Just had to leave a review for this place because I had a good laugh while reading Yelp reviews while dining there. So I thought I would pop in for a more positive sort of review. First I want to say our server I believe his name was Chase was on top of it. He was very friendly, accommodating and energetic. I really wanted to like our food but some things were just kinda off , BUT BIG portions we could not finish anything. We started with the salad for two, it was beautiful & fresh looking but just was bland. Both the blue cheese and ranch dressing was devoid of flavor. The chicken Thai soup had amazing flavor but the chicken was just basically left over char grilled chicken breast that they cut into huge pieces and put in the soup. It was the type of chicken that would go on a salad. The chicken was good but just didn't fit with the soup. I was hoping for some more vegetables but there were zero. The truffle Parmesan fries were probably my favorite they needed some salt but felt healthy & homemade. My husband ordered the NY steak, he loved how it was cooked and loved the taste of the charbroil. So would definitely recommend that. The whipped mashed potatoes also he loved, they were kinda oily for my taste. Overall I truly hope they make it and read all their yelp reviews and make some positive changes :) Lastly the ambiance was clean, modern, comfortable booths and when we are driving thru the area we will probably stop in again. So if you are driving along the highway and want to check it out I would say give it a try. read more

I came around 4:30pm and was the only one here. The waiter was the best part of my experience, he was so sweet and always checking in. The kitchen staff was obnoxiously loud, which with an empty dining room was blatantly disruptive. As far as the food, it was okay, the steak had a great flavor and was cooked medium rare just as asked. They gave me a healthy portion of sautéed mushrooms and onions, and the broccolini was lovely. I ordered the Parmesan truffle fries but they lacked any real flavor and, rather, were under-salted. I decided to try an appetizer of cornbread and honey with butter.. but I wish I had skipped it. The cornbread is dry, there is no corn in it (which for me is a negative but some might like that) and the flavor didn't impress me. Overall, it's a very expensive place to eat to not really enjoy your meal. This is around our 6th time at Farmer Butcher Chef and first time at new location. As usual, the service was great, and the food was fantastic!! It first seems expensive but, when you factor in all of the food you get, it is a bargain! We got the trio. It was around $140. But the steaks were fantastic and the food fed us for 3 days! That works out to around $20 a meal! The steaks were tender and flavored better than chain steakhouses. The sauce for the crab cakes was unique with great taste. It's an hour drive but worth it. I was excited to come here. Came inside and became instantly confused. They have a conflicting theme when you enter Asian decor. Like a massive lucky cat and cherry blossom trees that lit up. Asian dragons on the counter and shelves. They were cute but didnt carry thruout the restaurant and Infouns that kind of confusing. But then there's a massive old photo of George Washington along with an oddly placed refrigerator that has big cuts of meat. There's just so much going on in the lobby that didn't tie together. Tbo, kind of gave me a little anxiety. The service was really nice. Every staff member that I met was welcoming and nice friendly -zero complaints. My food was ready a few minutes after I had arrived. I had ordered a size brussels sprouts and a side of pierogi. Brussels sprouts had the most potential they gave a lot of brussels sprouts, which were cooked perfectly and we're generous with everything they put on top of it... But that's where the problem was... on menu it read, "balsamic drizzled" Hmmm... Drizzled. These are more like brussels sprout balsamic soup. If it wasn't a takeout order, I would've sent them back. Wowzers, were they were swimming in the sauce. It wasn't that the sauce wasn't good. There was just far too much of it. made it un enjoyable. I didn't finish it If I could make a culinary suggestion to the restaurant, I would reword the description and iwn up to they are in a balsamic sauce and not call it a drizzle because there is nothing drizzled about this. I would not have ordered it if I knew it was in a balsamic sauce The pierogi... I was flat out, disappointed by this This says it was pan seared. I'm skeptical about this menu description. These look like they were flash fried. Either in the deep fryer, an air fryer or worse microwaved. I don't cook in the microwave so I really don't know what they would look like in the microwave But I do know what pan sear pierogi (we make homemade ones all the time) look like and these didn't look like that but they definitely did not appear to have any sign of being seared. Rat. They were tough and chewy on the outside with no buttery flavor that a pan seared item would have. I would not order this again. Inside of the pierogi tasted fine and the toppings the bacon and onions were plentiful, flavorful and we're done really nicely So- All I ate fully was the pierogi toppings. So for 43.10 (includes a tip) i had the MOST expensive dinner that consisted of a side of bacon and onions. As that is all that i felt was enjoyable and worth eating. read more

Oh boy, where do I start. We had a 5:15 PM reservation for four adults and a two-year-old. We were seated almost immediately, which was a great start, and they tucked us away in a side room off the main dining hall, which was nice with a toddler. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. Our server came fairly quickly at first and took our drink order, but when I asked for a water for our toddler, it didn't arrive until almost the very end of our meal. We ordered four entrées, along with two French onion soups and chicken tenders for our toddler. I specifically asked if the tenders could come out as soon as possible to help keep her occupied. My dad's French onion soup came out first as expected. My sister had asked for hers to come out with her entrée, which was fine, but when it finally arrived, it looked completely different. Instead of the traditional bread topping, it appeared to just have a plain dinner roll sitting in it. It was strange and inconsistent compared to my dad's. To their credit, they did remove it from the bill after we brought it up, which we appreciated. The chicken tenders still did not come out. After asking about them, we were told they'd be "right out," but then we didn't see our server again for another 15 minutes. When he returned, he said the kitchen hadn't seen the order. Even after that, the tenders were one of the last things to arrive, which was frustrating considering we had specifically asked for them first for our toddler. I understand that long kitchen times are not always the server's fault. However, there were several things within his control that were neglected. After our first round of drinks, he disappeared for about 45 minutes before asking if we wanted another. Waters were only refilled once the entire meal, and simple requests like ketchup for the chicken tenders never came. Basic attentiveness was lacking. It took well over an hour for our food to arrive, and when it did, the quality made the wait even more disappointing. One steak was cold, the fries were cold, the carrots were cold, and the lamb chops were extremely over-salted. While the slow timing may fall on the kitchen, serving multiple dishes cold is absolutely a kitchen issue and unacceptable at this price point. What should have been a nice dinner turned into nearly a two-hour experience. We didn't leave until 7 PM. With a toddler, that kind of delay makes a huge difference, especially when we had specifically tried to order her food first. For a dinner that cost over $200, the experience was incredibly disappointing. I was ready to order more drinks and enjoy the evening, but between the poor service, long wait times, and subpar food quality, I was too frustrated to spend another dollar. I'm not sure why this place has received such poor ratings on Yelp, as Google has it above 4 stars. I came to Geneva for a swim meet and this was basically next door. I got the French onion soup and a ribeye with green beans & a baked potato. It was great! My party also got the salmon & ribs and they enjoyed those as well. Highly recommend my choices. Went on a double date there last night with my brother and sister in law and it was the worst restaurant experience of my life! We all ordered our food at the same time and my brother and sister in law got their food in about 20 minutes. The server then comes over about ten minutes later to tell my fiance and I that something happened with our order and our food was just getting started but that he would make it right by us with the bill. My brother and his wife were done eating and had already boxed up their food by the time we even got our food! Then the bill comes and there was no discount at all. Visiting the wineries on a Sunday we were looking for somewhere to go for an early dinner and decided to try this restaurant. We chose to sit at the bar and the server was very attentive and informative. We decided to share a Tomahawk steak and couldn't have been happier. Everything about this restaurant was top shelf. My friends and I decided to finally try The Farmer Butcher Chef restaurant in Geneva. We didn't know that you HAD to have a reservation as it does not specify on the website. Everyone we have talked to has said the food here is amazing, but no one has mentioned the ridiculously long wait times for your entree to come out. We arrived at 5pm, we were seated pretty quickly and greeted by the waiter. We placed orders for appetizers pretty quickly and those came out within a reasonable amount of time. We then sat for our entrees for over an hour. When we asked to speak with the manager and question what was going on, the so called manager came out in a sweatshirt, jeans and a baseball hat. He then would not listen to what we were asking and became very combative. He was under the assumption that we were told when we sat down that because we did not have a reservation that the wait would be incredibly long for food. We were not told this, nor were we notified of it at all throughout the course of our time there. He then told us that our plates were ready to come out at that moment. This was 6:30p. I waited another 10 minutes after that and still no entrees. I had a previous engagement for 7pm that I could not miss, so I left without even getting my food order. My friends stayed behind and brought my order home. ​They explained that they waited yet another 15 minutes before their entrees came out and boxed mine up. I ordered the stroganoff, this is the most saltiest thing that I have ever tasted. I couldn't even eat half of it. The carrots were good, but nothing special. The beef parts were full of fat and not tender at all to try to eat. My friend said his pork chops were really good, but not worth the wait. Even after being berated by the manager, they made my friends pay for the entire meal even after 2 of us left because we couldn't wait anymore. If you feel like waiting for a very long time and not being treated like valued customers, this is the place for you. If you are expecting decent service with a friendly manager, please please go somewhere else. We will not be going back. First impressions are a huge deal in the restaurant industry. read more

Our dinner was very disappointing and not worth the price we paid. The service was very slow and at times we had to ask for items we ordered. We both ordered soup. I got my French Onion soup and the cheese was so burned it was not edible. I sent it back because although the soup had a good taste, the complete top was not edible. After a long wait we got our soups. My French Onion had cheese nicely melted but instead of putting that on the standard piece of toasted bread, as was in the original bowl, they put a whole hamburger bun in it that wasn't toasted at all and was just soaking up my soup. I removed that from my bowl to discover chunks of soaked bread from the first bowl. My husband ordered Chicken Thai soup. When his arrived, it was coconut based which was not described in the menu. There are various types of this soup and he would not have ordered it if this was specified. The chicken in his soup needed to be cut with a fork because they were so large and tough from burnt edges from cooking on a grill. There were also large chunks of lemon grass chutes that were not edible. After a wait we received our meals. No complaints about the beef stroganoff that I ordered except that it had white gravy and I expected brown gravy. My husband got the 18 oz. ribeye that was completely burned, with a black crust, on the bottom. Literally, a thick black crust! (we have a picture) The steak was definitely not 18 oz. It was less than a 1/2" thick and not very big. Surely not as represented by the raw steaks on display in the cooler in the front lobby. He commented that the green beans were the best part of the meal. Our bill with the tip was almost $150. For that price you'd expect to walk away full and happy with your entire meal. I went there Friday night(2/28/25) with two friends. Let's go in order: 1. The service was not good. When we got to our table it took 10-15 minutes to get a drink order. 2. Two young's guys handled our order. They were nice but seemed uninformed 3.It took 2+ hours to get our entree' 4. I ordered a pork chop. TERRIBLE. I didn't even finish the first bite. It was dry and hard. The green beans were under cooked. Yes, there should be a little crunch but these were crunchy. Not good. The dinner was taken off my bill quickly and I was given a free dessert. AVOID! 90% BAD and pricey for area!! Not a good night! First tried to call ahead for quick reservation, but no answer, decided to try anyway. Two hostesses up front were clueless, and said only bar was available. We agreed to eat in bar. After being ushered through a "pool table room?" , we were seated at the bar. Only two tops in bar, so we had to sit along bar. Ordered drinks and a beer. Beer menu didn't reflect what they had on tap, and server didn't know anything about the beers. After about 10 min we received drinks and placed dinner order-Steaks and Pork Chop. A FULL HOUR PASSES! No bread, no salads offered on menu, appetizers weren't appealing. Waitress/Bartender provided no info as to why it was taking so long! Two others seated at bar and received drink and food in meantime and were not even checked in on. Finally... dinners were served. Looked decently prepared , but small serving plates were overfilled, and a challenge to eat without sides falling off. Food was prepared as ordered, NY Strip steak and sides weren't hot, but edible. Ribeye was on target, pork chop was tough and bland! All were ample portions. Quality of beef steaks was pretty good, pork was not prepared well! Again delays for every request! Asked for check, 10 min before arrived. Bill was in error, so another 10 min to correct! Restaurant Staff was gathering at corner of bar but not assisting. No one seemed to give a $&@+ that we were dining at their establishment ...Not rude but oblivious and uncaring! Finally a corrected bill, credit card offered, (10 more minutes!) . Big picture- this place was horrible! if we could leave a negative we would. Food bad, service bad, bad price, ambiance, ehhh. Do yourself a favor stay away. Loves truck stop food will be better. Details -I don't even know where to begin. We called and made a reservation and when we arrived did not have it. Told us that they could not seat us but after a while said they found a seat. When we went in there were like 10 seats open. Through the course of the night no one else came in. We asked for a taste test of a draft beer and they said no...ok no beer then. They took our order right away and we sat for 45 minutes waiting on potato skins. They tasted pretty bad. We then waited for about an hour for our cheese burger and salmon. We both got green beans and they were a mixture of undercooked and overcooked beans. The burger was supposed to be medium rare and it came out charred. The bun and burger were burnt. I ate a quarter of it and couldn't do anymore....i have never not finished a burger!! The fries were so covered in salt even after wiping them off they were uneditable. The salmon was so overcooked we asked for a sauce to try and they said they only had a1. The mashed potatoes were good but freezing cold. The people next to us came up and told us they were there for 2.5 hours with their kids and everything was horrible for them too. They complained and they comped them a Diet Coke. We never complain but decided to say something. They offered us a beer. I said no... we can't even eat our food it so bad. They asked us if we wanted steaks, we had already been there 1.5 hours and our butts hurt so we said no. They ended up taking$40 off our $90 bill. Owner was there and never even came out. We went there after a volleyball tournament at Spire. Long day and hungry wanted to have dinner before going to hotel. We walked in and the girls asked if we had a reservation and we replied no. So the took us to a table and waited 10 minutes before someone came over for drink order. The food took a hour to come out. Mind you my daughter ordered chicken tenders , we got Crab cakes, Salad and thai soup. We got everything 45 minutes to a hour later and still not the soup. So we waited more for the soup. Finally came and it was horrible. Was like milk and chicken breast dumped in a bowl. We were there 2 hours for what we thought would be quicker. May have been the worst restaurant experience we've all ever had (party of 3 families). It's honestly hard to find the words for the whole experience. We had reservations and were seated in time, but overall we were there for 2.5 hours and everyone's order came out at different times. Nothing was coordinated for our party to eat together. When I called to make reservations for 9, I was told we could be seated at 745-8 PM and he couldn't do earlier bc he wanted to ensure that we had a good experience... well, that wasn't achieved. There were very few tables seated in main dining area and two larger parties in back room (one was ours). Bar had maybe 8-10 people seated. Starting with the ambience and decor- it's like a rustic steakhouse, decorated with Asian/ Chinese flair and some french influence. Super odd. The limited wait staff seemed very uninformed. Service took forever, rarely filled water glasses or came back to check on drinks. One person filled water but another person has to order bar drinks and they never came back. Drinks were good, when they came. All that above would have been tolerable IF the food had been acceptable which it was NOT! The food quality was questionable. It took a long time to get steaks. Some were cooked medium rare which was correct as ordered. Another filet was ordered medium and it was literally mooing / raw when it was served. We didn't get a choice of sides and were told "they are served family style and we'll bring several options". We didn't have a choice. French onion soup took forever. When ordered we asked for no bread in it, was told it had no bread. When it came it was full of bread as most French onion soup is. Steak fries were thick cut potatoes, and most were not cooked through. Pierogis were cooked well but topped with raw onions vs caramelized ones/ many just raw sliced onions. Chicken Marsala was over penne pasta that looked and tasted like they had dumped red wine over penne and added two pieces of chicken and some mushrooms on top. The table next to us had multiple chicken Marsala leftover and all 3 dishes looked different, with different sauces. The chicken piccata was the most egregious - they said it was delayed bc the "owner didn't like how it turned out, so they were making a new one". It came out about 10 minutes later and the chicken was raw when cut into - PINK inside, raw chicken. Totally unacceptable. We are all just hoping we don't get sick from either raw or ill-prepared or improperly handled food.... we were offered a free dessert board and some entrees were taken off the bill. We didn't want desert and they were almost insistent on it. We said no. We were told they were short on staff and the owner actually had been in the kitchen all evening helping. If that was the case, perhaps limit the number of people in the restaurant even more or even close earlier to avoid the experience we had. I would rather have been told, we can't accept more seatings tonight. It's a shame that restaurants can't last in this location. This place needs to get it together or get some help to fix some serious issues if they want to remain open. And with all of that, the women's restroom had water overflowing the toilet and all over the floor. Which happens, I get it, but it just topped off the whole experience. read more

We were underwhelmed. Had planned this as an anniversary dinner and here were the problems we encountered: Service primarily. Food was okay but not superb. First when I tried to make a reservation a month ahead, I didn't get an email back so I saw you could text the restaurant which I did but when we arrived, no sign of our reservation - had to show them my text. Then our server - said the only item not available was asparagus. We took our time to order and when my partner ordered the short ribs the answer was: We are out of those. Wine -no local wines offered When we asked the server what he recommended he said he really wasn't a wine expert. Food was adequate - I'd give it a B. We waited for our check and finally the server came out and said he had spoken to the manager and wanted to offer us a bottle of wine due to our delays. Okay we thought - fine. He came out later with the wine and said "So you didn't want the strip steak?". Wait - what? He had just served us our whole meal. Obviously very confused.
