We were seated right away even though it was a Saturday at 7pm and the parking lot was full! Our server, Yuni, came over right away and she was awesome! Chips were delivered to our table and Yuni pointed out the Salsa bar. So many choices! We settled on hot, table salsa and I also got the avocado jalapeño. Normally this place is a 10 + today however Friday the 6 of feb at 115 pm it made us never to go back, again . They didnt fix our fajitas we asked for no grilled tomato came out full of them , the kids nachos with meat was horrible, then we asked for 2 tickets didnt get that way. I stopped in for lunch and their menu is huge with lots of options for everyone. For starters the salsa bar is a lot of fun! I wish the serving cups were bigger but they obviously don't want to encourage waste. I ordered a small guacamole and it was really good. I also had a shrimp quesadilla. There's no denying it, so just deal with that. When I came in, around 3 on a Saturday, it was empty. The staff was friendly. Not native speakers of English. I ordered some guacamole. It was very good. Much more authentic than most places, although not especially spicy. BUT the game changer is the in house salsa bar. There were so many fabulous options and sauces on there, as well as extra cilantro, diced onions and tomatoes. So smart! For my lunch, I ordered the fish tacos. They were basic, just really good grilled fish, seasoned, in flour tortillas, but again - SALSA BAR! I added guacamole and a great green sauce to mine with extra cilantro and onions and tomatoes. This place used to have a great salsa bar. They have rightfully closed due to the times we are in. One of the things I noticed after we sat down to look at the menu is how expansive it is. I think the menu could use a make over, simplify it, do a dozen things very well instead of 75 offerings that would take you 30 minutes to read through. We placed our orders, one california steak burrito, one chicken taco salad, a side of rice and two cokes. Food was out in minutes, you can rest assured it was not cooked to order but cooked way ahead and assembled to order. It was luke warm. Portions were more than either of us could eat, and I hadn't eaten in 11 hours. All of that to say this, upon getting home directly afterwards both of us raced to the bathrooms. Was it the salsa that was the only thing we shared? Was it the dishes not being rinsed well? Or was it the prepped and previously cooked and held proteins. We may never know, unfortunately will not go back to find out either. I can see why others rate this place highly, the portion to money ratio is very good. I expect more for my money, not more food. The menu is pretty standard for Mexican restaurants. The list of combos has 35 options and there are two pages of other dishes. I'd never heard of tostaguac and that was pretty good. It was a fried, flour tortilla base with lettuce, guacamole, tomato and meat on top. That came in my #20 combo with a taco, burrito, rice, and beans. Needless to say, I left pretty full. This place is in the corner of the shopping center with TJ Maxx and Ross next to Repeat Boutique. It's kind of hidden and there are 2 big Mexican restaurants within half a mile. We have our old standbys with Mexican but had a wild hair and decided to branch out to this high-Yelp-rated spot. What a happy surprise! As we were being seated, we walked past a table of folks who had just gotten their food. One of the plates looked unusual and tasty, so I asked our server for whatever the dude in the plaid shirt over there was having. She pointed to it on the menu - the "real" Mexican food menu - camarones diablo (or something close to that). I asked if it was super spicy and she said just a little, so I took a chance. My guy went with tacos el pastor. It hardly took 10 min for our food to be on the table. The first thing I noticed? Portion size - huge! Second, how pretty my plate was. The shrimp were cleaned and split in half and served with the shell on (the only way to eat them so the flavor is intact, imo). The sauce was delicious with a small spicy kick, but not something that lingered or burned. Perfecto. Our server was friendly and kept the refills coming.
