We visited El Parian with a pretty good test group: my wife, our daughter Whitnie, her partners, two kids and me. Our dining challenges are always part of the equation. My wife has gluten and dairy allergies, while I bring a tree nut allergy and Alpha-Gal to the table, with a diabetes kicker just to keep things interesting. Fortunately, Mexican food is generally one of the easier cuisines for us to navigate. I had the chicken street tacos, my wife had the tostadas, and the rest of the table worked through a variety of dishes. Overall, the food was good and everyone seemed happy with their meals. They did get a couple of the orders wrong, but once we pointed out the mistakes, they were quick to correct them. Service was probably the weakest part of the experience. We waited a while to place our orders, drinks went empty a couple of times, and eventually we had to flag someone down to get the check. Nothing disastrous, but the service could definitely have been more attentive. The atmosphere, on the other hand, is pretty cool. The décor is colorful, with unique metal statues, and overall is polished and very much on point for a place billing itself around steaks and tequila. It feels more upscale and interesting than your basic neighborhood Mexican restaurant without becoming stuffy. It also worked well with two kids at the table, so I'd have no hesitation bringing a family. The atmosphere is nice enough for a casual business meal, and I think it works for pretty much any stage of dating, from a first date to an easy dinner with someone you've been with for years. We decided we wanted Mexican. And it's tough to find something that we're looking for. I'm an alumni of Don Pablo's. And a fond memories of Chi Chi's and On the Border. So we started looking around and my wife found this place. So we traveled to Lancaster Ohio on a rainy Wednesday night. We walked in and was surprised by the ambience. It was quirky, but charming. The staff was attentive and intentional. The chips tasted like they just came out of the fryer. The queso dip was great. We ordered our entrées with a half hearted Hope of expectations of days long gone. When the entrées arrived, we just could not be more impressed with the presentation. And then the food and we all sampled each other's. The taco meat inside the burrito was flavorful like it had been cooked on purpose. The monstrosity of a fajita that I got the chicken was kind of like a Hispanic version of chicken Parmesan. The steak, well prepared and the shrimp was incredibly plump and juicy. All the mixtures gathered at the bottom of the basin bowl just waiting to be dipped like a fountain of youth, the basin of expectation and it was to my utter taste buds delight. read more

One of the best Mexican restaurants I have been to and I have been all over Arizona and the mid west and hands down the best! We were out for Black Friday and that hankering for queso snuck up. The queso was very good and additive. I ordered the chimi with birria and my aunt had the tamale and chile rellano. My aunt commented that the margarita she ordered which came in a beautiful tall porcelain-looking cup and chile rellano was some of the best, most flavorful she has tried. For me, the same can be said with the birria chimi. The meat was seasoned and succulent and had a rich depth of flavor that made it easy to keep going back for more. I made a comment she needed to bring her husband and I wanted to return some time in the future. The only negative I have to say is service was pretty slow and the place was not too busy otherwise the atmosphere and the decor really set the vibe and tone and El Parian set a high bar read more

We don't frequent Lancaster much, but we wanted to listen to the Friday evening band in the park, so we got a seat on the shaded patio! It was the perfect location. A pitcher of house margaritas is only $12 before 6pm. They were fantastic and very refreshing! I got the chicken bowl and would order it again. The only down side that I saw about this place was the lack of attention to the restroom. There are two stalls. One was already out of order, so there was always a line on a busy Friday night. When I first arrived, I let the front desk know that the women's restroom was severely short on toilet paper. When I went back later, someone had put a box of tissues in the restroom because the toilet paper had never been refilled. Other than that, we would return again to sit on the patio. read more

We were so excited to try this place. We started with the traditional guacamole and it was basically just diced avocado with a TON of lime juice and pickled onion. We were not thrilled with it but no means. For dinner we got the fajita chimichanga (they asked if I wanted mixed and I said sure... they left out that it was an additional $4 up charge) the meal was delicious. Dined here a week ago at lunch time. El Parian never disappoints for quality food and great value. I ordered the Tlaquepaque lunch plate. four mini chimis, two with shredded chicken and two with shredded beef. These "minis" were a very nice size, fried to crispy goodness, and absolutely stuffed with filling. Smothered in cheese sauce with lettuce, sour cream, and tomatoes on the side. Everything here is fresh and excellently prepared. For the same lunch price one would pay at "the Bell" you can get real Mexican cuisine dine amidst beautiful ambiance and friendly service at El Parian. I have never been disappointed here. read more

Came in for lunch, on the early side (like 11:30a on a Monday), lots and lots of staff but horrible service. We were in a section by ourselves, near the kitchen, and a server (not ours) was texting on her phone and annoyed that people were being seated in this area Drinks took forever, same to get a straw. Tried to give the server back one of the menus and she just seemed perpetually confused. Food took a ridiculously long amount of time and they forgot the queso we'd ordered to start. He said in a grumpy manner $30.00!! I had to explain we needed a merchant copy and a customer copy of receipt. He finally gave one but no place to sign or leave a tip. The food was excellent. Tasty and hot. The service was TERRIBLE. I really wanted to love this place. I loved the Bistro when it was in this location. It's centrally located and a perfect stop when visiting downtown Lancaster. Our server, however, made it impossible to like this place. From having to beg for refills to never asking me how my food was to making sure my husband was ok...our male server ignored me. Was it because I'm female? Or maybe because I am a fluffier lady? Or maybe because I have short hair? Who knows--but it was absolutely apparent he had something against me. My husband even flagged him down for me after I had tried unsuccessfully and asked for a refill. He brought my husband (who had a full glass) a refill and not me! Lancaster finally has a good Mexican place. Love this place. Went there two nights in a row. Wife had the chicken enchiladas and the chicken was both tender and seasoned well. She loved them. The taco flight was solid all the way around. Normally not my favorite but the Al pastor was my favorite out of the 4 taco flight. The Birria tacos were great. I'd order them again in a second. I was super excited to get the grilled octopus. It was good but the doable sauce was a lil spicey for me. They have 3 other grilled octopus dishes and I can't wait to try them all. House margarita was just like most house margaritas at any Mexican place, sweet and not much tequila flavor. Very similar to lime Gatorade. Their Fresca margarita which was pricey at $18 but pretty good. Gonna keep trying different drinks but the food so far has been great. My wife and I went in for a late lunch. When I lived in Ajo, Arizona, my favorite Mexican food became Chili Colorado. Since moving to Ohio I have tried it in many Mexican restaurants. None of them even came close to what authentic Chili Colorado tasted like, That is until today. It tasted exactly how I remember it from Arizona.
