Fresh Food, Fantastic Drinks, and Family-Friendly! Pleasantly surprised! Very happy we came to La Cantina and we'll definitely be back! The good stuff first: The margaritas were awesome! We usually order them half frozen, half on the rocks so they're more slushy than icy--and they came out just right. I had the mango, my daughter had the strawberry, and my husband had the regular. All three were delicious! The beef fajitas were so good--tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The homemade tortillas were fresh and tasted amazing. We also had the street tacos, and the corn tortillas they came with were super fresh. I'll definitely be ordering those again. They also have a cute little covered playground, which is such a great touch if you're dining with kids. A couple of downsides: It took about 15 minutes for a waiter to come to our table, so we ended up placing our drink and food orders together when they finally came. Also, my husband ordered the large quesadillas, and unfortunately they came with thin store-bought tortillas instead of the homemade ones--which was disappointing after tasting how good the fresh tortillas were. Me and my family came out for Taco Tuesday and based on the reviews we were not expecting a lot. Well, the reviews did not do this place justice. The music was not loud, there were no annoying comerciales, the waitstaff was attentive and brought our order out timely and we all received exactly what we ordered. The Guacamole was Amazing! The Wave Margaritas were tasty, the street tacos were delicious and their flour tortillas were very fresh tasting. So for those that had a bad experience, you should try it again. read more

I've been coming here since it was La Finca, but haven't been since it was changed. I came on Sunday and had a really pleasant experience! The service was phenomenal! My server was great, she was so sweet and checked on us frequently. Also multiple people came to our table checking in on us; which was really appreciated. I had the cheese enchiladas which were fine and my mom had the buffet which she enjoyed for the price. Will definitely come back! read more

Had food delivered via Door Dash and feel that if the restaurant had properly packaged my order, I wouldn't be writing this post. Food was delivered all sloshed around. Came here for a quick dinner to celebrate getting married!!! So glad we did!! Our waitress was kind and fast. The chips and salsa were so tasty! The queso with freshly cooked hot chips were amazing!! DONT NOT EAT HERE !!!! My family and I stopped here to try it cause our grandmother loved it back in 2013 and we'd come here .. however todays visit awful and management is AWFUL. Needed a drink refilled so I began to eat my food and choked on an ENCHILADA YES how does that even happen???? This place doesn't ever seem to be busy so we were a little nervous to try it. When we sat down on a Saturday at 5:30 pm we were the only customers. Service was excellent. Drinks were constantly refreshed, they checked back without being intrusive. Music was a tad loud but that's common these days. Overall the food was good, chicken was better than the beef. I had the pollo parillo, which came with chicken, peppers, Swiss cheese and mushrooms. This dish was excellent, huge portions and came with 4 flour tortillas that were nice and thin. Husband had the el trio enchiladas plate. The beef enchiladas were pretty bland, but the chicken one was tasty. The queso was just okay, but if you mix it with the salsa they bring to the table - pow it was awesome! The salsa is served warm so it won't make the queso seize up. We are new to the area and this is the fourth Mexican restaurant we've tried, and I would say my favorite out of the local places at this point. read more

Above average Tex Mex at a great cost. What else can I say? Their salas are bomb! Double up on the tasty green salsa. They also provide a hotter sauce at a cost called the Inferno sauce. You can literally put that on any menu item. We come here for the fajitas mainly. A mix of the beef and chicken along with a side order of shrimp is more than enough. Consistency never lacks flavor and the hot skillet puts a great sear on the onions and peppers. They keep the tortillas coming as you need. I would recommend dining in as the restaurant tons of seating including outdoors. Definitely worth a try if you live in vicinity. read more

We drove from Houston to see an Elvis impersonator performing here. Interesting twist to Mexican food on a Saturday night. Not that I'm a huge fan, but something different to do. I didn't realize the restaurant was right by Cinco Ranch, so the drive from Houston wasn't so far if you take the West Park Tollway. About 20 minutes or so. The place was packed and I don't think it was just to see "Elvis". I would assume this is your local popular Tex-Mex joint. Tons of families and couples. Lots of kids. They have a large, full bar. I ordered 2 margaritas. They were quite good. My friend ordered the stuffed poblano pictured below. It was yummy. Another friend ordered the Galveston Snapper and oh my wow!!!! I'd recommend that.The prices were very reasonable and the menu is huge! It was a little taken back about the smoking at the open bar, but I forgot that this city girl wasn't in Houston anymore. I mean there are kids running around everywhere! Yikes! But hey, I'm not the parent police. There are separate rooms so I suggest if you bring your kids sit in those away from the smokers. We hadn't been here in a while, but came back at the beginning of January to find that: 1) Some redecoration has been done 2) There were new people on the wait staff 3) Some of the dishes had been changed/ upgraded. 3) The queso was different- much better! 4) The menu has changed. Tried this place with a friend for takeout dinner one evening. I must say I haven't eaten at this Mexican restaurant in many, many years because there are so many newer places that have opened up in Katy/Fulshear area. I hate to complain, but the food was just okay. I ordered chicken enchiladas which green chili cream sauce. I first tried this establishment maybe 14 years ago when the original was on Mason Rd., back then the food was always hot, fresh and delicious. It now seems like an afterthought and my meal seemed reheated and gloppy. I wish I had took a picture because it really didn't look appetizing and the way it was package and lumped together in the container looked gross. The chicken tasted more like left over protein; not moist and fresh like other Mexican restaurants we frequent. Anyway, not sure what happened and if management has changed but hopefully things will improve as we come out of the pandemic. I know many restaurants may have to sacrifice ingredient just to stay open but quality is still a key factor in the restaurant business. Maybe it was an off night for them so try if you are a fan here but doubt I will order from this place again. read more

La Finca restaurants have been our go to restaurants for Mexican food for the past 20 years and as we moved further from Katy this particular La Finca has been our most visited. Unfortunately we have seen a steady decline in quality at this location over the past 6-8 months. It used to be our regular Friday restaurant but has dropped back to once every couple weeks as we found the food to be inconsistent and trending down in quality. This last visit was the last straw as everything on our plates was bland and cold. As a family we have many La Finca memories so I hope this site will make needed improvements. read more

DO NOT COME HERE!! I ordered breakfast tacos on Sunday. The manager Hugo took my order. Repeated it three times and told me they'd be ready in 10 minutes. I went to pick them up got home. The order was completely wrong and It was missing tacos so I went back up there to go get the rest of the tacos and the correct tacos. Hugo. BLUF: Cheap Tex-Mex food that will fill up your hungry belly! I've come here frequently since growing up from high school until now. I've always loved their lunch specials, which are tough to beat! First Impressions: There's lots of spacious seating, but the windows or ventilation could be improved as all the smoke from the fajitas seems to linger. The customer service is accommodating with friendly waiters, but sometimes felt like we were interrupted every 5 minutes to ask if everything was alright. Victuals: The food here is always tasty! We found you can't go wrong with the fajitas for two with combo beef and chicken. You also get a plate with rice, beans, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guacamole to make your own fajitas as you please. Disappointed. Went for the fajitas which are normally the best thing on the menu. However, this time the chicken was completely dry and the beef was shredded beef. Shredded beef?? For dinner, we ordered a taco, enchiladas, and the tortilla soup and taco combo. I had never ordered the soup before, and it had a lot of squash and celery in it. I thought perhaps they had given me the chicken soup, so I double checked with the waiter. He was very rude and gave me attitude like I was bothering him with my question. The taco was just chicken and a tortilla-plain. Not much flavor. The guacamole we ordered on the side was not seasoned well. I love La Finca, its quick and easy Tex-Mex. The food is very solid and consistent. This location was slow for a while, but they seem to have picked up business.... thought its not nearly as busy as the Katy location on Westheimer Pkwy (which is great if you aren't into loud restaurants). I have a special place in my heart for queso puffs (or puffy cheese as we call it). Its essentially a tortilla chip puffed up about the size of a grapefruit then covered in queso. For me, there is no better. (I steams from my days eating at Marco's on Mason Rd with my friend Bradford). I have yet to be disappointed with anything I've ordered. Portions are large, I can't ever clean my plate. And prices are just right! They lost 1 star because the wait staff has been lackluster... either not friendly or just plain absent a few times. I find that the slower a restaurant is, the worse the wait staff is. Odd. read more

Not sure what all these one stars are about but we had a good experience. They had live music (an Elvis impersonator) so we opted for outside seating. We requested to have the channel changed to the Rockets game and had no issues with that, the food was very affordable and delicious. They had free salsa, green sauce and chips upon being seated. The salsa was spicy and cold which was perfect for us, considering most other places nearby serve warm salsa. My husband and I had two taco entres, two margaritas, and a kids meal, all for $41! This place deserves 5 stars for the overall experience here! I mean, it's not the best Mexican Food in the city (I mean, we live in Houston, that's a tall order!!)... The food was probably 4 stars on its own. But to find a place like this so close to our home, way out at the edge of Cinco Ranch? We were really thrilled! We came in with a party of 9 (including 5 kids ages 3-9 yo), on a Saturday night at 6:45pm, and we only waited a few minutes to be sat on the patio (it was an unusually nice night to sit outside in September!). The dining and bar area inside is REALLY nice and I'd come back for a date or girls' night sometime. But the service was attentive, the prices were reasonable, and our food was delicious! The only critic was the 9 yo who didn't like her kid's grilled cheese! So stick with the Mexican Food, it was great. Margaritas were ok, nothing special, but good value. We will be regular customers, and I know this place will get busier as the neighborhoods continue to grow and fill this next year! We may have to make reservations some day, but for now it's a great alternative to driving farther away for good Mexican Food. read more

Have enjoyed eating here recently vs. their other location on Westheimer Parkway, so booked their banquet room last week for my wife's birthday party. Very, very happy with all aspects of our party...Luis let us decorate early, put my usb drive in the tv and showed pictures all night, the room was very clean, chips and salsa were warm and crisp, guests were promptly guided to the room and served drinks (and Grebil kept all the adult beverages sorted out and our guests happily sipping away). Fajita/taco bar set up in the room and the food was tasty - moist and well seasoned...with plenty of condiments. The service and attention to all our guests was prompt and courteous...by all of the staff who got involved. More than one guest commented that we picked a great place. Margaritas of various flavors were a real hit and beer selection kept all the guys happy also. I was a bit hesitant initially when booking our party, but will not hesitate to return and would recommend giving them a try if you haven't been there since the new management/Luis took over. read more
