That made the whole ordering process feel drawn out and frustrating. We were told that the green corn tamale, which is apparently usually meat-free, was made with pork lard. She mentioned it was in the green chili, though it sounded like she may have meant the masa itself was made with lard. Either way, it was disappointing and made the menu feel even more limited. What really stood out in a negative way was being told, "Usually when I have vegetarian customers, they just eat a salad." That did not make us feel welcomed at all. It made us feel like an inconvenience instead of paying customers trying to find something suitable to eat. We ended up sharing a quesadilla with a side of whole beans, and my wife ordered the veggie fajitas, which I had not even noticed on the menu since I only saw protein-based fajita options listed. The food was okay, but only because sautéed vegetables are hard to mess up, and that is essentially what my wife received. Overall, it was not a great experience. Going out to eat should not leave you feeling like a burden to the wait staff. I have worked in customer service for over 30 years, and making guests feel welcome is not that difficult.
