(Recensione in italiano in fondo)
We stopped by at La Cavallina as we were driving south on the A1 highway, and I'm so glad we did! A fellow Italian friend recommended this spot to try Florentine steak after visiting it with three other friends from Florence - that to me was enough.
The space is a bit crammed, not very intimate if that's the kind of experience you're looking for. But if you like the idea of sitting on a long table while peeking at delicious deli, cheese and fresh pasta made before your eyes, then this is the place for you! I was here with my partner during his first trip to Italy, and it was fun to let him experience the atmosphere of a quintessential 'trattoria', or 'country restaurant' - I felt La Cavallina checked all the boxes of the best stereotypes about Italy
We ordered a Florentine steak made from Chianina meat (the local beef Florentine steak is prepared with), but you can choose among a big variety of options (meats from North America and Europe at different price points).
Starters are for 2-3 people, so be careful when you order, or you might fill up too fast before your main course. Last but not least, the price is about half than what I saw in Florence years ago!
