I have been eating here for years. And they never disappoint. Always friendly!! Restaurant is always clean & inviting!

La Cabana is old faithful for us. We have been coming here for six years and keep coming back. Birthdays here are fun because they sing to you and even mush your face into the whipped cream on the fried ice cream. We have even had the pleasure of being seated next to a group enjoying their wedding reception. The jumbo margarita is huge. But you might have problems walking if you drink it all. :) My daughter and I love the chicken ranchero. My son normally gets chicken fingers and rice and my husband likes the amigo super. We normally start our meal with the queso dip and it is always a hit. It's wonderful when you come to a place enough that you get to know the staff. We are always warmly greeted and we love how friendly everyone is here. Like most of our neighbors, our home in Hartwell is our second home, and you can find us and all of our neighbors at La Cabana on Friday night after getting to town. We've tried other Mexican restaurants in town but keep coming back to La Cabana. 1/18/2019 We are always warmly greeted when we come through the door. We usually eat in when we go here & the food come out steaming hot. Often the chicken is dry & lacks seasoning. So we haven't gone in a while thinking maybe give it a little time it'll get better. We ordered to go tonight the portions were small, the chicken was dry & tasteless. For the amount we paid we expected better. Your food comes in a to go tray which does nothing to keep it hot. Think we'll go to the competitors who give bigger portions, more flavor & package it so it's hot when you get home. read more

My parents go here all the time. They only go because two of the servers treat them super well. The food is decent, but nothing to brag about. My parents have probably spent $1,000's of dollars here over the years. Today, my dad wanted to go for his birthday. I went, because it's his birthday. We took a special bottle of wine that we have been saving for a very long time. Their favorite servers told us to bring the bottle in, that it would be fine to enjoy it at dinner. After they asked us how many glasses we needed, the manager came to our table and told us we could not open the bottle. It was a very embarrassing situation for my parents, and for myself. Most restaurants allow outside bottles, and some even charge a corking fee, which is normal, and which we intended to pay if need be. However, the manager persisted that we could not open the bottle. I didn't order any food because to be honest I was so upset I was no longer hungry. My parents were visibly upset even though they verbally pretended not to be. I will be finding out who the owner is, and I will be sending them a message directly. All they had to do was charge us $15-$25 for a corking fee for us to use their silly glasses and everyone could have had a nice birthday celebration, but the manager on duty this Saturday ruined everything. Honestly, there really isn't much to say about this restaurant. It is one of the few Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. The food is pretty average as far as Tex-Mex restaurants go. If you get a craving for Tex-Mex while in the area, I would recommend the place, but it isn't really the type of place you would want to go out of your way to try. read more

After eating here 3 times, I can honestly say I might not come back. The food is blah, messy, soupy. The fajita nachos certainly don't have fajita meat. It's stewed chicken...so the nachos are all soggy. And my son ordered the shrimp last time. He couldn't even eat it, the veins were left in...and he said it was gritty and gross. I agreed. The service has been continually worse, the waiter seems as if he is being bothered greatly any time a request is made. I think I'll drive to Elberton or Anderson the next time I want Mexican. Or better yet, cook at home. read more

The food is pretty much the same as other Mexican restaurants but the quality is consistently good. The wait staff are exceptional and make a point of paying attention to regular customers. The manager frequently comes by to check on things also. read more

During the pandemic, they are at least distancing tables and wearing masks. The food is pretty good, basic American Mexican fare. Service is good and food comes fairly quickly. Is the place a bit worn? Yes, but it's clean worn. Food has always been good and fresh and is typical of the Mexican-style fare offered in the area. read more

Last time I ate here, there was a roach in my sisters rice. We complained and got offered new rice, and that plate taken off the bill. But still, a roach in the food?? Really?? She didn't even want anymore food, we were all severely grossed out!! Haven't been back since. read more
