We live about 40 minutes north of Chattanooga and we're ready for a cuisine change from our local options. After reading all the reviews we headed south and are pleased to share that everything and everyone we encountered were absolutely top notch...food was prepared perfectly from the breads, calamari, trout and swordfish; and the proportions more than enough to require a stroll along the river after the Chocolate chocolate cake. Our server was amazing and you can't beat the riverfront location and views. They don't take reservations and those negative reviews usually involved large parties and special needs that take time to accommodate. Check Scottie's out, and enjoy! I would have given 5 Stars except for the pay to park phenomenon and QR codes that can be just annoying and have appeared in every major city. Nothing is free anymore including parking. You're definitely paying for the scenery because the food was underwhelming. We ordered six items, and three out of the six lacked flavor. The gumbo tasted like canned chili. The stuffed mushrooms did not taste fresh and also lacked flavor. The calamari lacked flavor as well and was a big disappointment. The server was nice and set our expectations, advising that some of the items we ordered were more of an acquired taste, but we were still disappointed. There was a server change at one point, and the new server was not careful when delivering the food and spilled the gumbo upon arrival. We came on a Saturday evening. There were seats on the patio available right away. We didn't mind sitting outside because there was a nice breeze from the river. My homegirl brought her pup and they were very nice, bringing him a bowl with cold water. Our waitress Yaya was nice. However, the service was slow. It took us over 20 minutes to get our drinks once we ordered. Our appetizer (crab stuffed mushrooms) came before our drinks (it was tasty). Our dinner took forever to come out as well and it was warm. It was busy but it just seemed like other tables were getting their food and drinks faster. The experience wasn't all the way bad, just not what I expected. Food was good, it would have been better hot. My friend enjoyed the ribeye and broccolini. The collard greens were fair to her. Found Scottie's on the River while looking for waterfront dining in Chattanooga. The restaurant had very limited parking and quite a long wait, despite a fairly open dining area. The people managing the front did not appear to have the process very organized so we waited a bit for. Table after 2:30 in the afternoon. Once seated, our waiter was very attentive and food was served quickly. We ordered wedge salads, fish and chip and chicken Marsala. The salads and fish were very good, but the chicken Marsala was not my favorite. It is served "airline style" as my waiter put it (wing attached to chicken breast). Overall, the food and service were good. Would have given it five stars if not for the check-in process and wait. Ate by the water and enjoyed the view. read more

We visited today for the first time and had dinner, drinks and dessert on the patio. Our server, Luke, was warm and knowledgeable. I had the blueberry mojito and my wife had madam president for drinks - we'd order both again in a heartbeat. For dinner, we had the chop marsala and the black and bleu steak salad respectively. We enjoyed both and had leftovers to bring home. Our desserts were decadent: the crème brûlée and coconut cheesecake. The only thing that could have added to this experience was a nice view, and we even got that! Scottie's is located right in the river and we were able to take a walk along the river after. Scottie's for lunch offered both as well as excellent service! $10 for a cup of gumbo seemed high, but it was well worth it for the deliciousness I received. Deep, complex flavor, smoky and full of shrimp, okra and sausage with just the right amount of rice. Accompanied by a well-dressed side Caesar (the dressing oozed with garlic flavor and just a hint of anchovy) with perfectly crisp Romaine lettuce. This was a simple meal, elevated. Great vibes outside, immediate seating with open seating for outdoor spots, no bugs seen just heard. We couldn't see the sunset from the angle of the patio, but the vibes were high regardless. The food was great - our waiter had lovely recs and even brought us free hush puppies! So sweet! Scottie on the river next to the Marriott was the perfect stay for a quick visit. The drink selection and food items were excellent. Nice view for a group by the river. Our waitress was excellent and attentive. The drinks were delicious. The passion fruit margarita was my favorite. Calamari's were light batter and does not come with marinara sauce. Had a great lunch on the water at Scottie's. We sat outside on a beautiful day. Our server was Gracie and she was one of the best servers we have ever had. We started with some Not Your Ordinary Cheese Balls which are fried pimento cheese balls coated with sriracha honey glaze. They were delicious. I had five star service at this beautiful restaurant right off the river, hence the name. Kayleigh contributes to this wonderful service making our experience a delightful one. Kayleigh was knowledgeable of the beer menu and was able to suggest just the right beers for our pallets. We led with Oysters Rockefeller which was fresh delicious. My husband and I spent 4 nights in Chattanooga when we were visiting from Winston-Salem, NC. We ate dinner 2 nights at Scottie's and both times were fabulous. The first night Luke was our server and he was knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly. He made some great suggestions. Our entrees and my cocktail were great. A few nights later we had Kim as our server. They don't serve a Riesling wine so she went out of her way to make sure I had a wine I would enjoy. Totally above and beyond what she could have done. I'll admit I'm a little skeptical of restaurants that are attached to chain hotels (in this case a Springhill Suites). But the location and menu looked good, so we decided to take a chance. And we were glad we did! Not only is the the location along the Tennessee River, near Ross' Landing and the aquarium, a great place to enjoy a meal with a view (especially on a pretty day), but the food and service are excellent as well. We were having a late lunch so opted for sandwiches, although the entree selection was tempting, too. This is the only place I've ever seen mahi offered in a po boy sandwich (it's almost always catfish or shrimp), so I had to go for that. There was a really good sized serving of the fish, blackened and very nicely grilled, served in the traditional po boy format on a grilled hoagie bun with tomatoes, lettuce and banana peppers, and topped with an outstanding remoulade-like sauce (a chipotle aioli). We also had the FABB sandwich, which is fried green tomatoes, charred avocados, banana peppers and candied bacon with firecracker sauce. The whole sandwich was great as a novel twist on a BLT, although the candied bacon stood out even more for pulling it all together. Both sandwiches came with fries, which were good but made even better by their dipping sauces. If you like cocktails, try their blueberry mojito. The service here friendly, helpful and timely. Great location, food and service make this an excellent choice when in downtown Chattanooga. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't have five stars. Their oysters are never frozen, and are incredibly fresh. The FAAB was amazing! Perfect combination of flavors that falls apart in your mouth. Had an amazing meal at Scottie's on the River! I started with a dozen oysters--super fresh and full of flavor--then had a wedge salad and the firecracker shrimp. Everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The portions were generous too, which is always a bonus. Others in our group got the fish and chips and raved about them. The fish was fried just right--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside--and the house salad was fresh and plentiful. On top of the great food, the view is spectacular. Go to Boathouse instead! AVOID this sorry excuse for a business. We were a large family party with two elderly, immobile family members in a slight hurry before a prior commitment elsewhere and thus asked for a little extra time to get seated before the rest of our party arrived. We asked the incompetent juveniles working the host desk three times if we could be seated with several of us already present. They refused despite an open sea of empty tables. I then asked to speak to the manager, who finally stepped out of her lair after 5+ minutes. The first words out of her mouth were, "They were just doing their job." Not asking me for an explanation, no apology, no accommodation. We were rightfully annoyed and made that clear. The only thing she should be managing is her attitude. After finally agreeing to seat us, their "executive chef"/fry-cook appeared out of nowhere and just made the situation worse before asking all of us to leave. Common sense would've been to simply accommodate us. Not these clowns. Looking at other reviews, there's a pattern of rude, inconsiderate, unprofessional, totally out-of-their element individuals managing this place. I just feel bad for the servers missing out on good tips. And it smelled bad inside, so in hindsight we dodged a bullet by going to Boathouse instead. A proper business with great cuisine, kind service, and beautiful riverside views. The only recognition Scottie's has is that they're teetering on an ADA lawsuit. read more

We were a family group with two family members with wheelchair and another with walker. Restaurant was half empty as it was 3pm and we avoided lunch and dinner rushes. We found the receptionist and manager very rude and discourteous to our group of 13 with 2 in wheel chairs. After telling us on the phone that they could seat us with no problem it did not happen with many open seats available. They said they would have never said that.
