The food was great in my opinion, we did show up a little after 10 on a Sunday so we had about 10-15 minutes to order food before the kitchen closed. The service was attentive as well. They have people constantly walking around and they are able to communicate with each other which is helpful just in cause your initial server is busy. The vibe is a whole vibe. Music is predominantly Hispanic but they did play a few songs that compliment other groups of people. Overall a 8.5/10. Will be back for a friends night out for sure! read more

This was our first time visiting La Buena Vida - we went on a Wednesday evening, around 6:30, and it was quite dark inside, luckily each table has a small lamp to help light your table and view the menu. Our waitress was Paola R. and she was great - very attentive and made sure that we got everything we wanted. The atmosphere is unique - featuring constant super loud music, strobe lights and fog - and it can be difficult to have a conversation with even your table mates. This place is OK but HOLY COW do they slather mayonnaise on so many things that shouldn't have it. (or it's a mayonnaise "dip" or a mayonnaise "sauce"). They call it a "dip" but they still slather that sauce all over the food and ruined it. The siete mares was very flavorful and had good spicy level but I could tell if the lobster tail was placed in there empty or not, the crab legs were too soft (guess that's why no cracker was provided), not all shrimp were split, and more than half of those still had the poop vein. The spoon provided for the soup should never be the type of spoon served with a bowl like that (not deep). They tried to charge for a drink we never ordered/had. They're overpriced, and miss basic culinary techniques. At the time of this review, Yelp has their sanitation grade at an 86.5. Which we checked that prior to going there. When we got to this crumbling theme park, it so crowded and reminded me of a state prison mess hall. I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant after reading so many positive reviews however my experience was awful. My party waited, was seated and we ending up leaving without even ordering a drinks due to the extremely poor service we experienced. Our group arrived early (around 7:00pm) and were put on a list and told the wait would be about 1-1.5 hours. Cool no problem, we already knew the restaurant didn't take reservations and we expected to wait based on other reviews so we arrived early. We were put on a list and stood outside and waited...and waited. An hour and a half goes by and the Yelp app no longer says what our expected wait time is, it just says "Taking a little longer than expected". I went to speak with the hostess and ask for an ESTIMATE of how much longer. We were told "oh you're next", "It shouldn't be much longer", "let me go see what i can do" multiple times and ending up waiting another 1.5 hours for a total of three. At this time I guess the staff were tired of me asking questions so they finally seated us outside (away from the music and crowd) at a WOBBLY, DISGUSTING table. The people sitting across from us mentioned that they had had ordered drinks over an hour ago and still had not received them. At that point we had had enough and got up and left without ordering a single thing. We would have left sooner but we celebrating a birthday and did not have a back up plan. My biggest issue was that the staff continued to string us along making us believe that we would be seated soon when they knew we would not. We were not the only party experiencing this either. I observed several groups that came after us (similar size) ask to be put on the list and they got the same 1-1.5 hour estimate which they knew was not true. The restaurant just didn't want people to get out of line and leave. My recommendation to the restaurant is to work on their time management and communicate a time limit for guest tables during peak hours. If you are thinking about dining here I recommend avoiding weekends and/or set a hard limit for yourself on how long you are willing to wait to give it a try. I hope this restaurant gets it together to provide a better experience for all patrons and not just a few. I won't be back to find out either way. read more

On a normal day, I would rate them 20 stars. My wife and I would dine here often before their new found fame on Tik Tok. Two weeks ago, we had family visit and wanted to take them to La Buena Vida, so we mad reservations for 9:15pm. We did not sit down until 10pm. Why? There was a new guy, bald, assisting the hosting area and seating customers. He was so busy flirting with walk-ins that he have our table away three times! How do I know this? Because we asked and confirmed each time that they were walk-ins. Unfortunately, the young lady who normally runs the hosting area felt my wrath and I hated to speak to her in a certain tone as she is always so sweet and prompt but it was getting out of hand. I told her if he sat one more walk-in down before us, we were going to have a problem. She looked over everything and we literally watched her get on to him for not seating us sooner. He brushed it off, said okay, she pointed him to the "party" side and told him to prepare a table for us asap. (We had requested to sit on that side in our reservation.) after she walked off, guess what he did? Gave our table away again. She came back and saw that he had done this, and ordered him again to seat us AGAIN. So he comes over with an attitude and says "your table is ready, it's been ready" so I told him to take us to it, this isn't a seat yourself establishment so we get to a table that is on the OPPOSITE side of where we requested and he had just thrown the table together, no silverware etc. Bottom line is, if you make a reservation, make it an hour earlier than when you expect to sit down because if he is running the door, he seats friends and flirtatious women first. I discussed this with management, they apologized and said he was new but that was no excuse. Outside of that, the food is always great. Service is amazing. Very good food and service. I sat at the bar on a Friday night and fair earning it is very loud but fun too. There was lots of activity and somewhat loud club like music and still I enjoyed it quite a bit. The decor is beautiful and it's a very nice place.
