La Cabana! Every time I visit my Dad, I bring him here. My Dad knew the original owner decades back, he loves to tell his story of how he finished a whole picture of margarita cocktail to himself while chatting it up with the owner. I like the atmosphere of this restaurant, it is authentic and comfortable. The service is quick and pleasant. The food here is excellent! It's not americanized, Mexican food, but tasty meals just like what my Mom would cook. My issue would be the menus. There a bit busy and need to be modernized and simplified. Got food poisoning from their shrimp and bad service. I do not recommend going here. That is all.

We had a party of 8. We were sitting there waiting for someone to take our order for at least 15 minutes. We all thought they'd forgotten about us. Finally, when the server came, I ordered a tossed salad and a water with lemon. The water smelled like bleach. Evidently you don't get to order dressing with your room temperature salad either. They didn't ask me what I wanted, they just threw a Ken's Ranch Dressing package on the table. The tossed salad was room temperature. Are you kidding me?! So here is an honest review: I'm from California so I realize my standards for Mexican food may be high; however, this has been talked about from many other people as well. Why do you guys freeze your salsa?? Who does that? No one Hispanic. Stop doing that. Salsa should not be cold when it arrives to the table. It's salsa, it's supposed to be spicy. Put salt on the chips. Also, the food us sub par. Just almost nothing is right. I had the chicken tacos and the second time I went, I got enchiladas & all was just off & cold in the center... they might be using a microwave to heat the food. I had to wait 22 minutes to be seated because there was no host/hostess in the front. My fiance noticed the staff was in one corner near the back, flirting around with each other or talking & not anyone working. It was a sad experience. We were seated and after 25 minutes with no one even come by to take drink order we had to find a waitress and ask who I server was. After another 5-10 waitress came and took food a drink order. Food and drinks finally arrived. Order was missing items drinks were watered down. Waitress never came back to table. We sat at table needing refills waitress never came back . I found manager and expressed my displeasure with serve . I asked if we could get check as waitress had not been to table almost an hour ago since taking order. We chose this place due to the decent reviews, time of the day, and the fact that we are passing by through. Number one issue as we walked in the doors was that the place was dirty and dingy looking. It took several minutes for the hostess to seat us. Our waitress was exceptionally slow. Also, very rough looking. Tattoos all over her neck and she was smacking her gum as we ordered. Husband ordered steak fajitas. I got two tamales with rice and beans. Food wasn't very good. The steak reminded me a VERY thin strips of stir fry meat. My tamales were 98% breaded, hardly any meat. When the check was ready we waited 10 minutes for her to pickup the check. She looked at us three times but never came over. Finally we left cash. Overall, I would not go back. I don't know how anyone could even give more than 2 stars for this restaurant! Okay we got there and the staff where very nice but that's about it. We got our food and it did not look to bad but as soon as we started the nightmare began! My wife had a rib eye but the steak on the plate was not close to an rib eye , her order was medium - well it came medium-rare , the vegetables where still hard so you could tell they use frozen veggies and than there weren't even cooked and unseasoned, the potato was not cooked all the way! After we told the staff that she brought it back to the kitchen about 4 min later we got the food back same steak and veggies still not cooked at all. I ordered a variation of beef , pork , chicken and shrimp. The beef was tried out the pork had a nasty taste and the shrimps were burned. So all in all it was the worst Mexican place I ever been to and I love Mexican food. Oh the price of 45 $ makes it even worse. read more

Have been going here forever, and on December 4, 2020 it has appears the salsa has changed. It is absolutely trash and has an unpleasant odor. I stopped in for lunch here on my drive back to New Orleans. I had the enchiladas verdes which came with one chicken, one beef and one cheese enchilada with mild green chili sauce and a side salad. The food was fresh, not greasy at all (a big thing with me for Mexican food), and homemade. This was such a better option than stopping in a chain place. I recommend. Very good! read more

First thing I noticed when we came in, place was very clean. Staff greeted us as soon as we came through the dooor and sat us at a table. Our meals came out quickly and hot. Food was excellent. Wife had the pollo loco and I had a tamale and a chimichanga. Price was cheap and our glasses never got close to being empty. Just can't ask anymore from a restaurant than that. So if you are on the road in this neck of the woods. Stop in if you are looking for a good meal. read more

Not a customer friendly place. Friend ordered chicken with cheese. Had very little cheese. Ask for more and they refused. Rather than give him a few cents more cheese the guy threw the 13.00 meal in the garbage. The waitress had a difficult time remembering order But apparently they can't write things down. The response from the manager to our complaint about cold food was we should have complained when we got the food. We were charged for extra tortillas which we asked 2 different wait staff to bring but never got! We got a single order of fajitas to share and got charged $8 for an extra plate of sides for them. We could've got a double order of fajitas for that much. Just a bad experience overall. Bad food and service plus a bad attitude when we questioned the bill. read more

Best Mexican in Grenada. I has the polo adobo. Amazing cream sauce over chicken. My husband had the Tex Mex burrito and loved it. The no way Jose was recommended by locals and doesn't even compare in taste or quality. It was our first trip to Grenada for Crappie Masters tournament. Excellent!!! Margaritas are great. Children's menu has quite a few choices. Cheese dip is great! Enchiladas Verdes and Carnitas are to die for! We went here on the drive from Iowa to New Orleans and the food was great! No complaints, branched out and got something different and it was delicious - some kind of chicken rice cheese dish. Me and my father were on our way home from a road trip and are very picky about where we eat, and and we went in many restaurants near here and walked out. This is the only good place in a 30 mile radius we could find. Service was great and very kind. The sweet tea is extremely good for a Mexican place. They were very patient with our order, they helped us find what we wanted since we hadn't eaten here before. The food came out super quickly, almost immediately after being ordered. The Service was good but the food was not at all what either one of us thought it should have been. This is one of the most hit and miss restaurants that I have ever been to. I mean I went there one time and it was really good then the next time it would be the worst place I have ever been. Since I live in Grenada where the choice of restaurants are not that great anyway, you keep wanting to give a place chance after chance which I have done with La-Cabana. One time I ordered a taco salad there, and it was filled with just liquid grease. It was obvious what it was but the waiter tried to say it was cheese sauce. They do not use cheese sauce in the taco salads! He reluctantly took it back. The beans are also not that good, one time I went there they were actually grey..and tasted worse than the looked. A few times I have been there and got decent food, but lately, I have decided its not worth the chance. I would rather go to No Way Jose. Don't waste your time. Nasty dive with the WORST ever mojo de ajo. The shrimp was a rubberized, microwaved, pathetic excuse for Diablo shrimp. My onions on my fajita taco salad were barely seared in the pan, much less carmelized. One or two chunks of bell pepper was all that was in my dish & it was only warmed, definitely not cooked.
