Checked in at the Holiday Inn across the street after a long day of hiking nearby with my family. The employee at the hotel desk told us that this restaurant and another down the street offered a 10% discount to guests of the hotel, so we gave this place a shot since it was closer and we love Margaritas! Once seated, we waited about 3-5 minutes before someone brought over chips and salsa (not bad except we were 2 of 4 people in the establishment). We ordered Margaritas (mostly margarita mix, hardly any tequila [not what we're used to from "authentic" Mexican restaurants]). Ordered a shredded pork and veggie dish called sombrero. Meal was.. Okay. Warm. After eating but before we got the bill I asked about the discount we were told about. Server said it was only 5%. We were given the bill with no discount applied. When I asked about the discount he said he forgot and wrote "5%" across the top, and told me to proceed to the front to pay. I went, and *shazaam* there our server was again! Ready to ring us out, he looked at the check and totaled the bill without discount. I asked again. He applied the 5% and I asked another person (who came to fix receipt printer) about the 10% and he also said it was 5%. Overall: Okay food, bad drinks, shady/poor service... You get 1 STAR! Don't go here. Get drinks from local liquor store and hit up Arby's. read more

I might have had something good to say about this place, but I never got served. After entering the restaurant and kindly asking the staff behind the counter if they had a bar area, I was told (rather sarcastically), "Yeah, where it says 'bar'." Followed by an eye roll which I laughed off. I proceeded to walk back to the 'bar' area where I sat for a good 10 minutes. Two workers did come back and make eye contact with me but turned around and walked away. Don't bother yourself with this place. Head to Millstone down the road... At least they're nice. read more

Food was excellent. The special, pina la Cascada, my wife really enjoyed. The rest had fajitas, California burrito, and chimichanga, and all were excellent. Ask for the extra spicy salsa, that's the good stuff, the regular is bland. Margaritas were good too. Don't understand the bad reviews, definitely recommend. I never write bad reviews, but this place provided the worst experience that I have ever had at a restaurant. The food was okay (not better than chipotle, but it costs way more.) The waiter was rude and provided hardly any service. Additionally, I was supposed to get a discount for staying at the nearby hotel (10% off) yet the waiter told me they will just give me (5%) and when the bill came out they did not give me a discount at all! Back at my hotel, the desk clerk informed me that everyone else at the hotel has gotten 10% and my husband and I are the only one they gave 5% to. I don't know if I got discriminated against or if they were just low on funds this night and could not afford the regular discount. Overall I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone because the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. read more

The WORST mexican food we ever had. The rice tasted like soggy boxed rice. The refried beans tasted like over salted canned beans. The salmon and shrimp were gross. Twist cap and serve margaritas. The food is ok but quit going when I ordered a raspberry Margarita and was brought peach, I sampled it and then told the server I really wanted the raspberry instead. He took the sampled peach and dumped it back into the dispenser. I was shocked. read more

We were here in town for our honeymoon. Food was excellent, drinks were great but the service was horrible! We had four different people waiting on us, three of which looked to be high school kids. Our server that ordered our food stood at the table next to us talking to who seemed to be his friends until we were done eating. I ordered a Margarita that I never even got and I was so pissed when one of the servers asked about it I said forget it. I've worked in the hospitality industry before and whoever is the manager of these servers needs fired! Great food and drinks though I will give the place that! read more

I was a little concerned from the mixed reviews, but was very happy with the meal. I found the food to be good and generously proportioned. What really sold me was that they have seafood chimichangas which can be hard to find! The waitstaff was very pleasant and it was not a long wait for our food to come to the the table. I don't want to sound politically incorrect, but I have never eaten at Amexican restaurant where the staff wasn't friendly, until now. It was a slightly busy Sunday afternoon, but our server was bordering on rude. I have to admit I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food and would have chosen somewhere else but I went w/the majority vote. Having said that I will try to be objective. First--the margaritas were pretty good, a couple of the guys complained their beers were warm. The chips & salsa were standard. perhaps I ordered the wrong thing--Mexican style Salmon (don't remember what it was called) but it was completely inedible. Overcooked beyond belief and flavorless. My husband had fajitas--he's not a complainer, but he admitted he didn't care for them. I tied a piece of both the chicken & beef. Very salty and the beef was horribly tough. On the upside the guac was really fresh & good. The rest of our party had burritos & enchiladas which the said were just ok. We come to Hocking hills a couple of times a year, but I hope I'm not persuaded into going back to this restaurant. From what I hear there's not really many good restaurants in the area. I think a lot of people just stay in their cabins and make dinner. That's what we did the night before and it was great. Maybe just an off day--maybe I should have had another margarita. read more

So in casual conversation with a friend today he mentions eating Mexican food at a crappy restaurant on a stop during a trip to Athens this past weekend. Cuts into his burrito and finds a dead roach! What can I say? YUM YUM YUM !!! Great Traditional Mex food with tons of flavor and large portions at a price everyone can afford. The service is excellent and the ambiance is warm and inviting. They even have a large outdoor patio for summer time outdoor dinning. I love their choices of drinks. They have all sorts of beers, import and domestic and also mixed drinks. The keep a full bar. And have tons of seeing for large groups. I just can't go on enough about this place. I remember the owners way back about 20 years ago or so. The began in an old run down Rax Building. And now, if I am not mistaken, they own 4 or 5 different La Cascadas within Ohio and West Virginia. That alone should tell you something. Give it a try. If you are a tourist, this place is the place to go. If you want cheap Mexican food, there is a very brand new taco bell near Kroger. They are very good too for cheap prices. La Cascada is priced right for high quality. I would say most plates range around 8 or 9 dollars up to about 14 or so. Have fun !!!! read more

The blonde girl they have working there is a great waitress. This is absolutely the nastiest filthiest restaurant I have ever been to. We had a party of four on a Saturday afternoon. The entire time we were there we were swarmed with flies. We complained to the servers and the manager (who turned out to be the owner) and no one seemed to care. As we were leaving, we noticed that a dirty dish station was next to our table, and it was covered with flies. We pointed this out to the manager/owner, who didn't seem to care. We told him that we eat out in Columbus and have never had a fly problem like this, and he announced to the restaurant "congratulations to you" and "just don't come back", among other unbelievably rude comments. Nothing even close to an apology, caring, or interest in anything we were saying. I am a former restaurant manager and have never seen behavior like this from a manager, let alone an owner. My father in law, who gets along with everyone, previously had an altercation with the same manager/owner and would not accompany us to this restaurant; we should have listened to him. Needless to say, none of us will return after this and will tell anyone who will listen how awful the food, cleanliness and service is. This is the single worst restaurant experience u have ever had, and we gave them plenty of opportunities to make it right. read more

We love Mexican food and we were not disappointed. We were greeted with vibrant colors and welcoming staff. The chips were warm and the salsa fresh. We got the sombrero dish which was really good. The streak was very tender and the fried tortilla stayed crispy. We also got the flan to split and wish we would have gotten our own.
