Looking for a place to eat near Hocking Hills on a Sunday our group chose to try La Cascada Mexican Restaurant in part because it was open and in part because it was nearby. We were able to be seated right away and able to peruse the menu that had lots of options. I ordered the veggie fajitas which came to the table sizzling hot and were served with a side of rice, beans, and shredded lettuce/tomato. The meal was not bad- pretty standard for a Mexican restaurant. Nothing really standout or impressive. The interior was a little grungy and in need of a facelift and a few updates. Microwave-to-plate quality over salted food and inattentive and downright rude service. I mentioned to a woman who brought our food out we hadn't seen the waiter since we ordered and need refills and to order another item a man I presume was the manager sprinted to our table in an emotional tirade nearly shouting saying they they were understaffed and the waiter isn't supposed to check back with us. Mind you at that time there appeared to be 3 people working front of house and 6 tables seated for lunch service. Pass on this place, plenty of better options in Logan. read more

Wish I could review this restaurant but we never even got a seat. We put our name on the list and were told there were five names ahead of ours. 30 minutes later we checked and were told there were still 4 tables ahead of us and we had at least another 45 minute wait. To be fair, it was cinco de Mayo, which the lady at the counter made a point to emphasize in a very rude manner. I understood there would be a wait, but over an hour for five tables??? No. But we also noticed there were at least 6 open tables (and we had seen several tables leave so surely they should have had seated more of the parties ahead of us by then). We pointed the empty tables out to her; and she then said they didn't have enough cooks working to be able to seat all of the tables... on Cinco de Mayo. We stopped here on our way home from Columbus. We expected delicious Mexican food. What we got was subpar to say the least. I had the chimichanga fajita. The food has little seasoning. The meat (steak and chicken) had not been marinated for the fajitas. The vegetables instead of being fajita vegetables were diced very small. The queso over the chimichanga also had no seasoning. It tasted and appeared watery. The small salad added to the plate was pretty to look at but frozen - yes, frozen lettuce. Totally disgusting. I had to add salsa to the beans. The rice was the only dish with any flavor. My sister had the fajita nachos. They brought out a very small plate with about 15 chips on it. There were about six bites of meat and again frozen lettuce on top. They charged $15.99 for each of our plates and the food nor the portions were worth $9.99 to be honest. Then they charged us $1 for an extra dish of salsa which they didn't even fill up a quarter of the way either time. I mixed some with my beans and used that as a dip because the second dish of salsa tasted "like natural gas smells" because they were using cilantro stems instead of leaves which they didn't even chop up completely. Also they charged me $4 extra for mixing steak and chicken and I got exactly three bites of chicken and four bites of steak - again not seasoned and honestly tasted like someone boiled the meat and then added it to diced vegetables. It was my worst dining experience in years. Honestly, the bright spot of the meal was that they had my favorite Jarrito - Tamarind. If you've read my other reviews, you know I try to highlight the pluses, but there were few. Even the server looked depressed and never once smiled. I think I might be depressed too if I had to serve food I wouldn't even eat. $42 was too much to pay for two meals that didn't really taste good. They need a new chef and to serve larger portions. Pro Tip: If you're going to charge for salsa - fill the bowl up. read more

I've had a lot of Mexican food, from Mazatlan to Azusa The former inlaws make some very good food. This places isn't bad, it's just not to my taste. The folks there were very friendly and attentive. I went in hoping to have a great meal, sadly I was not impressed. The drink was good, but the meal was disapointing. From my persective the meal was flavorless... I'm not refering to spicy-hot, but the overall flavor profile. Nasty,disgusting food. I used to semi like this place. I ordered al carte because I didn't want to spend a lot. I ordered a quesadilla with watered down canned chicken, a half one is the only size they come,they charged me 5.99 which it was 4.25. The food is not quality. My friend ordered small plate of chicken nachos again they were soggy due to the watery chicken. I am kind of going to give this a mixed review. The food was really good, but the service was pretty slow. We had to wait quite a bit of time for the check and we felt a bit like they just slammed food down on our table and then onto the next place and kind of just left us behind. I remember waiting several times throughout our dinner there and just thinking, do they know we are here? Then, when we went up to pay the bill the lady, asks, was your service o.k.? Ate here tonight, for the first time. The first impression was good. The place was spotless. Very clean! We were greeted nicely and immediately. The very good service continued throughout the meal. The chips and salsa were always filled, and the drinks were topped off frequently. The food was fresh and very tasty, with the exception of the rice, which was overly starchy and bland. After long hike we stopped by this place for food and the front lady was very prejudice and even thought they had empty sits we were told to our face our party was declined to be serviced . Because we look visibly different then their regular customer because our hijab (head covering) you should treat every customer with respect and service them. This is sad that we had to experience this kind of behavior in this day and age . Human is human regardless of how we look visibly we all bleed red and have the same physical feature. went to this place last week, service was terrible - had a waiter that had to be on the spectrum, asked for our drink orders 4 times, then another waiter had to bring our drinks. we didn't get the margaritas or root beers, yet they tried to charge us for that. food was mediocre, I couldn't get out of this place fast enough. Bill was 52, I left a tip of 5, should have just left nothing, then see my credit card today billed 60 some dollars, not only is the service terrible, they added an extra tip without my consent. horrible, don't go to this place. read more

My husband and I were looking to fuel up after an afternoon in Hocking Hills. We picked just the right spot! La Cascada has a beautiful, clean exterior when you drive up. Inside it is just as clean and cheerful. The restaurant has ample seating while still feeling spacious. Both our hostess and waiter were friendly and attentive without hovering. Perfect! Now for the food... YUM! While it is still standard Mexican fare, the flavors are much bolder and darker than your run of the mill Mexican joint. It was a pleasant surprise.
