The waiter is very knowledgeable about all of the daily specials and has so many stories about the history of the restaurant. The owner also came out to personally ask us about our meal. Awesome experience from beginning to end! Our first visit here, meeting our family from Staten Island in a convenient spot for all,of us. Went here for a 2 year anniversary date with my girlfriend and we loved it! When we walked in, the man behind the bar immediately said what table I was at after I said my name. Our waiter was amazing and extremely accommodating. He also engaged in conversation with us about what the occasion was for a special lunch, which I thought was very nice. He went into detail about all the specials and happily answered all our questions. I got the chicken principessa over linguini and it was an amazing choice. The flavors blended together so well to create a juicy, well-seasoned meal. My girlfriend got the chicken special, a lemony chicken over linguini. I ordered Rigatoni Bolognese. The menu stated "a touch of cream". I thought I would get a traditional hearty meat sauce with a red wine reduction. Instead, I got what looked like vodka pasta with some meat sprinkled top in a heavy pink cream sauce. The staff was so accommodating and I give them an A for effort, but they remade my dish with a red sauce that tasted like a jar of Ragu with added black pepper and a crushed meatball on top. Wow! What a great place! We walked in and I advised the waiter anticipating our arrival that we had a 7PM reservation. The gentleman behind the bar casually said 'table 7' after hearing my name. I have eaten here twice: once for takeout and once in the restaurant. In the restaurant, we had a 5-star experience. The fresh pasta was amazing and there was great service. The only negative is that it's very dark inside! The 4-star review is because of our takeout experience. Alone, the takeout experience is a 2/3. We both ordered the same thing we had in person a few weeks before. That food was good, but the pasta didn't seem freshly made this time. Also, we added clams oreganata this time. We each took one bite and threw the rest away. They tasted absolutely horrible. It's one thing to not love the flavors, but it's another to throw it away because of how much you can't stomach the quality of the food. I'm not sure if we will be returning here. It's a cute restaurant, the staff was so friendly. We got the Today's special burrata app, pork chop, and pistachio gelato. Before I go into the food we ordered, CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE BREAD PLEASE. The bread was AMAZING. Perfectly fluffy, the crust was spot on, and it was so nicely warmed. The butter just melted on the bread. I asked for some vinegar and oil so if you prefer that you can ask for it. BUT TRY WITH THE BUTTER FIRST. They give you a salad too. It was a normal house salad. The burrata app was okay, I think I'd try the stuffed artichoke next time. The roasted peppers that came with it was absolutely amazing though. The pork chop was AMAZING! Juicy and tender. The roasted veggies was AMAZING. The potato soaked up all the deliciousness. It was huge! I only ate a quarter. Looking forward to my leftovers :D The pistachio gelato was also amazing. LOVEEE it. There were some larger groups which added to the high noise level. It took 10-15 minutes for our server to get to us and read the specials from a cell phone. We opted to order off the menu after a basket of warm bread was brought to our table. All entrees were served with a complimentary salad and were rather ordinary. We stopped in after reading reviews. We are not from the area; staying at a local hotel as we prepare to grab a flight early the next morning. I am so glad we decided to dine here. First of all let me strongly suggest to make reservations; we were there and literally saw about 5 different groups come in without reservations and were turned away. We were lucky enough to grab 2 bar stools and dined at the bar. While at the bar we were personally taken cared of by one of the owners, Brian. Brian was awesome, he served drinks, took customers to their tables and provided great conversation as we waited for our meals. For starters we had The antipasto Freddo which was an assortment of Italian cured meats and cheeses. The meats were sliced paper thin and were absolutely delicious. It was a generous portion. For our entrees my girlfriend had the chicken and sausage special served with potatoes, peppers and onions. The chicken special was so good. Very flavorful and a generous portion. I had the 10oz fillet Magnon special served with veggies. The steak was cooked perfectly and the veggies were perfect! For dessert we had the tiramisu which no joke had to be the top 3 tiramisu I've had EVER!!!! Hidden gem as some other yelpers mentioned! It was a Saturday night gathering with my college friends and we're looking for a place to dine. I'm so happy that through yelp, La Campagnola appears from one of my searches. We called ahead of time to make reservations for 6pm. There's limited parking in front of the restaurant. It's located nearby some warehouses and to be honest, one can easily be fooled by the outside appearance of this restaurant. Once inside, we were greet by some friendly staff and Tony, our waiter, provided us menu and gave us the specials of the day which I swear was like 20 different dishes and he just knew what was included in the dish and how it is cooked and seasoned. We're so impressed, Tony! After placing our orders and drinks, came the complimentary so warm bread and a dish of bruschetta on sliced bread. Both was delicious and devoured in no time and soon we had asked for more while we waited for our dinner. I had ordered the salmon tops with white sauce and shrimps. It's comes with broccoli and potatoes. All dinner menu comes with complimentary side salad. Tony was right on beat and came by several times to check if we needed any. Um, yes, more bread please! Dessert menu was quite impressive and if I wasn't so darn stuffed on the bread, I would have room for some dessert. Next time, we will definitely be back to try out other dishes. read more

A bit of a late review but we dined here back in Feb. 13, 2021 at 5:30 pm and chose that day specifically to celebrate Valentine's early and safely. We called to reserve and got seated right away. Their facade looks cute and cozy sandwiched in between some industrial/office buildings. When we got seated, there was only one other group in their inner room and we're basically seated next to them. I asked the Maitre D if we could choose the table by the corner because, Covid. But he said it's already reserved too.. so all the time I was there, I was eyeing the same corner and it wasn't until we paid for our food that I saw someone got seated there.. I wish they could've controlled their capacity for occupancy because I didn't feel socially distanced at all. People started trickling in after 6:30pm and almost feels too crowded having 4-5 groups in the small inner room. Other than that, the service of our server was superb! Vicente has been very attentive with our requests. We ordered several dishes to try but first - honorable mention to their bread that some other people might overlook. I think it sets great precedence to the whole food experience. Love their calamari too. So so tender, not overly crispy and just the right saltiness. For our main dishes, we had the Chicken Francese , Carbonara, Steak Campagnola, Seafood Panella, and Vodka Scaffatone. They were all equally amazing and definitely satisfied our cravings. If the Sopranos lived in Union County, this is where they would dine. La Campagnola has a sharp focus on food and service above all else. While they're located in an industrial part of town, they're sweetly refined inside and provide a small and quaint dining area. Our waiter Tony was just terrific -- so personable, good-humored, and had an expertise in Italian food that truly glowed. Their menu is extensive and their waiters memorize a long specials list as well. It can occasionally be pricey though, as my father's ribeye from the specials menu was just under $50, so it's worth asking the price if you order from there. I loved my Vodka Scaffatone dish; the sauce was absolutely addicting and perfectly savory. My parents as well were thrilled with their dinners. Would happily dine here again. read more
