The decor is nice. I was not especially impressed with the food, probably because I used to live in Mexico. Salsa was watery, chips needed salt. My corn tortillas were rubbery and cold, I could barely taste the fish in the tacos. Rice was good though and the fajitas were good. read more

This is absolutely the best Mexican food in the county, if not the state. The food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. Brilliant cooks/chefs. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. Food delivery is timely and, I swear, it is ALWAYS delicious! The bar is well stocked and the margueritas are so good. This place is truly an Ashtabula jewel. We really enjoyed our visit here! The food was good, the decor was cool, and the service was excellent. We started out with drinks and chips with salsa. We liked it all! My margarita was huge. I ordered the enchiladas with three different sauces and they were all delicious. The rice tasted good too, not too dry. My boyfriend really liked his food as well. Im surprised to read any reviews that report anything but amazing food. We happened upon this place almost accidentally a couple months ago. The food was SO GOOD that I made a special trip (over an hour drive) just to bring my Mom for dinner. I've traveled in Mexico and had lots of Mexican cuisine in our area. This. Is. The. Best. PERIOD. We got takeout today while visiting with family up here. They had wanted us to be able to come up and try it. They said it was authentic and delicious. They were right. Three of my family enjoyed the beef burrito. My husband really enjoyed the fajitas. I am a huge fan of tamales and it's hard to find authentic tamales. I really enjoyed my beef tamal. My cousin liked her chicken chimichanga. We also got a side of guacamole which was really good with tomatoes on top. They also sent chips and salsa. Everyone enjoyed everything they had. They even had lunch portions on the weekend for an extremely reasonable price. Would love to come back and try other things. The decor inside was so cute. My friend loves Frida and she's planning a road-trip from Pittsburgh to come check it out. Definitely come check it out. read more

This place seems to be consistent the 4 times I have been there. The location has potential to be awesome, although do feel they need too add More tables and less booths. On to the food, the food is good and large portions. The Beer-tomato-hot sauce concoction, which I believe is the Michecleada ( spelling is wrong for sure) is amazing! One last thing on the location, because it is in a mall they should have one or two designated spots for pick up orders. read more

We were pleased at the quality and authenticity of their food. It truly was delicious. We had the street tacos, spinach enchiladas, and carnitas dinner. Surprisingly good! We were on vacation, heading for the Walmart, when we spotted this place and decided to check it out. My fish tacos were about the best I've had outside of California. Everything was fresh and flavorful. We'll definitely come back next time we are in the area. read more

This is great Mexican food for this area. The service was good. Was a little slow due to being under staffed. The food has great flavor and was well cooked. The place is clean and orderly. Kind of a hidden place in Ashtabula. Ate here twice and it was great both times with two different team members service. Take the time to go by and give them a try. The name tells you what to expect inside - the whole place is decorated as a shrine to Frida Kahlo and it is a beautiful tribute to her. I have been to this restaurant 3 times, and every time has been a great eating experience. The food is amazing and their margaritas are delicious. The guacamole is fresh, with fresh pico covering the guac. It is a pretty small serving though, so guac lovers may need more than one serving. The queso is flavorful and found in most of the meals. I have ordered different meals each time, and they have all been great. My all time favorite is the Burrito Frida Kahlo. It has steak, chicken, and beans and it is covered with pineapples and queso fundido (cheese and chorizo). The price is very reasonable for the quality of food - our last trip for 4 people with meals, queso, queso fundido, and guac was around $80 (drinks not included in that). If you are in Ashtabula and in the mood for Mexican cuisine, I highly recommend La Casa de Frida. read more

Both times we went the food was just not that great. My son ordered tacos and the meat tasted like it had been sitting in water all day, no flavor at all. The same meat was used to make my spouse's meal, which made him not want to eat. My meal was ok, but the quesadilla was so overloaded with cheese inside and out, it made it unappetizing. 5/10 would maybe recommend. read more

Stopped through Ashtabula on our travels and chose this spot due to having many vegetarian options listed on their online menu. We loved the beautiful artwork everywhere and could appreciate the nod to Frida Kahlo. Menu offerings included traditional and creative / out of the box Mexican dishes. Stopped early for a weekday brunch/lunch. Small lunch menu available til 3. Great food & service. Sat outside to enjoy the sun. Huevos con Chorizo was hearty, spicy and delicious. We loved EVERYTHING about this restaurant! The atmosphere, the staff, and the food were all fabulous! The owner greeted us at the front of her restaurant (didn't know who she was at first)- but she was so welcoming; (and might we add quite beautiful...) I was there with 5 teenage girls who couldn't stop talking about how good every tasted, and how their bellies were "full, but sooo happy" when we left. We live 3 hours away- but anytime we are up in that area- we know where we will ALWAYS have dinner! I put the address in my Favorites list! Terrible experience here the other night. Food was at best mediocre service was bad-unaware of 18% tip automatically being added to the bill-my fault I'm sure it's on the menu somewhere. But it was obvious that the waitress had no incentive to be good at her job. The next day I discovered sadly that being inattentive wasn't her only failing as she had failed to return my debit card. This was a party with friends but there was no alcohol involved Upon calling the restaurant I was informed " Oh yes , Brittany said you left it on the table" by the manager. Add lying to this lass's talents. The fact that I never signed the receipt doesn't mean she never gave it to me---------of course not! Save your money & time & stay away from this place. read more
