Great customer service and delicious food are what I received here with my visit yesterday. It was so good, that I forgot to take pictures but did remember to check in. Anyway, since it's Friday and in Mississippi and decided to get Catfish meal. My waitress recommended baked beans and green beans to go with entree. I'm glad I listened to her because it was great and she took care of me. I didn't know this restaurant was here and have passed it many times going home over the years. But, I'm glad I found it. I'm glad my husband and I stopped while in town. The place looks very nice and clean. Our waitress was very sweet, attentive and really had a great personality. Their magazine type menu was pretty neat idea. Our food exceeded what we expected. I mean, even my salad had a lot of flavor. Everything tasted fresh. The price is a bit much, BUT you get what you pay for because not only does it all taste great, they give you a good amount. I couldn't even finish my brisket badass. That sausage and cheese platter surprised me with those fried jalapeños. I've never had them and now I need to make them at home. From the minute you walk in, everything just feels comfortable. First off, let me start by saying the items that were ordered by our family was absolutely DELICIOUS! I almost don't want to draw any attention to the restaurant, because I would like to keep this little gem hidden; but I can't be selfish. We ordered fried green tomatoes, loaded pulled pork baked potato, ribs, and I could go on all day. Let's just say that this is the best food that I have eaten out in a restaurant in a very long time. We ordered ahead online, but made better time than we expected, so we got to meet the warm, welcoming staff and spend a little time in the gorgeous dining space. We were pleasantly surprised at the spicy kick in the bbq sauce. The grill & pit masters know what their bbq is about. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and the brisket was melt-in-your-mouth perfect even cold the following day. The real show-stealer, though, was the brisket pizza. We've not had anything quite like it, and all the flavors from smoky brisket, to spicy bbq, to salty cheese, to herbed crust came together in a dish nothing short of perfection. We ordered the 3 piece catfish.. it was good but a little on the "fishy" side as far as catfish goes. The hush puppies were OVER COOKED!! The fries were awesome! The service was good. Our waitress was helpful and got what we needed. The place is on the small side. The tables are just a few inches apart. Although the inside and outside are very nice, The volume of the amount of food you get is not worth the time to eat here (I guess they have to skimp on the food amount to pay for the nice building). I really appreciated the service here. The waitress was very kind, and attentive. My family tried the fried crawfish, baked potato, side salad & buffalo chicken tenders. The crawfish breading was nice & flaky, fried to perfection. The potato salad had a heavy pickle presence, but was still pretty decent to me. My daughter seemed to enjoy her tenders, and potato. My mother seemed to enjoy her salad. It's very clean, and neat in the establishment. They offer outdoor seating too. We were fishing Grenada Lake and came here on a recommendation. Tried to order 2 different kinds of beer, both out. Then came food time. Out of the side I wanted. Waitress made a recommendation which I took but she failed to mention it was a $3 up charge which I found out when I got my ticket. The biggest surprise (or aggravation) was getting our tickets and learning we had been charged for water!! I've eaten all over the country and never had to pay for water. SUMMARY: If you love smokey meats and interesting, flavorful sides, you might be disappointed. Otherwise the food is OK. I will not be able to recommend Magnolia Smokehouse. I really want to recommend every smokehouse that I eat at, but this one just did not do a very good job of their presumed goal of offering smoked meats. However, all the food they did serve was thoroughly edible, it just didn't seem that the meats I ordered had been smoked much at all except for the ribs. I can only give this restaurant a middling rating. For your reference, these types of smoked meats should display a prominent smoke ring (a region of pink colored meat visible in the outermost portion of the smoked meat). Also, to make sure you don't think I'm new to smoked meats, I eat at smoker style BBQ restaurants often, and I've done so for the past 22 years. At Magnolia Smokehouse I ordered ribs, pulled pork, chicken, and brisket. The pulled pork, the chicken, and the brisket showed no sign of having been smoked - either visually or by flavor. The chicken was - as far as I could tell - just oven-baked chicken. It tasted fine but it showed no visual sign of having been smoked and it had no smoky taste. The menu specifically called this item "smoked chicken." The menu does not describe the pulled pork or the brisket as smoked, and that leads me to believe that they probably were not. For both of these items there was definitely no visible smoke ring and no taste of smoke at all. In addition, the pulled pork was served colder than room temperature and the brisket was served after apparently having been reheated. The brisket was a uniform gray color, covered in grease, and was unusually hot for freshly sliced brisket. That leaves the ribs, which were VERY good, VERY tasty, and were definitely smoked - they had a prominent smoke smoke ring visible on each piece. However, these were by far the 2 smallest pork ribs I have been served. Based on this one experience with the smoked meats alone, I cannot recommend Magnolia Smokehouse, but it will do if you are not a big fan of the smokey flavor that can be had with wood-smoked meats. As I said earlier, the food was all quite edible, it was just not what I had hoped for and not what I have enjoyed at every other smokehouse BBQ joint I've visited. I will also take this opportunity to mention the 2 sides that I had. I had the corn nuggets and the fried okra. I feel that these items were not prepared in-house but we're received by the restaurant frozen and just fried to order. There was nothing wrong with these 2 sides, but they were just bland and underwhelming. Magnolia Smokehouse has plenty of room to improve especially with their smoked meats. I think - as if the owners want my opinion - that the pulled pork and the chicken need to be smoked to the point where the smoke ring is clearly visible and the smoky taste is easily detectable. Also, the brisket needs to be smoked to where the smoke ring is clearly visible (perhaps for 10-12 hoursat the apprpropriate temperature). The brisket also needs to be sliced and put in a container where it is not sitting in hot fat before being served. As noted above, my brisket was greasy, a uniform gray color, and unusually hot for brisket in my experiance I am giving Magnolia Smokehouse a middling rating because everything was perfectly edible, but nothing was exceptional except for the ribs and even the ribs were unusually small. Not recommended for fans of smoked meats. read more

I'm always looking for a local business to support in my travels. I ordered a ribeye then a filet, they were out of both. All they had left was a 12oz ribeye. Ok, no problem. It came out WAY overcooked and the baked potato was hard as a rock that had scorched cheese on it from the microwave. For a $37 steak, it was terrible. I ate what I could then when my son asked for the bathroom, it didn't work so they sent him to a liquor store across the parking lot that needed lots of attention, ugh. Service was good and efficient, the food, however, was over priced for the quality. $5 for a small portion of Mac & Cheese - it was not homemade and looked and tasted like it came out of a pan from the food vendor. Great atmosphere and good food! We had a great dinner here with our family. Ordered fried mushrooms and pork rinds for apps. Shrooms had a nice kick and went well with the comeback sauce. Ribs had the perfect amount of pull. Just enough to keep them on the bone and not much effort required for them to pull away. House BBQ has a great balance of flavor and heat. My daughter said the grilled cheese was really good and ate all of it. Catfish was fried fresh and just right. Steaks are some of the best in the area! Internal temp is always done just how you like it. Don't leave without getting banana pudding. Even if you don't have room for dessert, take it home for later. We provided a revised order to a very limited menu at 4:30pm on. Sat. (Their online advertisements and what is on the menu are not the same.)Then it took 20 more minutes to put it together and another 5 after we asked for some barbecue sauce. Normally we like this place; friendly staff, good food, but this was an off night. Don't come in the evening on the weekends. Besides the screaming drunk girls at the bar, the wait staff seemed rushed and inattentive. We all ordered burgers and a platter of the loaded fries. Now the loaded fries taste great but the plate was very small, especially for $11. Worse it was cold and the cheese was congealed so it had been sitting out awhile. The waitress also forgot about our tea until after the meal came~`which was okay, stuff happens, but between that, the screaming drunk girls at the bar who kept kicking buckets of water everywhere, the cold $11 fries on the tiny tin plate, and my everything burger which came with nothing on it (no cheese, no lettuce, no condiments) I was beginning to get annoyed. Still, I understood. I asked for them to heat up the fries and bring me my dressed burger. I got an annoyed huff and a glare when I also requested sweetener for our tea and napkins. By the time my burger came back out, the others in my party had already eaten and still no sweetener or napkins. Even then I had to ask for a slip of cheese because my cheeseburger was still naked and the $11 fries were still cool to the touch but better than nothing. Our waitress was also noticeably unhappy with me in particular for asking for my order to be corrected because everyone else had their drink refilled twice but mine didn't until my husband asked her to refill my glass, which she did~but only halfway. I'd laugh if that meal didn't cost me $57. Yup, I pad $57 for a plate of cold fries, 3 burgers, and a half glass of unsweetened iced tea. I'm not a Karen. I don't complain without cause and my only request was to get the dressed burger I ordered and the fries hot. I was polite in the face of rudeness and I will probably go there again...after forgetting tonight and probably for lunch instead of dinner on a weekend. I didn't give it one star because the food was good, just not hot, but the waitstaff needs serious training. In addition to the rude waitress the busboy kept wanting to snatch our plates while we were still eating. My experience was less than ideal. They were out of everything that was on the menu, I do want to mention it was a Monday so they may have had a busy weekend prior. However, it took 40 minutes for me to receive cold food and they weren't even busy! To add, the food was pricey!! Would have been a good place,If they didn't show racism. The tried to seat a couple that came inside last as we were already waiting to be seated. Then after being seated, they waited on the couple that was seated after us first as if they were more important!! Didn't come to our table for drinks or anything, so we got up and walked away. As we were walking out,the person at the door that tried to skip us smiled as it was funny or something and said sarcastically with a smerk " Have a nice day! " A restaurant like that will never get my business again. Let me preface this by saying I've worked in the service industry for 15 years. Lunch shift around 12:30 (It was not exceptionally busy). There was about a 10 min wait to get greeted after being seated (understandable). Finally got a server (super energetic and sweet, definitely appreciated) approx 45 min wait on food. My father ordered the leg quarters, fries, baked beans. The chicken without a doubt mimicked frozen chicken that had maybe been partially in the oven the microwaved. Extremely dry, very few beans, and the fries came out about 5-7 min afterward. condiments forgotten (also understandable, I've done that myself). I ordered the loaded kettle chips, pretty good by the way however there were fries mixed In my order Which wouldve been fine with me however they wouldve Chipped a tooth they were so hard (maybe literally, maybe not but this is just bad). there are always factors like being short handed, etc however I just feel like some matters should've been addressed differently and hopefully the food will improve for their business. Tried to eat at Magnolia Smokehouse...Never experienced such rude service in my life. I didn't get my food until the whole party was leaving. They brought my food out in a to go box as everyone was leaving. Asked for a sprite to go that had food particles in it. Waitress did not want to even give me another drink. Finally did after repeatedly telling me she didn't see anything. Sat in my truck attempting to eat my brisket pizza only to find a piece of gray white hair in it. Took it back in there only to be told she doesn't see it. I told her I don't eat hair and I don't have a reason to lie. She thought I said I don't eat here and she says well good. She proceeds to tell me some people just can't be pleased and they don't have anyone with white hair back there. While she's talking, an older lady with white hair comes out the back. Waitress says I don't have time for this s#**. Almost knocks over the other waitress. Puts $6.50 on the counter and walks off.
