Sadly, its been 11 years since my last visit and I don't know why. My wife and I visited on a Saturday evening and did not have to wait for a table, however, don't be fooled because the restaurant was crowded. It's a BYOB. After you order, they bring out very nice fresh and warm rolls with butter. My wife and I began with the Bruschetta which was really tasty. Four long toasted slices smothered with a very tasty tomato, onion, etc. I ordered the pasta special with was a spicy pappardelle with capers, anchovies, olives, and sea scallops. The portion was very generous with the right amount of heat. Great choice. My wife ordered the homemade fusilli pasta with crumbled sausage and broccoli rabe. It was excellent. I know because I ate her leftovers the next day for lunch. The prices were very reasonable and the service was very good. There is plenty of parking in the municipal lots and some street parking. Just know that this restaurant only takes American Express or cash. It is mentioned on their menu and there is an ATM in the back of the restaurant. We didn't know until we arrived and ordered. No big deal for us and we paid cash. I'll try to get back sooner than 11 years. read more

This place ONLY accepts American Express credit cards or Cash only. I did not realize this until I was already seated and I had already placed my drink order. It is on the menu, but if you don't look, you may miss it. Just because of that, I will not return. In my honest opinion that's kind of weird that they only accept American Express. Yes they do have an ATM in their restaurant so you could withdraw cash but I didn't really wanna worry about ATM fees. Luckily a bank I use is close by so I was able to go withdraw cash from there. If I had realized this beforehand, I would have not dined in at this restaurant. Luckily, my sister had offered to run to the bank to withdraw the cash and I'm glad that our waiter was patient while we went to our bank to get cash. As for the food, it isn't worth the headache of having to get cash or worry if you have an American Express card. The Margherita pizza we ordered looked like a cheese pizza. I mean the cheese pizza was good but when I imagined a Margherita pizza, I had a different type of pizza in mind. Unless there are different versions of Margherita pizza. I ordered the antipasto salad which wasn't too bad. I enjoyed my salad for the most part. My sister got the Penne Alla Vodka and our friend got the Alfredo pasta. We all agreed that the food was average and the pricing is pretty reasonable. Overall, would I return? Probably not just because of the American Express and cash only payment option. It isn't really worth it in that case. But I will admit the service was awesome and the people were definitely friendly. read more

They don't take credit cards, only one exception for Amex cards. They don't disclose this anywhere and have no signs, which is very disingenuous. Then of course you had to use their atm. On top of that the food lacks flavor. There's no need to go to this place when there are so many other good Italian restaurants nearby. read more

Not only was last night the first time I've been to this restaurant, but it was the first time I've been to Westfield. The town and the restaurant were excellent! On a June Saturday night, there's outdoor dining all over and plenty of people. Friends of ours had previously dined at the Brick Oven and recommended it, so we met them there for dinner. It's a BYOB, which we always like. The service was very good. We had 2 waiters taking care of our table. They were attentive, but didn't rush us at all. We shared appetizers of garlic shrimp and portobello mushrooms, then split a couple of salads. The shrimp was very good, especially with bread to dip in the sauce. Our entrees ranged from balsamic chicken to my bracciole. The bracciole was very tender and delicious. We topped off the meal by splitting a tiramisu. If you're in Westfield looking for some good Italian food, I can recommend the Brick Oven! read more

The food was delicious here but the service was awful. It's a BYOB place and we brought prosecco and he opened it for us, but didn't pour it. The server also did not introduce himself to us and never checked in on us once, never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. He also didn't give us an ice bucket for our prosecco. He never checked in on us after we got our food and then gave us a check. Although I enjoyed my food, I wouldn't come back here. It's either cash only or AMEX also. read more

went for lunch and even though it was very busy we got our food in 10 minutes we immediately got served a big basket of red hot fresh baked rolls right out of the brick oven the lunch portion of my delicous spaghetti was huge big chunky homemade tomato sauce the thin perfectly crusty pizza had lots of fresh chopped mushrooms and artichoke hearts and thin rounds of eggplant soft mozzarella and just enough sauce once again fast and hot out of the brick oven on display in the back of the dining room we ate up the stairs that over looked the main dining room below , a lovely old fashioned atmosphere i can see why the brick oven has been in business same owners for over thirty years read more

The food was very good. I received the check. I asked if they took debit cards. Told they only accept Amex. I still have one, but rarely use it. Nothing on the bill about credit card surcharge, but sure enough it was added, and the signature slips were returned without the itemized check, just the credit card total. I absolutely loved the outdoor dining on the closed off street but was disappointed by the quality of the food. I found a lot of the food to be overly salty, which says a lot coming from me. This is the second time we've been here and the service is always great. The aesthetic is beautiful, dimly lit dining room which makes this the perfect intimate date night spot. We had Pizza alla Diavola, which was a pepperoni pizza. The pizza was the perfect amount of greasy with a thinner crust. We also ate a pasta special, which was homemade spicy pappardelle sautéed in a light marinara sauce with shrimp and little neck clams. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. Came here before the opening of a new brewery a few blocks away, very good experience! Food: when a place serves a very good free basket of bread, you know it's a good start. I ended up going with the ravioli along with my friend and my wife got the salad. We were also given chicken barley soup that came complimentary which was good, albeit thin. The ravioli was amazing though and definitely led to a solid meal. Service: our service was very good and prompt, though there were not many people there which may be why. Great place to come for quality homemade Italian food if you are in the area. Had a few dishes from here over the years and they have not strayed at all. The prices are fair and the staff is friendly. This place is almost always packed especially on the weekends. They have outdoor seating now with the pandemic which is nice when the weather is good. My friend and I came across this place as we were walking through Westfield. Decided on this place due to their ample outdoor seating area. They didn't have umbrellas up, so I did get sunburned - but that's kinda my fault for not wearing sunscreen. Anyway, the food is good enough. Fairly good Italian. What you expect and nothing more. I had the Insalata Di Bistro E Penne, which had GREAT grilled chicken. Falls apart easily and is warm and juicy. Colorful salad that is great for a moderate sized lunch. Service was fine. Why 4 stars? Price honestly. Pizza is great but only personal. Imagine my surprise when my total was over 50.00 for 4 small pizzas. I can't deny these aren't authentic Italian pizzas but for over 12.50 per pop, I wouldn't have ordered this for a Friday night in with the kids (kids I nanny). Another concern- The margarita pizza was mediocre. I was expecting big circles of fresh mozzarella cheese. What I got was honestly just a "plain" pizza. Which makes that 12.50+ burn a little more. So why 4 stars? The eggplant parmesan pizza. Oh my! Wow. A whole star for just one pizza. See my attached photos! The eggplant was sliced so thin and baked just the right amount. If was I wasn't watching the minions; this pizza fresh and hot with a bottle would be the perfect date night. Other things to note- they don't deliver, so you have to call a delivery service. The Brick Oven is a small, intimate restaurant with a warm and cozy interior. The lighting sets the mood and the restaurant has an interesting multi-level dining area with one section being raised up. I really admire the unique layout. Complimentary bread came with the meal. It's perfectly fluffy and light so it won't fill you up too quickly before the main course. The pizza is phenomenal. The crust is perfectly thin. The sauce is light and sweet with good ratios to the fresh, greasy cheese. I really enjoyed the pizza. The staff was also quite friendly and attentive. To begin this review i'll start by reviewing the ambiance and vibe of the place. The lighting is horrendous I actually almost puked from this lighting. Next the apps, the mushroom was delish and calamari was stellar, but the lighting made me want to puke it all out. We got some penne vodka, chicken Alfredo, salad pizza, and pepperoni pizza. Pepperoni Pizza: It smelled like a fishs booty, and the pepperoni was swimming in the grease of the pizza. Because of the grease everything fell of the pizza and you had to eat it after disclaimer ask for utensil's Salad Pizza: Parmigiana was not fresh at all, and I would know because I milked the goats in Italy. Lettuce would easily fall of pizza and was curiously warm but the chicken noodle was delicious, disclaimer do not order on first date, green stuff gets stuck in your teeth. Chicken Alfredo: Very yummy and tasty. Penne Vodka: There we're thousands of peas!! who even has that big of bag of peas. The pasta was obviously bought from costco @barilla. I would know because I used to make fresh pasta with my grandma in Italy. Nothing great and not what he wanted to eat. I ordered the pollo sorrento and was not impressed. It tasted strongly of the Marsala wine which was over powering the entire dish I am not sure if the cooking staff has changed but previously the salads, pizzas and food was very good. We were super disappointed this time around. With Fiamma, casa di pizza, and Ferrero's all on the same block, it would be a tough to come back here soon. read more

My critique is that it's really dark inside and while to food is good there are several solid Italian food choices locally. so far i tried the spaghetti Pomodoro and the margarita pizza. pasta 5 stars, loved it, finished it all. pizza 4 stars, good but didn't wow me. the crust is thinner than i'd like but i did eat a good amount of the pie and took the rest home. maybe i'll try another pie one day but i do like the pasta more. their bread is also very good. i think its mostly dinner roll type. comes out warm. read more

This is a Byob place Their menu is one page only and they always have specials. We ordered: -arugula and pear salad $9.95. The serving is really for 2. Ive been here several times and all their salads are excellent. They give enough pear and they're in season and very sweet. The dressing is balsamic, not too vinegary, not too sweet and not too salty. Just right blend. - buffalo style calamari ( on specials)- calamari was tender . Not too much breading or loaded w. too much sauce, not too salty or too spicy. The dish was garnished with mini but crispy slices of plain pizzette -my entree, my go-to-food here is Grilled salmon w/ crusted herbs I always ask for vegetables on the side ,in place of pasta. the salmon is without the skin but yet it's served crispy and hot in temperature. They give skimpy amount of green beans, carrots and 3 big wedges of potatoes on the side. They don't indicate what's gluten -free , or dairy free on their menu. read more

Tonight was ravioli night for us, original ravioli in red sauce and mushroom ravioli in cream sauce. Delicious. So usually we go there because we LOVE their focaccia bread. It's really more like thin pizza crust with seasoning but we love it. Today, since it was hot, we ordered bruschetta. The soft Italian bread made the bruschetta (usually it's the tomatoes and basil). Here they don't top it off with balsamic. I prefer a good balsamic drizzle on top. I also prefer it with more basil. But it was still good. Something about the bread they used made it so good. Everything was delicious! As a Catholic and being that it's Lent I went with the Rigatoni Siciliano. I'm not crazy about alllll eggplant dishes in general but this one was so! good!...I was going to order the Salmon but my Lovely lunch date had it and that too was also so! good! My dessert, crème brûlée, was frozen. What a disappointment but it's a byob so that to me is a plus. No one at my table liked there food or dessert either.
