I needed a good cold stiff one in an, out of the way place with low light and freezing air conditioning. I was on a mission to escape the hot humid tropicalesqe afternoon that is a Galveston Texas August day. Daiquiri Time Out popped up while spinning the Roulette Wheel that is Yelp. So,with door code in hand I headed out. Taking note of another Yelpers recommendation to arrive early as the place is small and fills up,we did. On the far edge of downtown in a non descript building this bar, billed as a speakeasy, sat. The sidewalk was melting under my feet as I walked towards the door. No entry code needed. After my eyes adjusted,what I saw wasn't what I expected. Dirty Dancing+Saturday Night Fever+Ms Kitty's Gun Smoke saloon had a strange feel. Ok, let's go. We, as the first guest of the soon to be 5'oclock crowd approached the bartender, alone behind a just right mixing station. After perusing a menu of specialties and being guided through a few questions,we ordered. The good- I found an interesting little place to beat the summer heat and enjoy a decent drink. Not so good- not as billed. Overall no quirkiness or unique qualities to write home about. No snackes served with each drink as described by others. Let me talk to you about Daiquiri Time Out. I've only been there once & it was one of those places that left me wishing I lived nearby. They're located in downtown Galveston in a part of town that was once a red light district. Their menu is "beach drinks". That's the vibe. You can get anything from a Negroni or Old Fashioned to a Highball, French 75 and everything in between. I live for that frozen strawberry daiquiri though. The cocktail menu is extensive! Love going to DTO when we visit the Island. Located of The Strand, more so in the Harborside area (locals, LMK if I'm wrong!). It's one of the best craft cocktail destinations on the island - and with a tiki flare. It's great to see it open after almost a decade. (We went there in 2016 when it first opened for a Yelp meetup; got to meet the owner, try some cocktails, and everyone had a great time.) Happy hour is Mon all day and Tue-Fri 4-7pm with $6 cocktails. Such a deal. They now have a "speakeasy" called the Pineapple Parlor. Barkeep told us there'd be a $6 admission per person; and since the space is small, there's limited seating. We opted to stay inside the DTO area for old fashioneds and Southside ($8 gin, lemon, mint). read more

The Antibes from Daiquiri Time Out was beyond good. I ordered it from their Herbacious section of the menu. It was made with gin, grapefruit, Benedictine, and lime. I would've tried more drinks from their menu, but I was saving myself for the Pineapple Parlor. The Pineapple Parlor is a neat little tiki bar tucked away in DTO's outdoor area. It has a speakeasy vibe and delicious drinks that are served with the yummiest food pairings. My tastes buds were blown away. I couldn't pick a favorite, they were all so dang good. My group ordered the El Diablo paired with spicy glazed tofu with seaweed salad, Fog Cutter paired with Thai tomato fried rice with pineapple, Royal Bermuda Yacht Club paired with edamame , and the Volcano Bowl #2 paired with the chef's combo platter. The space in the parlor is very limited and we had to wait an hour to get in. The service at both places was great! This will be a place I visit every time I go to Galveston from now on. read more

Some establishments embrace festivity more seriously than others, and it's pretty obvious where DTO falls on that spectrum. I paid a visit yesterday night with my friend. The interior and exterior are both covered with decorations and their menu exclusively serves holiday-themed drinks around this time. Cocktails ($16) and shots ($8) are a little overpriced, but their presentations make for an applaudable effort. Christmapolitan: Strong vodka taste for a cocktail which overpowered a lot of the other ingredients (e.g. lime, rosemary). I was not a fan of the spiced cranberry sauce. 3/5 Koala LaLaLa: Favorite drink out of the bunch. If I could reverse time, I would have stuck to this drink alone. 5/5 Naughty shot: Doesn't go down the easiest, but it'll grant you the liquid courage you need to breakdance in front of everyone. 3/5 Nice shot (not pictured): I tasted a sample and thought I was accidentally given rubbing alcohol with food coloring. This shot is for psychopaths, masochists, or both. 1/5. Our bartender Campbell was an easygoing dude with an impressive knowledge about drinks. If management allowed him to, I bet he could've served us something better than the entire menu. I personally think that their normal drinks fare better than their holiday ones, but the pleasant overall vibe made up for any shortcomings. read more

The service was great! We had TJ (our main) and Jamie as our bartenders. They gave great recommendations and were very informative about the menu. We also went to their Pink Patio Club for Saturday brunch a the vibes were great. They had a DJ, food, and themed drinks (it's Saturdays and Sundays 12-4). Brad (the owner) was our bartender for that event and those drinks were also great! Highly recommend if you are here before a cruise or just want a good priced drink. read more

I hadn't been to DTO in a while but overall enjoyed my experience. The staff was polite and helpful, though not particularly warm or welcoming. I wasn't greeted or smiled at when I walked in, but they weren't rude and assisted when needed. I ordered a lemon drop martini, which was well-made, though they didn't offer sugar for the rim. The ambiance is great--modern with an electric vibe that makes it stand out. I'd definitely return if I'm in the area, though I'd aim to come during happy hour next time. read more

'Tis the season! My 1st Miracle pop-up visit of the season is officially in the books thanks to DTO Galveston being open on Thanksgiving night. (Whoo-hoo!) I loved my visit, but not only because I'm a miracle pop-up junkie, and have to visit any and all that are within driving distance of wherever I am, always-- but also because I could tell this was a top tier bar with great craft cocktails. For the pop-up, the hubs loves the Snowball old fashioned and I'm a fan of them all (lol, but settled on the Christmapolitan tonight)! The staff was friendly and attentive to patrons, even with the bar being quite busy and churned the drinks out quickly, and they were spot on. The bar is quite clean, and the decor is well thought out. All in all-- DTO is a great stop when visiting Galveston, especially during the holiday season and even moreso w/ the Miracle Pop-Up in tow. We visited several bars while in Galveston and this one was by far our favorite! They have a $6 happy hour for a select menu of cocktails between 4-7. You can't beat that price! We ordered an Old Fashioned, Southside, Hemingway, El Diablo, and Bees Knees. I loved the bees knees and they used real honeycomb to garnish. The bartenders were really nice and hustled to get everyone's drinks out quickly. This little bar has a lot of potential. It was busy when we left around 6pm on a Friday evening. Really fun place with an exceptional selection of spirits at the bar. I went on a busy Saturday, so service was a bit slow due to the number of people. The drinks are expertly crafted, and they had a great selection of liquor, including one of my favorite bourbons. If you're not in a hurry, I recommend making a stop at this place for one of their delicious cocktails or to try one of their rare spirits. It's a little loud inside and seating can e hard to find inside, but there is both indoor and outdoor seating. read more

June 16, 2022 Came in to get "to go" cocktails so we could go listen to live music at Maceo's across the street This is the third time I've gotten their to go drinks, bloody Mary was good, daiquiri was too strong and tonight's pick was the zombie (all to go drinks are $12 plus mandatory $3 snack mix) The zombie was just too strong without ice. Dropped in for the 7th Anniversary Party tonight. Specials were pre-made, but some off-special menu items were available as well. I love that they celebrate Galveston and their time on the island. We went for NYE 2025 and had an amazing time. The music inside (mellow and hip) and outside (DJ with a variety of dance music) were so different which made it fun. Heated tent made being outside enjoyable. Bartenders were amazing and the drinks were delicious and reasonably priced for the fanciness!! I feel in love with the Bees Knees!! They handed out NYE hats/blowers and champagne for the toast. The holiday decorations were detailed and gorgeous. Only downside was the DJ finally got the crowd dancing for the countdown and that was his LAST song... just as everyone was shaking their groove things!! Owner needs to pay for at least an extra hour next year because the place immediately cleared out without dance music. read more

OMG. Stopped in to use the bathroom before our Red Light District tour. I wanted a to go drink and people in our group said the bartender was a jerk. I had to ask if he had "to go" drinks and again, no help but pointed to the menu. Such a shame. He is an incredible bartender. Makes an awesome Old Fashion to go. Stopped back afterwards because it was so good. Lady in front asked "what's a bees knee?" His response....a drink. Hands down the best cocktail bar in Galveston ("the island"). They have all the usual suspects of cocktails including a great rum and tiki drink list. DTO is truly a diamond in the rough and worth the 4 hour drive. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating but don't in 5 deep and annoy the locals if you're visiting. It's the island so everyone is laid back and chill. Every now and then they do pop up cocktails with special (limited time) menus for that evening so be sure to check out their instragram to see what's going on that day/week. I've always loved coming here for the chill vibes, talented & friendly bartenders and of course great tasting cocktails but today's visit left a bad taste in my mouth. We rode the island today 4/9 specifically just to go to DTO. Got here around 5:30, came in and ordered our drinks from the less than enthused bartenders behind the counter. After we sat down, a group walked in and they were immediately greeted by the now super friendly bartenders. They made a total 180! The group were explained about the new seasonal drink menu for Spring, and was just provided the friendliest service- but we were not- what are we chopped liver lol? Our original plan was to stay awhile but after that encounter, I didn't want to stay any longer. My bohemian surfer drink was delicious though so five stars to that. read more

My go-to drink's usually a Moscow mule and they had so many options entailing ginger beer that I struggled to decide! We sat at the bar and the service was excellent. The drink was also great and strong, not at all watered down. It's a pretty chill little spot with a wide range of adult cocktails, liquors, etc. They will sell you 2go drinks, and the party mix while a weird flex by the state is spicy af, and addicting. We have been here three times and all have been very fun. The strawberry Daiquiri's are great. This time I also had a Zombie Killer which was superb. If you go during the week, service is very quick and the bar tenders will come over and talk with you about the days events. Fridays and Saturdays, it will be pretty packed but the service is still great. The vibe is chill and music is low enough you can still talk. I'm kicking myself for the amount of times I just passed by this place. It always looked very adorable and inviting from the outside, but I just never went in. The days of passing them by are gone now! Out front, inside, and the lovely patio out back all have a most excellent atmosphere. This is easily one of the best cocktail lists/bars I've ever been to. These are not bartenders; they are artists, and they have mastered their craft. They earn 5 stars across the board, but what really did it for me was the absinthe. Quite a few drinks had absinthe in them and that is a rare gem of a find. We first had their christmas martini which was AMAZING, then I asked the bartender if they could make a Death in the Afternoon for me. So an update, I've been back several times. They have great drinks to try and seasonal drinks change. If you don't know what you want, just ask the bartender and they will ask what you like.
