    Chicken fajitas
    Holly H.

Not the best service but the food is decent. There's not too many other options in this area so for the area I would say it's good. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they tasted average, nothing too special. Service is very slow here though. Took about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table to take our drink order and restaurant was not busy when we came. Overall, I would probably eat here again if in the area solely because there's not any other options.

Hate to say it but every time I come here I get extremely super slow service and they weren't even busy! We had to flag down the manager 3 different times because our MIA waiter neglected to ever come by our table.....except for when it was time to collect tip; he didn't even wait for us to get up. Food is ok, nothing special. Tasty but just generic tex mex. They do have a good lunch menu selection, alot of choices and lunch portions are served through 5pm. I would give it 3 stars if this review was based solely on quality of food but due to the consistency of terrible service....2 stars it is. Saving grace, strong margaritas!

Wouldn't come here again all around just wasn't good. Food was cold and wasn't worth the money for what it tasted like.

The place was packed, but we were seated in less than 5 minutes, service was good and didn't take long at all... the food was excellent!

I was on a mission to escape the hot humid tropicalesqe afternoon that is a Galveston Texas August day. Daiquiri Time Out popped up while spinning the Roulette Wheel that is Yelp. So,with door code in hand I headed out. Taking note of another Yelpers recommendation to arrive early as the place is small and fills up,we did. On the far edge of downtown in a non descript building this bar, billed as a speakeasy, sat. The sidewalk was melting under my feet as I walked towards the door. No entry code needed. After my eyes adjusted, what I saw wasn't what I expected. Dirty Dancing+Saturday Night Fever+Ms Kitty's Gun Smoke saloon had a strange feel. Ok, let's go. We, as the first guest of the soon to be 5'oclock crowd approached the bartender, alone behind a just right mixing station. After perusing a menu of specialties and being guided through a few questions,we ordered. The good- I found an interesting little place to beat the summer heat and enjoy a decent drink. Not so good- not as billed. Overall no quirkiness or unique qualities to write home about. No snackes served with each drink as described by others. Once the place started filling up and I started my second adult beverage, things were looking up. Go,but with lowered expectations.

I chose a large order of the boiled shrimp appetizer and my husband ordered the fish tacos with charo beans. We shared and it was plenty of food (maybe too much) for lunch. The shrimp was clearly fresh but seasoned with a taste I didn't care for, however my husband liked it fine. I covered up the taste with cocktail sauce. It must be a local preference. Our server was the very best! She gave us great advice on what to order. She was friendly and attentive without being interrupting. Her name is Hillary and she is a real credit to the restaurant.

We gave it a shot when we first moved from the NASA area four years ago, so it was about time. I loved the fact they were open on Memorial Day, and they didn't seem to be too busy. Mostly golfers and their ilk. Our server was Kaitlyn, who was very fast. She reminded me of Mary Lou Retton. Very fast. Almost too fast? I asked a question about the amount of breading in the crab cake, and she said there was none. Seems unlikely, since crab cakes need a binder. I am intolerant of the gluten, so when she said the crab cakes had no binder, I was hesitant. I took the safe road and ordered the cucumber snacker and a boudin ball. My BF ordered a ribeye, and (because he thought he was super hungry), ordered chips and salsa as a starter. Kaitlyn brought out my wine and our chips and salsa straight away. The chips were very stale, the salsa was tasty but a little spicy for my taste. Everything arrived at our table at the same time, even though I ordered two apps as my meal. Kudos to Kaitlyn. The cucumbers were good, especially with the jalapeño ranch. No one can mess up a cucumber, but the jalapeño ranch was tasty. My boudin ball was meh. My BF ordered his ribeye medium temperature, and it arrived rare. Kaitlyn checked in on us a couple of minutes after the food arrived. He told her about the steak and she quickly whisked it away. ~5 minutes later, someone delivered the new steak. My BF enjoyed the new steak, baked potato and salad. When we visited four years ago, we felt rushed. I felt rushed this time as well. Obviously, Tia Juanita's is doing very well. You can't swing a rope without seeing another TJ's in SETX. It's probably just not our jam. I like a nice meal without feeling rushed. I also prefer to eat with a proper fork and knife. I would, however, like for the manager to respectfully respond to negative reviews. They seem to respond to positive reviews only.
