He acted like it was my fault the food was cold and wrong. I told him I just wanted the receipt and he tried to charge for a meal we never even got they forgot about one person. Not the best service but the food is decent. There's not too many other options in this area so for the area I would say it's good. I ordered the chicken fajitas and they tasted average, nothing too special. Service is very slow here though. Took about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table to take our drink order and restaurant was not busy when we came. I travel to Orange for work often, and one time happened upon La Cantina due to it being open late-ish on a Sunday night - I have since been back on a different work trip because the food was so good! I recommend the Las Tortugas and the tacos - The Crazy Shrimp were my faves. Hate to say it but every time I come here I get extremely super slow service and they weren't even busy! We had to flag down the manager 3 different times because our MIA waiter neglected to ever come by our table.....except for when it was time to collect tip; he didn't even wait for us to get up. Food is ok, nothing special. Tasty but just generic tex mex. They do have a good lunch menu selection, alot of choices and lunch portions are served through 5pm. EL SE DISCULPO y solo fue a traerle otro plato igual a mi hija pero sin cabello, no me cobro por el que se devolvió, pero el que sustituyo si estuvo en la cuenta al final, según ellos fue la mejor reacción. Mi hija ya no pudo comer y lo empacamos para llevar despues del accidente QUE FUE EL 15 DE FEBRERO DEL 2022, por la tarde, me llevó una muy mala experiencia y un gran motivo por No Regresar YO entiendo que puede pasar somos humanos, pero me quede insatisfecha con la solución, ya que no me quitó el sinsabor de lo vivido en el establecimiento. Sentí que había tenido al frente a trabajadores que, claramente, no habían sido instruidos sobre el buen trato al consumidor, ni se les había enseñado conceptos como los del valor agregado y el vínculo emocional de los clientes. My daughter could no longer eat and we packed it to take away aftrer the accident THAT WAS ON FEBRUARY 15, 2022, in the afternoon, it led to a very bad experience and a great reason for Not Returning I understand what can happen we are human, but I was dissatisfied with the solution, since it did not take away the unpleasantness of what I experienced in the establishment. I felt that the workers who were in charge, clearly, had not been instructed on good treatment to the consumer, nor had they been taught concepts such as added value and the emotional bond of customers. Although we live in Austin, my husband and I own a house in southeast Texas, so we go out there about once a month to maintain the property. Whenever we do, we usually make a point of having at least one meal at La Cantina, which has become my favorite restaurant in Orange. It's the only place I've found so far that's on par with the restaurants in Austin! Their margaritas are big and tasty (bonus!) and I think you can even order a margarita pitcher to share with friends (we did it years ago, so I'm assuming that's still the case). Food-wise, I tend to order the same thing: some variation of their fajitas. And honestly, the best part of their fajitas is this buttery sauce that comes on the side -- I think it's basically butter and chicken broth, but OH MY GOD it's so tasty and I pretty much have to order it every time! Even now, as I'm writing this review here in Austin, I'm dreaming of that butter sauce and thinking we might have to make a trip out there soon! The service can vary -- sometimes it's great, and sometimes it leaves a bit to be desired, but the food is always consistently good. So as long as we own a house in Orangefield and make trips out to the area, I'll be sure to stop by for a meal at La Cantina! read more

I had a birthday party with 35 people. La Cantina did an EXCELLENT job at taking care of us. We had 1 waiter and his helper. He didn't skip a beat. Everyone's food was great and the margaritas are always the best. I love the manager!! She made sure we had a place set up for our cake and was continually checking on things. Super slow service, the queso is velveta, the salsa appeared to have the chef say "put more water in there. We have to make this last!" There was a mysterious green salsa that I ate almost half of thinking that maybe the next bite would have all the missing flavor. I was wrong. The beer was the best part of the meal but I think that was because they have not figured out how to extract the flavor from the keg. In a nut shell this was hospital food for people with gallstones. Highlights from my meal: 1. The GREEN salsa--Oh. My. Amazing. I think it had a cilantro base, possibly a tomatillo base, but whatever it was it was GREEN and it was DELICIOUS. My boyfriend had to physically restrain my from picking up the little bowl and drinking it... 2. I tried a stuffed poblano pepper for the first time and was in love. It was the prefect amount of heat with every bite. My previous experience with a stuffed pepper was the green bell peppers my mom would make when I was little stuffed with rice, cheese, and I think tomatoes. I did not like them. Luckily I was introduced to the tasty goodness that is a stuffed spicy pepper...SO much better mom. 3. The queso dip. I have yet to come across a queso I didn't like. The service does tend to run slowly, but we weren't in a hurry so we didn't care. I never ever refused to pay for my meal, but this was certainly the first. This is a Mexican hole in the wall from hell! We were given dollar store chips with okay red salsa but tastey green salsa. As opener, we ordered bean and cheese nachos. My first impression: Where is the beans? No over exaggeration, each chip had a smidge of cheap tasting beans with government tasting cheese. The lettuce was wilted and diced tomatoes were obviously sitting out for a while. I dreaded out meal. I ordered the pic 3: Chicken Flatus, cheese relleno, and beef taco with beans with rice! OMG Beans finally...but again horrible tasting beans. Rice was ehhh really? After a bite of my beef taco, I was appalled that I was served spoiled meat. It was over salted I guess to cover up the spoil meat? Chicken Flauta was greesy and I questioned if the chicken was cooked right. Rello was filled with government cheese again. I took a bite each, I looked at my partner and he looked like he had the same issues as well. We refused to pay for meal that was HORRIBLE and come one SPOILED meat? HOW is this place still open? About a good 20 minutes passed by and not even a visit of "how is your meal going". We talked out, complained to the manager...and they doubted us. Well if the waiter was attentive, he would have known that we didn't eat our meal instead of confirming? Seriously. And STILL the manager wanted us to pay for our drinks Are. You. Freaking. Kidding. Had late lunch here (2ish)but not again. Front entrance a mess - broken cones all over floor & ice cream machine dirty. Taken back to table, food on chair, ..looked like 'chip fight' took place w/chips all over the floor at many tables..Chips & salsa served us could have been better had the chips had at least been warm. Salsa not bad but bland. Had shrimp quesadilla.. Shrimp inside the quesadilla had shell left on it which made me very cautious about the rest of bites. Food was bland & nothingness! The better items delivered was the sweetened ice tea and the second serving of chips that were served warm . Had emergency stomach stress within 20 minutes after eating & leaving restaurant which sent me to the restroom at my next stop & stomach cramps continued on my return 40 min drive home ...not a good sign! read more

HORRIBLE ROTTEN SHRIMP!!! Me and a couple of friends tried this establishment out today 10/16/15. Our water was very attentive. But that is the only good Hong about our experience. I ordered the taco salad and my friend ordered the fish and shrimp. When the food was brought to the table I picked up a not so pleasant scent. I just passed it off as maybe it was the type a fish and started to eat. The fish and shrimp were pretty crispy and Tasted burnt. The shrimp tasted rotten and the lettuce from the taco salad had a bad Taste. The salad tastes like spoiled milk (best I can describe). The fajita mean tasted off as well. After complaint we left and paid for our drinks but not the food. Will never try this establishment again. Not one thing should be served if it has expired or bad. But when you serve two entrees that taste old or spoiled, that tells me they don't change out food or maybe don't even care about food safety. HORRIBLE!!! read more

It had been a year since my last La Cantina trip in Orange. I've had recent failed attempts at the Beaumont locations ( seriously, read my reviews for those), but had high hopes for the Orange since it was great my last visit. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks and 30 minutes to get guacamole. The guac was terrible. Ive had it plain before and plain has tasted extremely better than this one. Two minutes after the guacamole arrived, so did our food. My flautitas were very good which is why I give them 2 stars. My guess is that the La Cantina chain has experienced a change in management or menu because ive had bad experiences at 3 of them. read more

When you can finally get your order taken its still slow service to get anything else. Table seated 15 mins after U.S. (Next to us and same waiter) got their order and and we still waited trying to get his attention. The food is really good, and the green salsa is some of the best I've had. I wanted to give this more stars, but the service was awful. On a Friday night I didn't expect it to be so empty, and I assumed an empty restaurant meant the service would at least be decent. I was wrong. We sat there for 20 minutes before we got our drinks and another 20 minutes before we were able to place our food orders. The food came out fast and was delicious, but it was nearly impossible to flag down our waiter because he disappeared. My husband had to hunt down a different waiter after we waited 15 minutes for our drinks to be refilled. It could have been great if the service had been better. read more
