This is one of my regular spots. It's a great restaurant for groups or solo. They have a great selection of dishes. The staff is friendly and efficient. Today was packed so we were off to a slow start but once they took our order everything went smooth. My wife got the Camaro es en Crema(Shrimp in a cream sauce. It was amazing, with a decent portion of shrimp and vegetables in a delicate sour cream sauce that stood out. Comes with rice, tortillas and a salad. Mix the rice in for a mouthful of flavor in every bite. I got the Tilapia Veracruz. The red sauce e it came in scared me at first glance, I thought it would be spicy but it was not at all. It was a chipotle smoked flavor that gave the dish a level up. The tilapia itself was overcooked but a decent amount of pieces, it's topped off with a few shrimp and baby scallops, with zucchini and squash for added flavor. I got it with their house mashed potatoes instead of rice. It's definitely home made and lumpy, which I actually like and seasoned Latin style. Overall it was a great meal with great service. They have a small bar also in case you want to sit solo. Their cocktails are amazing especially their flavored margaritas, like the cucumber or Jalapeño, which I forgot to take a picture of.

Had some extra time before my hair appointment @ social lite studio and well it was cinco de mayo so why not swing in! Lunch for just me today and had a lovely time. Service was amazingly speedy as they were preparing the restaurant for the evening celebrations. The refried beans were perfection and I never pass on La Carreras politely spicy salsa. Great seating and comfortable low lighting made me want to take me out to lunch here more often.

The atmosphere was very nice on a Sunday evening. Our server was attentive without being overbearing. I had the tacos al pastor. They were THE BEST tacos al pastor I've had in North Carolina. The pork was cooked perfectly. The pineapple flavor came through perfectly. The tortilla didn't fall apart. I usually get steak fajitas, but this is better here. The salsa is the best in the Winston/Clemmons area. Outstanding!!

Well, when my first choice for lunch didn't work out, I decided to try this hit or miss place yet again - I know, cue the definition of insanity! This time it was a hit. The Carnitas were excellent - perfectly cooked, tender with the requisite streaks of fat, and a bit of outside crunch that always adds flavor. This is a dish they've shown several times that they can do well. I will from time to time, when it is convenient, come here. Not all is bad, not all is good - sounds like life in general!

Loved it! First, I'm from Los Angeles and Mexican food is kind of our thing. We went for lunch and I wish I took a menu picture but it's huge! Kid meals are $6.50 and portions are huge. Lunch specials are about $8.25 and also quite large. They bring out free chips and salsa and it's really good. I'm honestly hard to please when it comes to salsa and this met the mark. I ordered a burrito with black beans and veggies inside and it was fabulous. The refried beans do have lard and the rice might have powdered chicken stock and butter in it, said our server. FYI to vegetarians. I personally just stuck to black beans and veggies. They have a big vegetarian section as well. For sure would return. They even have a fun candy section at the entrance to pay for some candy on your way out. Fun variety.

The food sucks don't waste your time here.. it's annoying if there is people of Mexican descent you would believe the food is Mexican it's MEXICANT I'd rather fly to Mexico and eat real good food there ...the bar sucks no one is ever behind it! ... F this place is a hell no.! the bar tenders are none existent I'm not sure why anyone who doesn't hate themselves goes here and has a good time.if you hate yourself go here. And pay $$$$ for no service.

This restaurant is in a mixed zoning area featuring restaurants and other businesses nestled within an apt/townhouse community making the area relatively more quiet and relaxing. That said l enjoyed the outside seating in a peaceful setting socially distanced with friendly staff and great big portions of delicious food. I ordered steak Fajitas for $12.99. After a short wait while l munched on free chips and spicy salsa out came 3 plates of food! Wholly molley!! A plate w refried beans, rice and guacamole salad with sour cream another plate w warm corn tortillas and the main course of steak fajitas w many different veggies! Oh man! So good and leftovers to take home and enjoy. A good deal in my book. I was able to bring my dog as well and the staff brought her a dish of water. Perfect meal w my faithful companion. Stop in and enjoy!

La Carreta is great, Maria served us. She's always very friendly, we speak to her in broken Spanish, she's very encouraging though, bless our hearts. The chori-queso is one of the best I've had. It's queso dip with chorizo mixed in, it's not spicy but it has a ton of flavor. We always go for the fajita, their tacos are good too though. The service there is pretty consistent and quick, the crew are always great and I'm always offered more chips before I get to the end of the basket. Although they're a chain restaurant, they really have good food consistently. Make sure to come hungry because they have a ton of different things to try. Get there early, or get there around 8pm. It is a lot busier than it was when we first started going there and I can understand why. We normally get a margarita at the bar while we wait for a table, they're strong and really refreshing (if you were wondering) you can have a small, medium, or large, house or too shelf. If youre a beer drinker, ask for the large beer, even if only for the experience of it.

Restaurant was super clean and hand sanitizer was set up everywhere! We really enjoyed great service on the patio. Food was fresh, hot and flavorful - the plating was top notch!

I wasn't very hungry so I wanted something that wasn't a huge portion. I figured a shrimp dish would be a lighter option so I ordered the Camarones Coco. Honestly, I didn't pay much attention to what came with it. I was there for the shrimp! It came with a chipotle pineapple sauce that was absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with the coconut shrimp. My husband ordered the East Coast Burrito, and it was huge! It was packed with steak and came with a large side salad. He could only finish about half of the burrito. He enjoyed it though. I also ordered a Piña Colada. I don't often see restaurants that serve them so I had to try one. I could've done without the whipped cream but the drink itself was really good. I honestly couldn't taste the alcohol... but it definitely caught up with me. LOL The only downside for me is the size of the Tamarindo Agua Fresca. I wish they served it in a large cup like Los Juanes does. Overall, I think the food here is really good and I'm honestly surprised I don't hear more people talking about this place.

Pricing felt a little on the high side for a Mexican restaurant, but that just seems to be the case across the board. I'd definitely go back again, and would recommend to others. Not only did I have the pleasure of trying this absolutely amazing dish, I had the pleasure of having leftovers. Let me tell y'all. This? This is food. This is where culture means Cajun. This is where innovation meets culinary. A quick run down of what we're looking at here. First, I have the seafood boat. A LITERAL boat topped with a fish as the sail. Ugly fish staring at me, but absolutely delicious. Crispy. Yummy. The boat had the BEST ceviche I've ever had the pleasure of devouring. Fresh, seafoody, and scrumptious. Pair this with crab, extremely crispy fried shrimp, oysters, more shrimp, and so many things I could write a post about just this item and still feel like it's not enough. Second, I have the House Sauce Seafood Boil. Now, this is just the prototype. They're also wanting to add sausage to this, make different types, as well as do a headless shrimp version. This was... What can I say? Delicious? Juicy? Scrumptious? What I do know to say is this: I'd buy it again. It was massive, it was filling, it was messy. Last and not least, we have the Super Fajitas. 4 kinds of meat, vegetables, tortillas. This is a meat lover's dream with sour cream. Delectable. Sizzling. Fresh. Mmm. Leftovers. The fancy drink? Locarita. Pink Flamingo or something like that. That was allllll my wife's and she savored every sip. There was more than enough food here. We ended up with enough leftovers to last us a year, I swear. Try it out. Let me know. Let's geek out about fresh food from a fantastic staff with the best food, and honestly, the best family environment. Bonus picture of my wife kissing the ugly fish. My ceviche was dry and lacked the freshness and flavor I was expecting from a Mexican mariscos restaurant. I probably should have trusted my first impression when I arrived not a single mexican in there because the overall experience just didn't live up to expectations. The ordering system is flawed - there was just the 1 person taking orders and bringing the food and drink. This and a slow kitchen resulted is waits for everyone. It took well over 20 minutes to get my meal, but when it did arrive it was decently done, but like all versions I've tried, it was far from an authentic dish. The ranchero sauce was a deep red, a richer red color than I have seen before in this sauce. It was rather chunky and was really mild, I doubt there were any peppers ( most often jalapeños are used) in the sauce I was served. While the eggs were not overcooked ( both yolks were runny), the tortillas were separate and were not fried. And the refried beans were separate, as well! The only items that were combined were the eggs and the sauce. This was not a bad dish, but neither was it Huevos Rancheros. One of the key elements that makes the authentic version such a hardy classic is the combination of tastes and textures from the combination of ingredients. And one of those important items are the fried eggs with the yolks still runny - this adds a certain creaminess to the underlying sauce. I'll keep looking for an acceptable version of this dish.

We tried a variety of dishes including quesadillas, taquitos, tacos (steak, carnitas, and beef), a burrito we shared, and even a sizzling skillet that was SO good. You could tell the food wasn't just sitting--it was coming out fresh and made with care. The margaritas were definitely a highlight. They had a wide variety, and the drinks were flowing all night. I personally had a skinny margarita (recommended by our waitress), and it did not disappoint. One thing I really appreciated was them giving us a preview of their weekend brunch menu. They had pancakes, eggs, and even brunch-only refreshers for those who don't drink, which I thought was a nice touch and shows they're thinking about all types of guests. Dropping in recently, I didn't see many changes to the interior of the restaurant from its previous incarnation. The menu seemed a bit different, at least in design and layout, and I noticed at least a few options I didn't recall from the Mi Pueblo days. I picked once of those, pork in salsa verde. In the meantime I sipped on a simple margarita and ate a few chips. My time here was during dinner hours, and I was really surprised to see how few patrons were present. The waiter said that wasn't unusual for an evening early in the week, and that business was substantially heavier in the later half of the week. Throughout my time in the eatery, I'm certain there were more employees on site than there were diners. The kitchen was able to process my order very quickly, likely a result of the low patronage, and so I didn't get to eat many of those chips before my plate showed up. The chunks of pork were tender enough to pull apart with my fork, and the green sauce surrounding them had a pleasant flavor and the right amount of potency for me. I hardly had enough of the salsa to accompany the meat though; a less stingy portion would have been appreciated. Rice and beans were about what you'd find at any Mexican restaurant in our area. The guac salad seemed very light on guacamole though, and the lettuce shreds were pale white. The menu has mentioned there would be avocado slices on the plate too, but no avocado was provided aside from that found within the tiny blob of guacamole. I remember hearing that the transition to Ma'Luz was intended to represent an upscaling, a somewhat fancier option. My experience didn't really feel that way. The food wasn't bad, especially the meat and salsa verde, but this didn't come across as any more special or satisfying an experience as in visits past. And maybe that's why the traffic they're getting isn't all that hectic or busy.
