This spot is definitely off the beaten path, but the view is beautiful--perfect for a quick stop with a snack and some ocean breeze. The food was okay, nothing amazing, but decent for a casual bite. That said, be prepared for a lot of cats and quite a few insects, especially ants. We know beach spots come with critters, but this one had more than we've seen at other beachfront places around the island. Could've been a one-off, but it stood out to us. The service was good but the food the Pastelillos were not good at all the dough ughh I was expecting a crisp on it not sogginess ughh not good . The alcapuria was terrible I've never tasted one like this it was bad not crispy the inside was just not done drenched in oil awful. Then I ordered a picadilli that brought different appetizers not bad that's why I gave a 2 other than that I wouldn't have gave no stars. Sorry big disappointment. La casa de los Pastelillos is known for selling a foot long Pastelillos and from having SO much variety for their fillings. I had carne con queso, shrimp & lobster. SO delicious. (TAKE ME BACK!!!) The beach is located right in front of the restaurant so you can enjoy a cold beer while you wait for your food chilling on the hammocks!! I heard it gets extremely packed in there (it was empty when I visited) but be prepared to wait. Even when empty I still waited at least 20 min for my food. ESPAÑOL ¿Cerveza fría y pastelillos en la playa? SÍ POR FAVOR. Creo que este fue definitivamente uno de mis lugares favoritos en Puerto Rico. This place is very popular so the lines are huge, be prepare to wait. The restaurant offer site parking but not enough for all the people that visit simultaneously, but it is plenty of street parking. We waited around 45 minutes in line to order and 30 minutes more to received the order. The food was nothing special. The mofongo was horrible! The texture was completely off, like grainy. The chicken was very very dried. The Pastelillos were large in size but the filling was minimal. The pina colada was good. The morcilla was super good and spicy. The view from the place is stunning. Not great This place is not what they used to be. They are becoming lazy and expensive. They have a big menu , the Sangria is good and the view is amazing, that is why I am giving them 2 stars. 1 - parking is a nightmare, just park on the street. 2 - the line is crazy and the cashiers are extremely slow ( they keep talking to each other ) 3 - you can order the pastelillos by number but the cashiers doesn't even know what kind of pastelillos you are ordering. 4- after your order wait Time is 45 minutes or more..... 5- one hour for a blind pastelillos! !!!! First time visiting this place while we are on vacation in Puerto Rico. It was an hour & half drive from the house and it was worth it! I haven't had a Pastelillo in such a long time and this was such a great trip to memory lane I do recommend checking your order when it is going to be To-Go because the place is always very full and we are human so just make sure you have all your pastelillos I really do recommend visiting this place because you have a great view of the beach right in front of you! read more

While on vacation in PR my cousin told me about this place. We went on a Friday evening and it was not crowded. Please make sure when visiting this place to take bug spray because the mosquitos will eat you alive. I went there for their arroz con Jueyes. Was a little dissatisfied because the only way they had it was the Rice mix with beans, which they call "arroz amospontiao" excuse my spelling, my Spanish grammar is not that good. It was pretty good. I wanted "arroz junto con Jueyes y habichuelas guisadas" but they did not make it like that. I also ordered "maduros con carne de cerdo frita" and it was delish. My Mom ordered "Ensalada de Carucho con Tostones but my Mom said the Carucho was hard and did not taste fresh. The Carucho salad came inside an eatable bowl and it tasted just like the outer part of the pastelillos. Which I though it was great. My Mom did not finish her dish, she did not like it. This place is family oriented. Their specialty "Pastelillos" all kind of fillings and "Alcapurrias". They are huge in size! The view is amazing and they have hammocks for you to lay and relax after the meal. The beach is not for bathing so leave your swimsuits at home. Now for the worst part. As you can see by the pics is an open area and their backyard is the beach. So because is open all the street dogs and cats are roaming around. When I was there I counted 2 dogs and 5 cats. The dogs were dirty and sasnozos . I was afraid to leave my table (to get ketchup) in fear that the cats will jump on my food. A few times I had to shoo the dogs away. It was very annoying trying to eat and have dogs and cats staring at you. Management should really do something about it. I'm surprise to see in other reviews that no one has complained about this. I should've taken some pictures. Anyway apart from the animals is a beautiful place to go eat and take pics. When we left the place it was close to 8:30 and the road to take is pitch black. Make sure that your car is locked. Being alone with my Mom in our rental car was a little scary, but thank God we made it out OK. Will I visit again? CONS: For a non-busy weekday, 10 minutes standing in line to order was too long, and then another 20 mins for food to be ready definitely made us more hungry. Perhaps this was their tactic, which leads me to The PROS: Food was good, a lot of options on the menu, I ordered the Pastelillo Burger with tostones and it was something special, in my opinion. My annual trip to Guayama Puerto Rico from Las Vegas is not complete until I stop for lunch or dinner at this lovely restaurant. The food is delicious especially the well seasoned, tasty steaks they serve. If there is any one thing to beware of is... be careful where you sit to dine when the sun goes down. In my experience, the table closest to the beach & sand get a lot mosquitoes after dark & have a feast chomping on your skin! The ambiance was traditional. Located on the bay, it has hammocks in the back on palm trees. Now the food is average. Although the "Pastelillos" are big compared to the normal size, the ingredients are the same as everywhere else. I was expecting fresher meats or something that would make it stand out get the regular ones. However, they did have a huge variety compared to the "puestos" on the side of the road that one is used to getting them from. Get there early because the lines get really long. I waited about 20 minutes in line to order and another 15 to 20 to get my two Pastelillos. My gf tells me that the piña colada was good.
