Been coming here for over 15 years and the shrimp mofongo with Alfredo sauce hits every time !!!! The ladies that serve and cook here are always friendly and attentive. It's always a party with the Dominican ultime so expect loud music and hookah.

Ambiance was excellent, came for the DR Independence Day. The beans were like so good, with rice. I never liked beans but I was obsessed. Salmon was decent. Ny strip was way overcooked. But over all I'll def come again.

This place is close to my new place, so gathered a group of friends to try it out for dinner. We got a private room upstairs, which was nice and spacious. I shared a Mixed Platter appetizer with a friend, which included tostones, sausage, beef, pork, as well as chicken. The highlights were the satisfyingly crunchy tostones, juicy sausage, and succulent pork. For my main course, I decided on the Fish Mofongo, which was absolutely delicious! The white fish was perfectly tender with plenty of well seasoned sauce, full of bold flavor. The Mofongo was of excellent quality, and had bits of pork throughout. The mashed plantain was soft, with just the right consistency. The chocolate cake was tasty with smooth, rich, sweet chocolate frosting, along with moist cake. Service was solid. Our waitress was patient and accurate with the orders. Everything came out in a timely manner. I do think the prices are on the high side, but I would like to return at some point to try other menu items.

My friends and I stopped by this restaurant after getting dropped off in the Bronx and saw that they had great reviews on Google. I've never had mofongo so I was very curious to see how it was! I wasn't expecting the ambiance of the restaurant to be as fancy as it was. I was expecting a local, casual joint, but the prices and ambiance said otherwise. Seems like someplace to go to celebrate or have a night out. The service was slow but I am going to assume it's because there was an enormous party right next to us. The food also took a long time to come out, but the flavor made up for it. This was my first time trying mofongo and I loved it! We had it with ox tail stew and the stew was amazing. It was sooo flavorful and the ox literally fell off the bone. The actual mofongo (pounded plantains) also had pork pounded into it and everything blended like harmony. The mofongo on itself wasn't as great and a little bland but that's why the stew was there! I think I would've liked it less if I got a dry meat with it 9/10. I don't know when I'll be in the Bronx again but I would go again for this dish!

The best churrasco on the block and only getting better. Amazing staff and always a perfect piña colada every time.

Everything is so good, best I have had in a long time! Tres leches desert was really good too.

Authentic Dominican food. The options are very limited as to traditional Dominican staples, but the food was fresh and it was good. The waiter was attentive and polite.

If could give this place a 3.5 I would. I'm Dominican so I'm very familiar with how things should taste, and the food here was subpar. The quantity was good but just lacked flavor. We ordered a couple mofongos (dry and bland) and sancocho (aso bland.) A lot of great menu options and they give you an entire avocado if you ask for that as a side which is nice. But honestly, you're in Washington Heights, you can have dominican food every few steps, unfortunately this spot didn't live up to the hype. Also it is important to note, that they do not serve mangu past 11am which is crazy to me since they serve mofongo all day. I didn't understand why they also couldn't serve mofongo con los 3 golpes, instead they wanted to charge every single item separately and give 3 of each thing which was too much food. 3 eggs, 3 salami, 3 queso frito...why? Our bill was about $75 for 3 people, and no we didn't have drinks. Also, service sucked.

This was my first time going to LA Casa del Mofongo even though I've heard about this place for years. My impression walking in was that the place looked a bit run down. The downstairs side is divided into two sections. One side has a bar, and the other side looks more like a place for take-out. We sat upstairs, and it was not that crowded. The menus are on iPads, and our waitress was very nice and checked on us throughout our meal. I ordered the longaniza Mofongo with a side of fried cheese, and my friend got the churrasco Mofongo. I liked the Mofongo, but it was a bit dry, which is normal, so the extra garlic sauce on the side definitely helped. I liked that the Mofongo had pieces of chicharron, but if you're not into pork, this could be an issue. My friend said his drink was too strong but maybe he's a lightweight, I had a lemonade and it was very good. I'm glad I finally tried this place. It might be a good spot to try in the summertime.

Good place, they have a wide variety of Mofongos and the place is a good spot if you're into hookah. The drinks are delicious.

Hello Yelpers, recently heard that this place becomes a lounge after hours/ when the restaurant closes at 11 PM. Is this true? If so details would be appreciated. Thank you…

We were there just as the party (lounge) started and it looked good/ fun it was packed.

My friend is turning 17 should I bring her here? And how old you have to be to order hookah because some places allows 18 and others 21?

Here it's 18 but not too many places under 18. It's real good Resturant

Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared. Then came La Bandera Dominicana Braised beef swimming in savory gravy, yellow rice piled like a mountain, black beans doing their thing, and sweet maduros sitting on top like the victory flag. Simple. Comforting. Dangerous... because now I want it every week. Place gets busy, gets loud, gets chaotic... but it moves like a well-oiled machine. Years of experience and zero attitude. Just good people making great food. In a neighborhood full of tourist traps, this hole-in-the-wall is throwing haymakers. Sometimes the best escape in NYC isn't a rooftop... It's a Cuban sandwich and a plastic tray. And honestly... I'd pick that every time. #nycfood #hiddennyc #midtowneats

Wagner was great a wonderful personality and he made sure everything was to our liking checking on us periodically. I have been here before (the first time we did assorted appetizers) so but this time I dove into the dinner menu. The oxtail pasta was absolutely lovely, the meat was tender and delicately seasoned. I had the steak (I prefer my steak more on the well side) and the chef managed to keep it positively tender and juicy. Perched on top of a few slices of fried casava slices and a small side salad. You can never leave without trying the flan it's one of the best I have ever had. Service was quick and food was bought to us piping hot. The only down side is they oddly don't make pina coladas (it's the only thing I drink) and the restaurant was a bit too cold but other than that it was a lovely birthday dinner for my friend. Short on time, with just 40 minutes to dine, we thought we'd be wise to limit ourselves to starters and drinks. Greedily, though, we asked our server Carlos if he thought we had enough time for entrees. He said let's try! Trusting his wisdom and his consultation with the kitchen, we ordered the beet salad plus the langostino ravioli and the Chilean sea bass. To drink we had a strawberry martini and the guava and basil margarita. Every morsel was delectable. All of the dishes were colorful and interesting and robust with complex flavors and textures. The fish was cooked perfectly, light on the tongue. My daughter did ask for an adjustment to her drink upon first sip, and they accommodated graciously. We enjoyed our meals at an easy pace, got the check while finishing our drinks, paid via QR code, and made it to the show with 15 minutes to spare, satiated and satisfied. Regrettably, we didnt have time for dessert. So, good reason to go back SOON.
