2.5 stars for Alicia's on this visit. I rarely go here, Alicia's more for special occasions. I choose to go to Alicia's for my birthday- second year in a row. Always had their beef fajitas. No need to the menu, it's been a slam dunk to order their elite fajitas. Ambience and comfort has been top notch. This year their beef fajitas were different. They seemed like a different cut of beef. They tasted alright, but texture was different. They weren't the "melt in your mouth" variety I remember. It wasn't the elite fajita place it was a year ago. Beyond the fajitas, the sides were excellent. The guacamole was perfect; pure avocado mashed to perfection with nothing else added. to it. Finally, they didn't have the green tomatillo salsa I was craving. I requested it, and it never came. No explanation. And they weren't busy at all being a Tuesday. Last month on 11/7, we dined here for a friend's baby shower function in their back party room. The food was catered for our group with variety of Texmex food; chicken & beef fajitas, enchiladas, rice & bean, queso, chips & salas, etc. It's been many years since I've eaten here but the food was good as I remembered. We went a few years ago and decided to try it again the other day. Unimpressive to say the least. I got a combo plate of pork, tamale, cheese, enchilada, and crispy beef taco. The tamale was all masa. They're super stingy with the meat. Cheese enchilada was OK but their gravy could use a little work. The beef and the big taco tasted stale. The rice and beans were nothing to ride home about either. I will say that my wife's ribeye tacos were absolutely amazing, but that's not going to overcome the rest of the experience. The wait was long and I don't know why because the place was pretty empty. Ordered 2 orders of fajitas and they were so sour . They tasted like lemon slices. Worst fajitas I have ever had. I had the worst beef fajita salad I have ever had at any Mexican restaurant last night at Alicia's in Katy. The beef was dry and had no flavor. The salad was totally unappealing and I could not eat very much of it. I stopped at Taco Bell on the way home to get something to eat. A fantastic experience, until they turned the bright lights on at 9:30 pm when they close at 10:00 pm. Total disrespect for me as a customer. Bright lights for last call? Seriously?!? Fast friendly service. The chips were light, crispy, hot, and fresh. The salsa is delicious with a flavorful heat. I enjoyed the enchiladas carnitas, packed with meat and covered with a tasty tomatillo sauce. The rice was light, fluffy, and seasoned well (subtle balance). This is the best salad and so refreshing for hot Texas weather! It has mixed greens, slivers of jicama, slivers of mango, slivers of strawberries, mandarin orange sections and a tasty raspberry vinaigrette, with juicy tender chicken fajita. This is a beautiful restaurant and so easy to get to from I-10 in the new section of Main Street Katy. All the waters and waitresses are so friendly and attentive in taking care of their customers. Food arrives in a very timely fashion. We stop here every time we are going to Houston. Happy eating everyone! read more

We had a very small group dinner here and I was surprised at how many issues there were for a nearly empty restaurant. The summary here is OVERPRICED, UNDERWHELMING food with poor service. Once our food was delivered we didn't really see our waiter. Empty water glasses abounded. -1 star I flagged down a manager (he didn't introduce himself so I'm just assuming the title) because one of our parties food was COMPLETELY cold. No offer to remake it, just microwaved the plate. It took a ridiculous amount of time for her food to come back out. -1 star I had a citrus salad with fajita beef. The beef was so covered in lime juice that I had to wipe it off!! There was no jicama, 1 orange segment cut into tiny slivers, and 1 strawberry - for $19!!! I will only take 1 star for this but what a ripoff!! read more

Alicia's has become my family's go to restaurants for Tex Mex. Why? First and foremost the food is great, served hot and in generous portions. I almost always get a Cowboy Steak and my wife gets the Relleno De Res, but we both agreed to swap next time. I also always drink one of their Painkiller cocktails. I never had a Painkiller before and can't say if it is made right but the one at Alicia's is better than a Marg. The restaurant never seems busy which is a surprise and a pleasure. Surprise only because so many people in Katy dine out that it's surprising that there isn't a wait here. A pleasure because I hate waiting. Inside you see a classy looking restaurant with a full service bar (which often is busy) with walls decorated with classical portraits of what I guess are family members? Altogether I recommend this restaurant to anyone and hope we all don't show up at once. read more

My wife and I went to the Alicia's Mexica Grille in Katy for dinner on a Monday evening. We both had dinner and our bill was $47.47. We presented a $25.00 gift card to the waiter, and he returned and said the gift card only had a $0.01 on it. I gave the waiter another $25.00 gift card, and he returned again and said that card only had $0.01 on the card. So, I then gave the waiter a bank credit card which cover the $47.47 and I added a tip. A couple of days later I checked the two gift card balances, and both had a $0.00 balance. Further, both showed a purchased of $25.00 from Alicia's Mexican Grille on the same day we had dinner there. I went to Alicia's a week later and talked with a "Manager" to explain the situation, and he gave me a run around that they only ran both gift cards for $0.01 to hold the balance and when then I gave the waiter the credit card which he processed the $47.47 bill plus the tip. The Manager added that they never processed the two $25.00 gifts. So, my conclusion is that, either Alica's received $97.47 for a $47.47 bill, or the waiter pocketed the $25.00 on the two gift cards. Either way we will never go to Alica's again and I would caution anyone that goes there to only pay with cash and never ever used a gift card. read more

I'm usually a good tipper for that reason but not this time. The waiter barely came to our table and to make matters worse there was some confusion with our tickets forcing some of us to pay for meals twice. Some of us ordered to go meals that were brought to the table cold. Nothing was done to make up for the inconvenience. Some of the staff were just looking at us the whole time we were there. I've never liked Tex-mex food, but my friends suggested this place. I thought it would be worth the try. I thought wrong. None of the entrees caught my attention, but I decided to get the churros since it's one my my favorite desserts. Before ordering, I asked the waiter if the churros had filling and he said yes. That was the deciding factor of me ordering it. Long story short, he lied. Their churros aren't filled with anything. The presentation of the plate was nice; I will give them that. Wow. I haven't felt this satisfied with Mexican food in a minute. Everything I tried here was magnificent - the salsa, the queso, my meal. I got two flautas and a cheese enchilada, they came with rice and beans. It was all so filling and delicious and a great portion size. The chicken flautas were well stuffed and topped with green salsa, lettuce, and minced tomato, and wow, they were amazingly delicious. I wasn't expecting salsa, usually it's some kind of Mexican cream, but it was better than expected and I didn't miss the cream after all. The flavor of the rice, beans and enchilada were great as well, all were well seasoned and not bland at all. Service was very friendly and attentive throughout our meal, and she answered my questions about flavor on a few items when I was still deciding on what to get. Service is great here. Everyone is pretty welcoming. Not a fan of the food. The first visit here, I ordered fajitas poblano. There were like 3 small pieces of poblano on my overcooked fajita plate. There wasn't much pepper or onion. Everything was just over cooked and not good. Came back a second time to give a second chance. The queso fundido was swimming in grease. The Puerto Vallarta plate was ok. The sides were bland. They skimped on the meat for my plate. The prices are to high for what you get here. This is the second location of Alicia's we've enjoyed. My wife had and shared (it's almost mandatory) some of the best chicken fajitas we've ever had, she got borracho beans with it, guacamole, rice, pico de gallo, I enjoyed three ground beef enchiladas with refried beans and rice. The chips and salsa were tasty and the service provided by Jaider was spot on. They have a few hambones working here, I like to take pictures and a few future stars had to jump into the shot, I like that. read more

This is a solid 4.5. Great food, decent and friendly service, nice variety and very flavorful. I recommend it for both traditional and Tex-Mex. I had the build-your-own with a taco, enchilada and flauta. It was about as good as he can find. The ingredients were fresh, the flavor is a robust, and the portion sizes are absolutely decent. The margaritas are very strong and taste really good, too! The Cowboy Steak was phenomenal according to my friend who regularly orders it, and extremely tender. The steak quesadilla is excellent too! Came for the happy hour drinks, and they were really good for a great price. I had the chicken fajitas quesadillas, and they were about you expect. My wife had the Carnitas entree and it was amazing! The only drawback to the whole experience was the complimentary red and green salsa. read more

I don't mean to be rude.. I know times are tough right now with restaurants but our takeout order was just terrible. The only dressing options with a taco salad are apple cider vinaigrette and ranch.. and one of our orders was completely wrong. I will say, the service is great because we called them to rectify and they replaced our meal no questions asked. Stinks to have to drive back through traffic to pick up a meal you should've gotten right away though. The quality of the food to me tasted very low. My guacamole was brown around the edges. The ground beef was pink and had pieces of bay leaves in it. The lettuce seemed wilted. I just imagine our food was not up to any standard the owners would be proud of. We went on a Friday night about 7, let me tell you the place was packed.... the hostess and manager seemed overwhelmed and it was a bit disorganized. Two parties that came in after us were seated first... I know what your thinking ... reservations... nope I overheard both conversations. After the second I spoke up and amazingly we were seated next. Once seated it was a few minutes before seeing our server, she was extremely busy but when at our table focused on us. She took our drink and appetizer order, chips and salsa were brought shortly after, the chips were thin and crispy the salsa was tasty but a bit salty. I'm a fan of a good margarita on the rocks but sadly they are not here.... my girlfriend tried the sangria margarita she said it was ok, neither of us wanted another. The food was tasty and priced well. I ate the senor burrito and she had the build your own dinner. So here it is: Make a reservation or stand at the hostess station to defend your place in line. Dont waste your money on a regular 10 dollar rita. Our server was great! Enjoy the food (good value)(check in on YELP for a free small queso dip) Be sure to get an ice cream cone on the way out. Went for the first time today in Katy! Kind of disappointed, I should have spoken in Spanish the whole time. After telling the bar tender in English what I wanted, I realized his English was poor, so I ended up paying too much for my drink and food! Anyways I left because TVs are not at bar so my plans to watch the Astros game was shot down! I thought the prices were a little high compared to other bar restaurants in the area . I drove out to Katy for dinner and decided to give Alicia's a try. I'd like to say everything was amazing, but personal preferences made a couple of things knock off a star. The staff was great and attentive. The entrees were decent. But the queso was bland and even dumping in a bunch of salsa didn't save it. The carnitas enchiladas were really good. However the cheese enchiladas strangely had ground beef across the top and a spoonful of raw onions. Pretty much messed up the meal. read more

Funny enough we found this by accident, and glad we did ! Super friendly, super spacious, and an impeccably clean and comfortable restaurant. I had the Enchiladas Tejana, and thought it was a cool twist that it didn't have the standard Mexican rice and beans, but came instead with a really delicious sweet corn side and rice but it wasn't the standard rice you normally get. We hosted a Rehearsal Dinner at Alecia's in Katy on Oct 22, 2022. It was a fantastic experience! Right from our first contact with management, we felt comfortable that we had picked the right venue for this important event. On the evening of the event, Alicia's staff were ready for us upon arrival and helped with anything that we needed during setup. Once our guests arrived, Alicia's sprung into action, and within a few minutes, everyone had a margarita in hand, and the party started. The wait staff was on point, and the food was excellent, as several guests confirmed to me. The evening turned out to be so much fun. Everyone had a great time.
