I have visited this establishment several times, but after today I think I'll drive on by and opt to spend my money elsewhere. First complaint was the tortillas I have been receiving with my meals the last few months. It is now wrapped in a piece of foil. Okay, so it's to keep it warm?? What good is it to keep it warm if the tortilla is so darn hard you can't even wrap your fajita mix in it. Then talk about trying to chew it!! Oh my God - they used to have the best homemade tortillas as far as I was concerned. Not sure why the changes to their tortilla, but you can definitely tell they are no longer warmed on the grill, but thrown in a microwave and warmed, so they turn hard right away. Next complaint, what's up with the watered down green chile sauce on the burrito's and other dishes. You go one time and it is a nice thick sauce, go again and it's just like a few diced pieces of potato, some green chile and some ground beef floating around in some water! Are not all cooks trained the same so the food is consistent? Final complaint and reason for not returning is the fact that there was hair in my food today! Long black hair!!! Certainly didn't fall from this gray head of mine!! Few things ruin a meal like finding a hair in your food. This unsanitary incident absolutely disgusts patrons and causes them to question the overall quality of and cleanliness of the restaurant. read more

Was visiting a friend in Farmington and we went to this place on a Thursday for a dollar taco night. It was crowded with families and people but we were seated fairly quickly. It was very family Friendly A lot of young people we're working both as waiters and bus people and did a good job to keep the salsa chips and water coming. The tacos were okay we had a variety of different types and everyone seemed to enjoy them. I think I'd like to come back on a non taco night and try some of the different regular dishes. It was good but it wasn't anything for me to rave about and it might have been because of it being taco Thursday. read more

I ordered cheese enchiladas. My food arrived cold and the cheese inside the enchiladas wasn't even melted. The rice and beans were cold as well. I tried to catch the attention of the wait staff, but was ignored. When I went to pay my check, instead of taking my payment the cashier ignored me and instead was going through tickets to see if a tip was on them so that he could take the tip money and put it in the tip jar. When he was finished I told him about the problem. No apology, no offer of a discount and I was told the next time to be sure I told the wait staff. I can assure them, there will not be a next time as my experience there was dismal. read more

A very good Mexican restaurant and we went on a Thursday so it was dollar taco night and I love their green chili fries and Dürer Mexican shrimp cocktail party bus and on Fridays they have the Cajun boil and it's very good to know crawfish though but other than that it's pretty good, so we don't mind coming back! read more

I haven't lived in Farmington for about 15 years (yikes... it's been that long?!?!) but when I told my dad I wanted to go out for some good New Mexican food, this is what he suggested. It's been recently remodeled so has quite a bit of seating inside. I loved hearing my favorite New Mexican question, "Red or green?" as I ordered the lunch enchilada plate. Dad had the shredded beef tacos. Both lunches were fresh and tasty but could've had a lot more spice (c'mon, I come for that green chile spice, not for it to be tame!). The side of beans need some work. A lot of work. Overall it was decent, but my green chile craving has yet to be satisfied. read more

La Casita worked for us as we road-tripped through Farmington. It had big red booths next to big picture windows, all of which definitely got me in a favorable mood. The food was quite alright. Maybe it didn't blow us away, but I found myself wishing I could go back. I just ordered sides: a chicken enchilada with red chili ($2.50) and a cup of green chili ($1.50). Plenty for lunch. As another reviewer said, the green chili was pretty mild, but entirely okay for this green chili lover. (I should note we were coming from Utah where people have a weird different idea about what constitutes green chili, and I did not approve, so was relieved to get New Mexican green chili again.) My darling companion had the chicken taco salad ($7.95). It was tasty and ample, with a big scoop of guacamole, if on the greasy side of the scale. As we were leaving, I saw a gentleman get a Casita plate put in front of him. The refried beans looked creamy the way I like them, and there was a big homemade flour tortilla with marks from the grill. Homemade tortillas get positive marks from me. Oh, and they have wifi. As we passed through Farmington's very cool downtown quarter, we didn't see any place we wished we had gone instead. read more

3/20/12 My wife and I went here for lunch. the food was tasteless and the service was poor. to top it off they charged me for items that were not ordered or served and refused to take it off. when I asked to speak to the manager or owner I was told that neither of them were on the premises; however when I call 10 minutes later I spoke to the owner and she hung up on me. The amount in dispute is only $1.50 but they called me a liar stating that we did receive the items with no proof. I will not return and tell every one I know what happened. read more

we stopped by on a monday afternoon around 4:45pm. there seemed to be alot of seating available. there was hardly nobody in the restaurant. the interior of the place seemed real nice. the food was okay. the chips and salsa was good too. the chips were nothing special and the salsa was average. kinda hot for me but i managed. i ordered the chicken chimichanga with rice and refried beans. the chimi was just okay. i give it a 6 out of 10. the rice and beans were good. my wife ordered the beef fajitas. she said it was good. she gave them a 8 out of 10. we ordered some sopapilla's on the side ($1 a piece) and they were very good. we also tried the fried ice cream and that was good also. dinner for 2 adults and 1 child before tip was $30. the service was great. friendly service and since there was not that many people dinning we had some awesome service. we enjoyed our 60 & 70's music while we ate. lol. read more

Just moved here two days ago and my search for good menudo is over already. What a nice surprise at La Casita. Excellent service and great food. The chips and salsa are amazing. I'm putting this on my "Go To" list. The staff was so nice! I'm shocked to see the other reviews regarding the service. There was a steady stream of people coming in and they never forgot about me. Two stars for the food. It is good at times, but seems the last few months it's hit and miss. Agree with other reviewer about the HARD tortillas. They used to be nice and soft so you could scoop up the red chile and beans, your eggs yolks, or wrap up a fajita. Now, you can't fold them up without breaking, or they are to hard to even fold and worse to try and bite and then chew. Pretty sure they are throwing them in the microwave. Today for Taco Day guess they must have decided to change the salsa. It was down right nasty and looked like green baby poop! Taco had maybe one teaspoon of ground beef in it, but loaded with lettuce. One taco shell cooked nice, two taco shells so soggy with grease! The Sprite was great!! Waitress was waiting tables, serving food, checking on customers, and running register. I must say she was working her butt off with all tables being full and doing take out orders. Five stars for the waitress and all the other duties she was trying to fill in. I have a suggestion for the management. Get some more help, because it's darn aggravating when you spend longer time in line to pay your bill, than you do to eat the greasy corn tortilla filled with lettuce and other customers in line also commenting about the time it takes to pay the bill! People are limited to how much time they have for lunch if they have a job to get back to. Maybe you should purchase some of those tablets they have at chain restaurants for the customer to pay without having to wait. How long does it take to get your register repaired to, it has been months it has not been working right. read more

It's an average Spanish restaurant. Food is priced competitively and it's of average taste. The staff is friendly and we had a good laugh with our server....she drooled is what made it even funnier. I had the bacon cheeseburger with chile-cheese waffle fries. I've been looking for a chile-cheese fries for sometime and I finally found it. I imagine we'll be back to try the Spanish food. We also had the hot wings, which was over cooked and lacked flavor. Oh, the wait time was exceptionally long, actually witness a customer ask to pay for his drinks since it took too long for food. Came here to try the menudo but was disappointed by the flavor. The portion was good but the menudo was not spicy and it lacked flavor. I think it needed salt. I had to request cilantro for flavoring which is strange because usually that is one of the toppings for the menudo. Was given lemons instead of limes and a flour tortilla instead of corn tortilla. Requested red chili to give the menudo some flavor. I'm not ordering menudo from here again. read more

My daughter ordered a hamburger, no cheese. It came with cheese melted into the party so we sent it back, they attempted to scrape it off and brought it back so we sent it back, they cooked it so the remnants melted into the meat and brought it back it was burnt now. I'm a foodie new to Farmington and trying to make my way through the many Mexican/New Mexican restaurant choices. Seems like many consider Farmington to be lacking in restaurants so I'm determined to confirm or debunk such claims while being proactive about the paucity of Yelp reviews. With almost a dozen restaurants in this category in town, I imagine there must be some decent ones and I would have to say that La Casita is the early leader in the pack. We had dinner here on a Monday night which was obviously not their busiest time. Nonetheless, our server was friendly and attentive. I sucked down the better part of 2 liters of water and my cup never went empty. The reason for this deluge being...... I consider myself to have a fairly strong tolerance for spice but the salsa, as another reviewer stated, is quite hot. As in, if you are a weenie about spice, you probably should just ask them to bring some sour cream along with the chips. We ordered Francine's Special with green chile and the La Casita Plate with a mix of red and green. For the former, the chile relleno was one of the best I've had. As for the latter, the carne adobada was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Ground beef tacos and chicken enchiladas were all well above average. I usually gravitate toward green chile but was quite impressed with their red sauce and glad I ordered Christmas on this mid-summer night. It is true, as another reviewer states that neither chile seemed particularly spicy but as I was still recovering from the salsa's heat, this may be relative rather than absolute. Tough to say. In any case, the fresh grilled tortillas added a definite touch of authenticity and were perfect for sopping up the leftover chili sauce and the creamy refried beans. Finally, we are prone to ordering guacamole wherever we go and while La Casita was no exception, I can only say their guac was merely average. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised. The service is terrible. I went to eat lunch here with my husband and the staff forgot our order and did not even know we were there. We wasted 30 minutes and the interesting thing is there was only one other customer. And to make even more interesting they had 3 or 4 employees hanging out. I judge a good New Mexican food place by the salsa and the salsa here was delicious! It tasted homemade and the chips were perfect. I usually keep things simple and order ground beef green chile enchiladas. The green chile wasn't too spicy but that's okay! Sometimes you want to be able to enjoy and not sweat your way through your meal, right?! Ha! I really enjoyed the fresh homemade tortillas which was a nice break from the traditional sopapillas. We asked for butter and enjoyed nice warm tortillas with butter. Can we say YUM!!! I was starting to lose hope for good New Mexican food here in Farmington (Los Hermanitos and Si Senor used to be my jam, but no more for me) and I'm so glad my family suggested this place. I hadn't eaten here in a year or two. They also make delicious carne adovado!! On a Saturday night it wasn't too busy and we got our food within 15 minutes and the service was great! Very friendly! I just had breakfast there this morning and I asked what breakfast meal was most ordered. The server recommended the breakfast burritos, I took her advice. I ordered the sausage breakfast burrito smothered in green, when I received it I was shocked at the size, it was a big burrito. I ate every last bit of it though :) the chili was spicy but not overwhelming and had great flavor. My server was professional. I will be back and appreciate going to a clean nicely kept restaurant. Kudos to my friend who recommended this place to me. I never would have came here because of the location but I will be going out of my way once in a while. read more

I've never had such horrible service as I experienced here. After waiting 15 minutes for them to take our order it was another 35 before they came to tell us there was a "mix up" and the food would be out shortly. When they did bring the plates out one order was wrong and by that point one i n our party had to leave without getting to eat. Needless to say we will not be returning. read more

Went in labor day weekend Sunday afternoon. Ordered the combo plate one beef enchilada, one rellano, one taco, beans and rice. (hold the rice) I ordered an extra beef enchilada on the side with red chilie. My wife ordered the beef enchilada plate. As eating my food I thought it was ok, not great. I noticed I had one beef and one cheese enchilada. I stopped the waitress and asked her to check my ticket as to be sure I was not charged for two BEEF enchiladas. I showed her that I received a cheese enchilada and not two beef. When she returned she said the cook said there was two on my plate , at this point I'm getting mad because they are calling me a liar. I told her I showed her the cheese enchilada and didn't appreciate being called a liar. She said she would get the manager to discount my ticket. I explained its not about a discount and I would not be returning. A few minutes later a large man came out from the back saying he was the cook and manager. I told him there was two enchiladas, one beef and one cheese when I ordered two BEEF and I wanted to make sure that is what I was paying for. This guy seemed to want to argue. Finally I said I'm not arguing I'm paying and leaving. As we made it to the cash register this guy made a comment to someone and said I'll make sure he leaves. He stood at the cash register as we were paying and said he is also one of the owners. At this point I told the waitress she lost her tip due to him. If this is how they define customer service I would recommend everyone BEWARE. There is no customer service. The management / owner didn't even check my ticket to see if I was charged correctly for what I ordered and he is on a power trip. My wife said her shredded beef enchiladas tasted old. If you want good Mexican food and customer service go to Rubios in Aztec or Los Hermanitos. Unfortunately they were closed on this day. Stopped on a whim for lunch today. Everything was great. Chips and salsa good and spicy. My entree was enchilada plate, very good. My husband had posole and enchilada beef. Very good. Stopped by on my way home from Albuquerque to get a quick bite to eat. Don't think I will be going back. The special was chile rellanos. When I was given my plate I made a comment to my partner "this smells like cigarette smoke". After both of us taking a bite of our food it definitely tasted burned!! When I attempted to get someones attention, it was if we didn't even exist! I thought the gentlemen at the table behind my partner were going to throw their chip basket at someone, trying to get their attention. Ordered sopapillas and they were the greasiest things I have every had. I could have wrung a 1/4 cup of oil from them. Oh, and did I mentioned that the chopped potato in the chile sauce was almost raw!! This place has gone down hill and fast!! Used to love this place and avoided it after the fantastic waitress Rochelle left. Service was 100% better and food didn't come out of the kitchen smelling like cigarette smoke and sopapillas didn't look like they were drowning in oil. Christmas style. The chips and salsa served before the meal were quite good, the rest of the meal did not live up to the appetizer. The burrito was of good size, filled with an acceptable amount of molten slow cooked pork. The pork itself was blazing hot, apparently just heated up at Mount Doom. However the pork was not cooked in the unctuous red sauce we New Mexicans are accustomed to eating. It was simply pork with some spices added, the red chile on top was relatively flavorless, not much body, and the green chile was the maddening opaque green sauce that has too little green chile and too much corn starch rendering it heatless and sorely lacking in flavor. The management of every New Mexican restaurant needs to make a pilgrimage to Mary & Titos in Albuquerque and take note on how too make red and green chile. They are true culinary artists and should be the standard. The saddest part of the meal were the sides of beas and rice. The minuscule portion of pale orange rice was also in dear need of our friends salt and spice. Spanish rice should taste like spices, garlic, onion, and not just accidentally colored by the splash of red chile thrown into the pot. The pinto bean soup lacked any kind of flavor I have grown to expect growing up in New Mexico, little seasoning, no bacon, pork, or onion was detected it the making of these beans. Like I said, I want so bad to love these little home town restaurants, but the quality is sorely lacking. The restaurant was full of people, which indicates to me the lack of competition in Farmington. I like Los Rios as far as carne adovada goes, but they are crazy overpriced. One of these days a great New Mexican restaurant will take residence in Farmington. I am looking forward to that day. read more

I go to La Casita to eat at least twice a week. The breakfast menu items are available all day. Monday is rellano night, try the rellano with the ground beef!!! Delicious!! Have never seen them made this way in any other Mexican restaurant in Farmington. The chips and salsa are always good, and they make sure to keep the chip basket full and the salsa bowl full, as well as your drinks. Thursday night is Taco night! The place is always packed with a lot of familiar faces. I think you should start your meal with the fried ice cream, and if you have room left, then have some rellanos, tacos, enchiladas or a burrito. They say "eat dessert first" and after finishing a meal and adding a sopapilla with real honey, not the fake stuff, you won't have room for the fried ice cream! The staff is always very friendly, work together to make sure everyone is taken care of, and they are very polite. On a number of occasions, I have seen them give the homeless and street people a burrito and a drink, at no cost. You can't miss Friday night!!! They have a delicious shrimp, crab, sausage, potato and corn boil! Worth the money, you will definitely enjoy it. read more
