Well its not the first we try it. Am start with that time the food was delicious! The service was nice. The place was kind of dark. So when I got the check I had the waiter breath down my neck didn't get a chance to look over. He then ask should I add the tip I said yes. He added $30dlls!! Didn't notice until got home and look at my receipt. So I decided to give it a 2nd chance. Thinking to myself am checking my check ! No screwing me again! Well, first bought the check and I look over its was a total of over $2000pesos ($130dlls) with food and drinks we never order or got. So I said oh this is not mine. Guy was very nice came and apologized and went to register and bought me the "right" check. He ask would you like to include tip? I said no we have cash. To be honest the food was okay nothing more this time! Well, checking the bill at home just cause, i was over charge 215pesos which is about $15.00. Very upset! That was definitely the last chance and no more recommendations from us! One start just cause the waiter was nice!

This place is more expensive than other cenadurias but the food was tasty and the service was great. Everyone that served us and other staff were so nice, polite and helpful. The came out quick and waiters were so attentive. The food was flavorful and was good portions. The gordita chile con rajas was spicy. They say you are what you eat so I must be a gordito. I ate the gordita de chicharron prensado so I must be a piggy. That was real tasty. They had a play area for kids with a staff watching them. Recommend this place. Credit cards accepted.

Chilaquiles unos pinches frijolitos y unos huevones. Amazingly delicious!!!

I like everything I've tried here. The desserts are great also. The whole experience touches on why people go out to eat.

I am looking forward to visiting again before I head back home.

Don't you just love it when a restaurant gets things right?…read more Owners Roberto and Rina ("Reina") Perez have figured out how to prepare and present home cooking in a commercial setting, and, in doing so, have shown that they understand the importance of "home" in that construct. Some of this is no surprise to me. Reina is cousin to Rodnia Attiq (nee Navarro), who, with her mother Rosario Sotelo owned San Diego's El Borrego for almost 25 years, until they closed their business at the end of 2025. Having been welcomed and fed many times with homely care at El Borrego, I'm not surprised that the family connection - and the warmth and hospitality included in it - extends to Cousin Reina. If you're having a bad day, it's worth dropping in for a bite to eat just so you can say "hi" to her. Between the food and the greeting you'll receive, you'll leave feeling better about things. So what to eat? Depending on the time of day and how hungry you are, you'll be pleased with Cazuelitas; Pozole Rojo or the herby Guerrero-style Pozole Verde; hearty Tlacoyos; large Enchilada plates; or probably my favorite Mexican dish, Mixiote de Borrego, which is lamb that's spiced, marinated and slow-steamed until it falls off the bone. I've eated most of those things and seen the rest on my fellow diners' tables. Especially now that El Borrego is gone, if El Centro wasn't a two-hour drive from my house, I'd be a regular, so that I could continue sampling the superb and wide-ranging menu at Antojito Como En Casa.

The first piece given was very fatty and barely had any meat to eat. The restaurant did offer to provide a different piece or entree item. The tuna was so tasty. Would have been nicer if there were some kind of sauce to go with it I thought. Butter, demiglase, chimichurri, something. The arugula salad that came with was too salty and too sour but the tomatoes in the salad was delightful. Is that grilled or put in oven for short time? Light warmness of those tomatoes really brought out the sweetness of the tomatoes itself, I enjoyed that very much. The salsa and beans that came at the beginning of the meal was actually really good. Wife ordered a hamburger, and wow. The meat was so so sooo salty. That's gotta be extra salted by mistake. There is no way that was prepared correctly. Tortilla soup was quite plain. I kinda wished there to have more depth in flavor. We ordered the signature tacos for my kid. I didn't try them but my kid liked it. Price was about $100 for 3 of us. And I feel that's a bit much for this quality of experience on this side of the border. 4 stars, I think is the reasonable decision on my part. Oh, but thank you for having English menu for foreigner like me.
