bar. Since we weren't planning on eating here and already had a full lunch, we only got the grilled octopus and the burrata. Both dishes were AMAZING!! The grilled octopus was cooked PERFECTLY. I could eat this all day The burrata was covered in a pesto sauce, and it went soo well with the complimentary bread they give you. If only we could have tried more dishes, but our stomachs couldn't handle it. I'm just glad we were able to try this gem during our stay. read more

Wow. I mean wow. Came here on a rec from a local bartender while on a 5 city Spain vacay. I can honestly say this is by far the best food I had out of all of the 5 cities I travelled. I have to say the scallop with cauliflower puree was the best dish I have had in my entire life. It was so flavorful, so creamy, and so tasty. Every bite was an explosion in my mouth and it was honestly better than sex. Hahahaha. The other dishes we had did not disappoint. The duck confit was tender and juicy. The croquettes were smooth and creamy inside and crispy outside. And the dessert was the best caramel donut ice cream combo I have ever had. Wow. I just remember eating each bite and my friend and I staring at each other in wonderment because we couldn't figure out how the food was tasting so good. We had no words to describe it! A definite tapas gem. And when I say tapas, I don't mean small plates. We got a babysitter (y'all don't know me, but we brought our 7 month old to Spain and we've never had a babysitter ever, mostly because my husband 100% thinks someone will kidnap him and harvest his organs, or just keep him since he's so freakin' cute), but our air b&B host offered up her sister, so voila. We arrived around 8:10 and the line was already probably about 30 people deep. When they opened at 8:30 we were one of the last tables to be seated in the first round. We went with a bottle of wine (and some sangria, who are we kidding) and about 5 tapas and it was filling! The tapas price for each dish (they also have a fuller meal price), I was expecting small portions, but oh no! The salad with beet root was fantastic along with the gorgonzola croquettes. The cod fritters needed more of a cod taste, and the scallop in the cauliflower mash wasn't the most flavorful. The bream was delicious and my husband loved the foie gras (i'm not a huge fan, although my bite of it was solid). 5 hearty tapas (and i'm not talking about patatas bravas here), a bottle of wine and 2 sangria and 1 dessert (the fried brioche which was also really good) was about $50 euros. DAMN!!!! Although, nothing screamed to me eat me again minus the salad and the gorgonzola croquettes, everything was fresh and well done. One of the better meals we've had in Spain (which isn't saying much because we haven't really been eating much schlepping a 7 month old around). A definite win, although I don't know if I'd wait 2 hours for it. read more

Yes, it is 'touristy' in that there seemed to be alot of non-locals there. Quite a few Asians, perhaps they were students...we sat next to Austrailians. It is crowded, after our first meal we knew we wanted to go back so we did que up a half hour before opening. This place is worth waiting for. We may have had the beet salad every time (delicious garlic chips, who knew?). I had the duck once but was not impressed, it was a little dry, or hard to chew but the price was good and the sauce underneath was good. no loss. The servers were fun and spoke some English, I never tried the burrata salad but I saw many being served. When I go back to Seville this will be on my list. The restaurant needs bigger space as it seems to be getting a lot popular. Seating is limited. There were people waiting inside on a very hot day to get their turn. The restaurant should also offer printed menus because we were having a difficulty loading the menu on the phone. I enjoyed the fusion tapa. Everything was great. I loved the Salmorejo. My wife and kid enjoyed both the solomillo and tuna tatakis, and when all said and done, this was one of their 2 favorite restaurants they went to. read more

I'm still dreaming of the lunch I had at La Brunilda when I visited Sevilla this past summer. This review is long overdue and I needed to share my experience. I received multiple recommendation lists for Sevilla and this restaurant happened to be on one of them. I made a point to come here for lunch during my visit. When we arrived there was a bit of a wait. From the look of the restaurant, I could tell it was definitely worth it. The restaurant is pretty modern/trendy and had an awesome vibe. My friend and I finally were seated after about 25 minutes and ordered a bunch of different dishes to share. The ones that stood out to me particularly were the Mushroom Risotto and the Burrata cheese. They were both excellent! We also really enjoyed the sliders and a steak dish we got. The service was also great and the employees were very friendly. Highly recommend trying out La Brunilda if you're visiting Sevilla. I will definitely return if I'm ever in the city again! read more

This place is straight . It is the best food I've had in Seville so far. I got the octopus, scallop, chicken, and beef plates. Octopus - 5/5 Super tender octopus on top of grilled veggies, with a garlic aioli. What a delight. It melted in my mouth. The veggies made the difference. Scallop - 4.8/5 The black noodles with scallop was super nice as well. Only reason it loses points is because I don't usually like seafood noodles. If you like vongole pastas, this is a must. Chicken - 5/5 Chicken with guac and tomatoes. It had a hint of curry taste. Chicken was tender and guac was on point. Beef - 5/5 Zomg this beef w potato is to dieeee for. I was getting sick of tapas but this place made me love tapas again. The beef is cooked med rare and seasoned to perfection. But the potato is the kicker. Baked but crispy on the outside and luscious on the inside. It was a buttery ball of goodness. Def def def get this. Im pretty sure everything else would be fire as well but this got me hella full. Favorite meal in Sevilla. First off, the inside is bright and comfortable. Sangria was refreshing and tasty. We ordered the warm chicken salad - it was okay. We didn't really care for the creamy dressing but it was nice to have a salad for a change. The salmon over mashed potatoes was very good with a mild chili taste. I was looking forward to trying the food here because it looked incredible, but I was somewhat disappointed. I had the duck confit, scallop and sausage, and grilled iberian pork shoulder. The main problem is that everything I had was a bit bland. It just seemed liked nothing had that much flavor. The duck, scallop, and pork shoulder all were cooked well, but nothing really stood out. Also, another thing I don't like is that a lot of the dishes, or at least the dishes I tried, didn't seem Spanish at all. I like how other modern tapas places are creative but still take inspiration from traditional dishes and ingredients. Maybe I just ordered the wrong dishes, but I was underwhelmed by what I had. The tapas prices are somewhat high, but it's reasonable for the amount of food you get. Unfortunately, I preferred many other tapas places over La Brunilda. read more

We had the best experience at La Brunilda! The food was amazing. There are probably a total of 12 tables, so make sure to get a reservation because their walk-ins fill up fast. Why doubts? Three-fold: 1) it's in most English tourist books as a unique, Spanish experience; 2) almost none of such reviews are from people from Spain; 3) when I waited on line to get in I heard spoken every language BUT Spanish. But... The food was sublime. Beautifully prepared, sensitively seasoned, a lovely mix of familiar tapas (sublime rice and cheese and patata bravas) and interesting global takes (tuna barely seared with couscous was excellent). There are good vegetarian options, though in Spain they are often fried, buttered, or in some sinful sauce. The scene is young, open, warm and inviting. The wait staff were correct -- and gave a bit of a sense of wanting to moving guests through as people were waiting outside. But ours gave good wine recommendations of very local reds (not known much in the States), and was courteous.
