Our group was in town for over a week and ended up here a couple of times. The first time we went there we got a table right away. We lucked out as the place was pretty full already. The second time there was about a 10 minute wait which worked out great because I ended up discovering Baja's Awesome Beach Rides about a block away and booked a horseback ride on the beach for the following morning. The people there were very welcoming and service was excellent. The place was clean and orderly. Tables weren't too close to one another and the bathrooms were nice and clean which is a big plus in my book, I got a kick out of the large sign on the wall with funny phrases on it. It gave me a chuckle when I read, "Bill Gates never eats here" with the word never printed very, very small. And, "Two beer or not two beer" with the author noted as William Shakesbeer. I tried their coconut shrimp as well as some of their sushi rolls and it all was fresh and delicious. The second time we were there we brought some fish we had caught earlier in the day and they prepared it for us. Of course that wasn't the only thing we ordered but it was great to walk in with fish and let them prepare it for us. Timing was perfect on everything. From ordering drinks, to the main course, and dessert, everything was brought out just when expected. I was never having to search out a server. They seemed to be right there when I needed anything. Very attentive. For desert I ordered flan, which I prefer on the firm side. It was just as firm as I had hoped and had a hint more cinnamon than most which I really liked. We also had some of Pedro's homemade ice cream. It was a creamy and delicious treat. I give them 5 stars because they were friendly, attentive, served good food, had nice ambiance and, most important, were clean and organized. If I am blessed enough to return to Los Barriles I will visit La Casita again. read more

Tried this place a year ago, I did not like the food or would recommend this restaurant. I ordered a pork chop with arándano sauce, the sauce tasted like marmalade spread over it, so sweet and unappetising. I know people in town enjoy it, I didn't like my food, or what the other people on the table ordered either. read more

We ate at La Casita years ago at their different location. This time the setting was much more local and scaled back but the food was still delicious. I must admit that I prefer the previous atmosphere much more, but the new vibe is much more authentic. The drinks, food, service and presentation were all great. The 4 stars is due to the lack of ambiance for the price, which is not high -just more than I would expect for a "cash only" little local restaurant. The paella portion is huge- definitely serves 2+ adults. Great taste, but not nearly as much seafood for the volume of rice. I would eat here again. read more

I had high expectations here, after reading their reviews. I even came back after I showed up on Monday and found they were closed that day. On Tuesday my gf and I came for dinner and found a limited menu on the blackboard--no fancy tapas menu from the website. Board also said Cash Only. I had a C-note in my wallet so we ordered. We shared a shrimp salad and catch of the day (yellowfin). Both were nicely prepared but were brought to the table together. Maybe I should have asked for the salad first, but I noticed the next table got the same treatment. When I gave them the $100 US, the change was in pesos (very common). But I felt I was short-changed. The difference turned out to be a terrible exchange rate (18 to the dollar, instead of the current 20). With the ten dollar haircut on the exchange, I paid $74 US for a salad, entree, and wine. No value here, whatsoever. We should have gone elsewhere. read more

I give them 5 stars because the food is great and they were open tonight. Its low season and many places were closed tonight. My husband loves the sushi here. The service is good and sometimes Tim Lang sings here making it an extra special evening. Absolutely wonderful experience. This restaurant appears to be shabby from the street but once you are inside it is beautiful and the service is impeccable. When we walked in there was a fish being weighed on the scale. My husband immediately asked if we could purchase the whole fish. After speaking to the owner and chef they agreed to sell us a dinner package using the fish. The dinner included a plate of different types of sushi using the fish. It was a beautiful display. An Asian fusion salad with partially grilled pieces of our fish was the second course. The main course was a very large filet of our fish on top of potatoes and zucchini. There was rosemary and sweet plum sauce to top. The owner came over to check on us multiple times and even offered us a round of drinks. Horrible experience! I tried to make a reservation at this restaurant 3 times and they never got back to me until late yesterday. My husband and I were not seated when we arrived. After 30 minutes, another couple sat near us and the waiter chose to take their drink order first. After my husband mentioned we were here first, he said he understood and 5 minutes later decided to take the other couples food order first. We got up from the table and told the waiter we were leaving and he couldn't care less. The service is deplorable at this restaurant and the floor and area is dirty. My wife and I visited La Casita on a recommendation from a waiter at another restaurant down the street. We knew nothing about it but he was adamant that we try it. It did not disappointed. First, the restaurant itself looks as though it used to be a home and the patio where we ate looked like it was a backyard. The style was a mix between State Street in Santa Barbara and Old Town San Diego. It has a really cool vibe about it. Behind the back wall, they have a garden where they retrieve fresh vegetables for your meal. It's out of view and they don't tell you about it but I thought it was awesome. The service was great. The whole staff was friendly, attentive and extremely polite. There was never a point if feeling in need of anything. They offered suggestions of what they thought were their signatures and the food was on point. If you like sushi or sashimi, the Cerranito was on point. It's pretty spicy so if you can't handle heat, you may want to try something else. The seafood pasta is was amazing with plenty of shrimp, scallops, fish and octopus. Food here is fantastic and the staff is excellent. The sushi is some of the best I have had in Mexico. The salad was huge and my scallops were very tender and sweet. We there with a friend who lives in LaPaz and he eats there often. New Location in Los Barriles! It's fabulous! Best restaurant in town- really excited to have them here in our little fishing village. It's been packed for a week since they opened and we finally decided to stop I and check it out. Super cold, windy night but we got a seat right next to the propane fire pit in the middle of the room so we were nice and comfy. Tried the Derrick sushi role - OMG yummy! And the Seared Ahi to share for a main course, which was beautifully served and quite tasty. We heard it was a bit pricey but it was 450p before tip which at today's rate is under $30 including a glass of wine, so not too bad. We'll def be back!! read more

It was Sunday evening and no one else at restaurant but our family of four. Service was perhaps a little over attentive but excellent non the less. Seared sea bass was the best ever - had I known I would have ordered it too. My tsunami salad was good but a bit spicy for me. Fresh wontons with tuna tartare and they gave us extra wontons. The miso soup wasn't a successful fusion with shiitake mushrooms, clear bean vermicelli, tofu and seaweed- like Asians vermicelli with miso and lime; creative attempt that just didn't quite mix well. read more

La Casita was nice to accommodate us without a reservation, however our appetizer and sushi were forgotten. We continually watched plates of sushi being served to the surrounding tables, yet after an hour, ours still ceased to arrive. The sever was clearly over extended and we felt badly for him. When brought to his attention that our orders were missing he merely said, "sorry, many people" and did not offer to bring the items nor compensate us for the oversight. One of our best meals in Todos Santos. Cozy interior. They get very fresh fish, and the sushi rolls are delicious. We ordered the spicy tuna roll, asparagus tempura, and grilled oysters. Literally stumbled upon this place by accident and it was one of those glorious moments of chance. The food was outstanding! The dishes are incredibly creative, heavy Asian influences & everything so fresh. The Ahi Tempura was so much more that what we expected. I would probably say the Thai Shrimp Salad had the very best seasoned shrimp I've ever eaten. We met Sergio the owner and he was so fun. He even made a small desert to accommodate a dairy allergy. Wouldn't guarantee that as we were the last ppl there on a slower night, but just evidence of how special this place and the people who run it are.
