Steak, Chicken or Mixed Fajitas - For 1

Service is super fast. The food is amazing, just delicious! My kids enjoyed everything, which for them is unheard of. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They even had the Packer game we missed the night before on, so things couldn't have been better![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Food is consistently good and large portions for the price. We've ordered take out a few times because it's so close to home and orders are always correct. My son loves getting enchiladas, I get steak fajitas, my husband and youngest boy get the burrito California (which is huge!!!) and my daughter gets the vegetarian platter with quesadilla and chalupa. We've also gone in and had margs with our dinner before and they were pretty good. The only downfall is timing can be off-- I showed up 10 minutes early on a whim and food was already sitting out packaged up by the front door.

Wow, I was so impressed with this place! I've been in twice now and they just recently opened. First off, the whole place looks amazing. This is one of those buildings that places seem to come and go, failing for whatever reason. It wasn't in the best shape. La Cantina complete repainted inside and out, nice new furniture, great attention to detail everywhere you look. The atmosphere is great. Both times I have visited I have had the Enchiladas Lemon Lime. I'm NOT a fan of regular enchilada sauce, but they came with a creamy lemon/lime sauce atop two enchiladas filled with the most flavorful and delicious chicken, seasoned perfectly. The margarita here are also excellent. I've had the Texas Margarita. It does not disappoint. The first visit, the staff was definitely a bit flustered. They were extremely busy and just recently opened. The second time, they seemed to smooth out some of their hiccups and had the swing of things. Quality of food remained the same times - fantastic. Definitely recommend!

We have stopped here a few times now and it just keeps getting better and better! Our daughter says they make the best cheese quesadilla and Mexican rice around! I am obsessed with their taquitos Mexicanos, and my husband adores their tacos! Their price point can't be beat and the service has been spectacular!

One of the best burritos I've ever had! It was filled with delicious carne asada meat, topped with red sauce and queso, and the salsa was phenomenal! My wife custom ordered a chicken dish and they had no problems making it. Very much appreciated the friendly service, fantastic food, and great experience.

Gross, tasted like a microwaved frozen pre made meal. The margaritas were also incredibly weak. Will not be returning or recommending.

The salsa and chips were delivered before we could get settled. We both ordered Fajitas, one chicken and one steak. The caramelized onions were delicious with the steak. For dessert I ordered the Flan. WOW! Amazing! I make my own Flan, which, I've been told is pretty darn good. Palenque's was better. So creamy and perfect caramel sauce. Worth coming just for that. If you're in the McFarland area, this restaurant won't disappoint.

Not to mention great drinks. The menu is pretty large, and this is some delicious Tex-Mex/Mexican food. I ordered the fajitas and had extra to take home for the next day as leftovers. The margaritas are pretty big and the price is quite reasonable. They also have non-alcoholic Corona and non-alcoholic margaritas, so there are options for everyone. We had a group of 8 meet here recently for book club and we all had a range of great drinks - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The chips and salsa are on point. I would come here way more often if they had an a la carte street tacos option with the cilantro and onion. There's an asada tacos meal (with the rice/beans and all that) which I am hoping to try sometime soon. A great little local spot that I definitely recommend!

What I will begin to say about El Primo is they are a hard working family owned hole in the wall…read morethat Sun Prairie should be grateful they operate there. I see plenty of cops, firemen, and paramedics going here for their lunches. Quesadillas - I have no idea what cheese they put in them, but you get that, guac, and amazing meat. I always go asada but the quesadilla size is absolutely fair for the price and pairs amazing with both their salsa verde and Rojo. The cooks are always working hard and for the bulk they get, the portions are always over stuffed. Now let's talk about those burritos, ... if you have never had Al Pastor, get Al Pastor. It seasons the already seasoned rice and soaks into the burrito perfectly with out the damn sogginess. They wrap it better than chipotle and that damn thing is so stuffed you honestly say "I only paid this much?!" Pair it with the Salsa rojo with each bite and you'll be hooked. They do come with sour cream, "crema", I always say no crema. It ruins the flavor profile of the Al Pastor. Alright, now the thing you were wanting to know, tacos. Authentic. Cantina. Flat top grilled meat and tortillas (yes they heat them on the flat top as the meat and oil. Tortillas are typical maize but I am a harina Chico myself (that's flour boy for you plebeians, just kidding but it's good to note that if you prefer it tell them "Puedo tener tortillas de harina" because I believe you should make the effort to learn someone's language if you're going to partake in their culture and food. These are hard working and sincere people! You may ask now, "okay dude but what meat should I get?" Honestly, you'll never go wrong with Asada but the Lomo de res (rib eye) is soooo rich and so good! Always tell them to put everything on the taco "con todo" (cilantro and onion) grab a lot of salsa and enjoy. We usually get a side of Pico de Gallo which they can do, as well as some Jarritos. The Pico is for the tacos. Look I can go on and on and on about this place but honestly until you go, you will either say "this guy is smoking crack" or "damn he is 100% right" as a former Los Angelino, again, Sun Prairie should be thanking El Primo from breaking up the monotony of "bar and grill" that Wisconsin as a whole has too much of.
