Made a reservation well in advance. Arrived for our dinner and were immediately seated. The restaurant is good looking and very welcoming. We looked at the menu and decided on a couple of things...the Burrata with Truffles, Eggplant Parmigiana, Cacio e Pepe, and a side of Tuscan White Beans. We ordered food and drinks. Drinks arrived within 2 minutes and lo and behold our Burrata Salad arrived Two minutes later...and yes I timed it. I asked that our food be slowed down and also asked that it not be cooked and served cold. We finished our Burrata with a Truffles which I might add was delicious. And within a reasonable few minutes our food arrived. The Cacio e Pepe was delightful but could have had a bit more Pepe. The Tuscan White Beans were perfect with a hint of spice which made them special. I wish I could say the Eggplant Parmigiana was equally as good as the rest of the meal. It was not. It was way over cooked - almost burned. Guess it just stayed in the oven while we slowed down our meal. We managed to delay our meal enough that we were actually in the restaurant a bit over an hour. Old, dark Italian. My kind of place. Wood, grain paneling lines the walls, white tablecloth, a true multicourse kind of place. Such an elegant ambience! The service was very fast! Too fast for Tuscany. It's like they were trying to move us in and out and not let us sit and enjoy the meal. Don't get me wrong, Back Home in the states, on my lunch break, I love fast service. I would love to eat somewhere like this for lunch and be in and out in one hour. However, when I'm on vacation and a place known for deliberately patient meals which slow time down this is not what I'm looking for, nor what was advertised. This place was extremely rushed. They tried to move you in move you out and flip your table as many times as possible. That being said, you cannot complain about the attention that each table receives they were on it! Dirty plates cleared right away bread refilled right away, everything was fast. Now to the food, I had the Caprese salad to start, the tomato was bland, thankfully, their balsamic vinegar was delicious, and allowed me to spruce up the dish the way I like it. Since the tomato didn't do the talking, the balsamic vinegar did. Then came the pasta stuffed with pecorino cheese, and served in a cream sauce. This was the highlight of the meal my wife, had the white truffle pasta and a cream sauce. Normally,she doesn't like a cream sauce, but this was the exception a week later and she still can't stop talking about how good the pasta and the sauce was. Onto the main course, my wife had the Seabass, which was cooked perfectly, drizzled, and vegetables. Amazing! The most underwhelming part of my meal, were my lamb chops. I think they gave me the thinnest lamb chops, like they were leftovers ! not only that, but they cooked it way too fast, kind of a metaphor to their service, which was fast. This was evident and the texture. And the sinews and small fats did not break down with the meat a true sign of cooking the lamb too fastly and too thoroughly. We had dessert, tiramisu, which was average for the city of Florence. When a nice place is recommended by the concierge, you don't expect to be served disappointment with a hefty bill. Had the lasagna here in 2000! It was so memorable. Nothing can even compare to it still to this day! The noodles were very light; almost crepe-like! However, not sure if this is still on their menu, as google claims it's not! You will never find a lasagna like this ever again anywhere, so if they still offer it, try it & I guarantee you won't be disappointed! Beautiful restaurant and wonderful ambiance, too! My seven year old daughter had tagliatelle al ragú pretty much everywhere we went and loved this one the best... so much so that she ordered a second one! Service was very attentive. I liked that they had good vegetable dishes too. Atmosphere was more refined and classy (piano music) but my two young kids did okay. We went here on a whim and felt uncomfortable the minute we sat down. We were there when they first opened so it was just us and another table. The food was ok in flavor but over priced for what they serve. They charge a $4 coperto fee per person. A primo pasta dish is around 16-22 euro each. The bread was stale and not tasty. Our hotel gave us this recommendation and it was delicious. Only a block from our hotel, the walk was easy. We were seated immediately upon arriving at our reservation time. The restaurant's tables are close to each other so expect some noise and lots of energy. We split everything and started with spaghetti carbonara. So good. Nice creamy sauce and bacon flavor. Next we had sea bass. It came out wrapped in the tin foil it was cooked in. Almost looked like a silver swan. The server removes the foil and puts on a plate at your table. We had mashed potatoes with the sea bass. Everything was excellent. Loved the fresh tomatoes served with the sea bass. Very nice flavor. We wrapped up the meal with crème brûlée for dessert. Wonderful crust on top of tasty custard. Service was excellent. There were four people serving all the tables and they worked well together. Love how hot our food was when they brought it out to us. We had only been in Firenze for a day and didn't realize you must make reservations! While we hadn't done that's we did arrive right when they opened and we met the owner who was super nice and welcomed us in and seated us at the best table! I am craving the eggplant parmigiana!! We ordered a couple of those plus the frito misto which was out of this world !! Listen the pasta in Italy is very different, every good restaurant will make their own and you have do yourself a favor and order it as often as possible. It was rainy when I got to this restaurant. I was in the mood for pasta so I ordered some sparking water, and 2 primi pasta dishes because they both sounded amazing. The service was attentive and fast. The dishes were well presented, but the flavors were OK. I had better pasta and less expensive in Florence. It was recommended we call for a reservation by the person who told us about this place, so we did call about 30 minutes before to see if they had availability for the same evening. Luckily, they did! We were immediately seated at a cozy table for 2. I ordered the most delicious penne pasta Iv'e ever had and my husband had the Taglierini with black truffle! Just the freshest, tastiest meal and we wanted to go back but unfortunately never made it. The only one thing I didn't care for was the woman (who I think was the owner) kinda rushed us out after our meal, because she wanted the table to be free for other people wanting to dine. While I understand somewhat, I wish we weren't so rushed out, especially because we were enjoying our conversation with a couple we had met that sat next to us. The manager, Ilam, was fantastic and went out of her way to make us feel at home. We made a reservation a day ahead and definitely recommend making one in advance. Unfortunately this place was a major let down. We got the florentine steak with potatoes and both were VERY underwhelming and had no flavor. For the most expensive thing on the menu, I would've at least expected some flavor. Not to mention, we ordered medium rare (130 internal temp) and the right side of the T Bone was borderline blue rare, while the left side was almost well done. I do have to caveat that I am a steak connoisseur, but even my wife said unprompted "this was the least flavorful meal we have gotten in Italy". Service was incredible though. read more
