Burrito Supreme and a Stuffed Sopapilla!
    Harry M.

A Stuffed Sopapilla Quest Worth Every Mile My wife and I visited La Casa Del Rey tonight, and what a fantastic experience it was from start to finish. My wife first saw La Casa Del Rey mentioned on Facebook, specifically calling out their stuffed sopapillas. She absolutely loves stuffed sopapillas and hasn't found a place that serves them in a long time, so naturally we had to investigate. We decided to turn the outing into a little micro-adventure. We set off from Central City on a quest for stuffed sopapillas, navigating rush hour traffic through the Denver metro area before finally arriving in Commerce City--and let me tell you, it was completely worth it. Right away, we were impressed. The restaurant is very well maintained, with attractive landscaping and a private parking lot. Upon entering this family-owned establishment, we were joyfully greeted and promptly seated. The greeter was high-energy, warm, and genuinely welcoming, immediately setting the tone for the evening. Our drinks arrived quickly, along with delicious chips and salsa. I also have to give special praise to our waitress--she was incredibly friendly, attentive, and kind. When we mentioned that we'd come all the way from Central City after seeing the restaurant on Facebook, she truly made us feel appreciated and welcome. With authentic mariachi music playing in the background, we looked over the menu and noticed a wide selection of great-looking dishes--but let's be honest, we were there for the stuffed sopapillas. We ordered one shredded chicken and one carne asada, both with beans inside (which, in my opinion, is the only way to go). My wife chose the medium green chili, and I went with the hot. The stuffed sopapillas were everything we hoped for. Absolutely delicious--fantastic flavor in both the chicken and the carne asada (yes, we shared). They were so good that we ordered a third stuffed sopapilla to go to split the next day. That should tell you everything you need to know. Even though we were completely full and satisfied, we couldn't resist grabbing an order of dessert sopapillas to go as well. We just didn't want the experience to end. From the moment we walked in the door until the moment we left, we loved everything about our visit. If you're looking for authentic Mexican food in a family-owned restaurant that makes you feel genuinely welcome and ensures you leave happy and full, La Casa Del Rey is a must-visit. We will absolutely be back, there are a lot of other dishes that we will need to try!

Very nice dining area appropriately themed for a Mexican restaurant. I met up with my friends and we ate dinner here. I ordered steak and shrimp fajitas. It was delicious! Our waitress was nice but didn't know that sour cream & guacamole came with the fajitas. I got charged $3.00 for about 2 tablespoons of guacamole, let alone another few bucks for the sour cream. And guess what the meal came with it already. We ended our meal with some sopapilla. Overall, great experience.

This is my first visit, and I left feeling very happy, very full and content at the ambience that was in this restaurant.... Service was excellent. We were seated immediately brought chips and salsa asked for our drink order as we wait for third-party to show up. I ordered the shrimp and steak fajitas. They came out, perfectly cooked steaming up the whole dining room as the waitress brought it to my table. I like the decorations inside it helped create the Casa Del Rey motto. We really enjoyed ourselves. We plan on checking it out again so if you're ever in the area and you've never tried it stop by you won't be disappointed. Thanks For The Read Until Next Time...

    Steak Shrimp Fajitas

Yesterday Saturday they state the fajitas are the best we ordered chicken and shrimp , nope we accidentally confused her she was new and got steak and shrimp we dealt with it but it was super crispy some of the meat was burnt , the shrimp was stuck to the hot plate tasted burnt , service was not good , i do have the app and come here alot , probably won't be back , my chili was really watery also which it never is so maybe Saturday isnt a good day for eating at this place .

Has potential, but really needs to work on the house salsa. As a first impression, it was very watery with big chunks of tomatoes, not very appealing. Margaritas need a lot of work, ordered the Patron special, they were of Patron, gave some other type of tequila, but tased like there was zero alcohol so not worth the price. The La Casa favorite had no red chili flavor to it. The green was OK, a little more flour flavor than chili. Just not sure we would come back for the price and knowing that El Jardin is down the street.

First time here and I loved it! There's an area to sit outside but we sat inside since it was super hot. Chips and salsa were brought to the table when we sat down. I got a the corona-rita and my friend got a house margarita with a steak chimichanga. Everything came fast and was fresh. The server was super nice. Some of the bad reviews are from takeout so I'll make sure I dine in when I have a taste for it again.

Located in Commerce City, close to Quebec and 72nd Ave. Casual dining with a full bar. We have been here numerous times and even celebrated my Wife's birthday in January here. They will accommodate large parties but you may have to give them some time we called ahead and gave them some notice but they don't take reservations as far as I know. Do offer patio seating as well. One of the reasons I like to go here is the smothered chicken fried steak I can't say I know of another restaurant that offers this dish. They have a large selection of different items including some seafood. The green chili is hit and miss as far as temp goes, I've had it to where it was crazy hot and I almost always order it hot and last nights chili was really more on the mild side. The mod asked how the chili was I explained my mild disappointment in the chili and he apologized profusely and offered to send some extra hot home with us and I declined. He did explain they switched chili vendors and were not happy with the chili and would be going back to thier previous one. And one last thing and truly this is a huge part of why we keep going back to this restaurant is the customer service. We were watching the manager interact with the customers as the were ordering to go food and picking up thier orders and he held casual conversations with them and seemed genuinely interested. He even carried a older ladies order out to here car for her even when she said it wasn't necessary. Those are little things that we get our business every time. So give this place a chance you may like you may not but we definitely haven't ever had a bad experience her and if you do let them know they will make it right!

Chile Relleno Plate Bean and Cheese Burrito

While our experience wasn't bad, it wasn't great either. If you're looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant, there's a much better place down the road. This was our first visit. We went during dinner time and they weren't busy! We were seated immediately and the staff were friendly and services were fast. I ordered the chile relleno's plate and a bean and cheese burrito. The chile relleno's are not your typical stuffed peppers. Mine appeared to be rolled like taquitos and instead of being stuffed with white cheese, it looked like they used the same shredded Mexican cheese inside as on the top. Unfortunately to top it off, my dish was still cold in random spots and only ate half of it. Everything is covered in green chile, whether you ask for it or not. Salsa and chips were served on the house. But if you order a side dip like guacamole as we did (which my husband and I thought was bland and needed more salt and lime), keep in mind it's about $7 for a serving the same size of the salsa. We only had 1 glass of water the whole dinner time. We were only asked if we wanted a refill only when we were getting ready to leave.

The vibe is great, sort of a sports bar feel but with a Mexican twist, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I got the Reunion Combo, and it was a ton of food. It had a chicken tamale and a crispy relleno covered in this really tasty pork green chile, a red chile cheese enchilada, and a ground beef crispy taco. And my other half went for breakfast. His breakfast was the mountain man breakfast and was full of meats, eggs hashbrowns, and Ken with pancakes, but he opted for English buffet instead. It also came with a side of toast. It was a very ample breakfast. My patty melt sure did hit the spot. It was a perfectly medium cooked hamburger on rye with cheddar, and Swiss melted with grilled onions and thousand island dressing. Instead of fries, I went for the mashed potatoes and gravy. It was comfort food to the max. My date also got the peanut butter shake. He slurped that down in a hot minute. He said it was wonderful. He offered me a taste at least twice before I noticed it was gone. There's also meatloaf on the menu as well as a pulled pork barbecue Frito pie and they have a Frito pie burger. It has that perfect "rustic-chic" Colorado vibe--warm, wood-accented, and welcoming--making it just as good for a casual lunch as it is for a weekend dinner. The Burger Battle * Bison Burger: This was the star of the show. It's lean but incredibly juicy, with a deep, rich flavor that puts standard beef to shame. * Pro Tip: Pairing it with the tomato bisque instead of fries was a game-changer. The soup was creamy, vibrant, and had a slight sweetness that cut through the richness of the bison perfectly. * Pub Burger: A classic done right. Two patties, perfectly seared, with a side dijonnaise that adds just the right amount of kick. It's everything a pub burger should be--messy in the best way possible. The side garden salad was surprisingly fresh and crisp, providing a nice light balance to the heavy-hitter burger. The Atmosphere & Service The space is beautiful--modern design meets local charm. We were particularly impressed by the service; the staff was attentive without being overbearing, and you can tell they take pride in the locally sourced ingredients they're serving. The Verdict Whether you're a fan of wild game like the bison or you just want a solid, high-quality cheeseburger, State House hits the mark. It's rare to find a place where the "side" soup is just as memorable as the main course, but that tomato bisque is worth the trip alone. I'll definitely be back for another round of that bison burger!
