If you want mexican food in the bay, this is the ONLY place to go. dont let its appearance fool you, its roomy, has excellent service, and the best tasting steak in town. we both got the steak quesadilla, full of tender delicious steak and lots of cheese, a side of rice, cheese dip, and the best chips and salsa you can get at a mexican restaurant. the biggest suprise up to how big their drinks are? the bill was only 20 bucks. Me and wife went ther tonight and got seated drinks placed order then nobody checked on us .was the first and hour .we paid for our drinks and left. Had to go to another restaurant to eat. They have gotten bad with service don't know whats going on but if I go in again and this happens I'm done. read more

Jose T, or at least that's what my receipt said his name was, was trash. He was the server with the man bun in 2020. As I was speaking to him he walked pass me. Service would indicate the customer isn't important. I held back on chips and queso, because I was going to get dessert. Just ignored me! My husband likes the food here. I think it is a little salty but the service is good. If you go Friday evening don't sit outside by the bar for dinner. The DJ they hired was playing music so loud you couldn't have a conversation. It was mostly families on the porch so the volume level was completely inappropriate for dinner (5-6pm). read more

Rock solid Mexican! I will say that it's the most authentic in the area. Service has always been excellent and the beer is always cold.

Service was prompt. Drink orders were taken promptly, as well as the chips and salsa. Chips were ok, not stale, but not fresh. Salsa was fresh, but needed to be "doctored up" to have the right heat, but had plenty of "zing" on its own. I thought $4.25 was a little pricey for queso dip. Entree's were outstanding. I had the Azteca Fajitas, the Mrs had the child relleno. More than we could eat. Good food, good atmosphere. Only disappointment was the $6 red banana daiquiri. read more

We have eaten at LaChula's for the last 4 years we love their food. My husband eats the steak fajitas and he loves them. When we have company from out of town we always take them to LaChula's. The only problem we have with the owner and employees is they act like they have never see us there before they never speak to us or act like they want our business. Very unfriendly but the food is good. It's sad that they can not be friendly. read more

For REAL authentic Mexican food, this is the place. A wide selection of dishes and combinations. The food comes out on hot dishes and plenty on the plate. We had a great visit tonight with our golf group. There were 15 of us and the staff (especially our server Iliana) took fantastic care of us. No one ever had an empty drink glass, the food came out at the same time and was sizzling and hot. We can be a handful because of our group size, but they took great care of us. If you're from the area and don't mind, pls patronize this establishment. This was my experience only. I LOVE to visit mom & pop places, in fact, it is a highlight of mine. I'm not sure what the heck this is though but this was my experience. Went around 3:00 in the afternoon. The place was pretty empty. Waited at the door looking stuck on stupid for a good 5 minutes until we were seated. The front door wait wouldn't have seemed so long except that I was in shock by the strong smell of cigarettes and filth. YES, FILTH HAS A SMELL AND A ENTRY DOOR TO A RESTAURANT IS NOT THE PLACE FOR it. It literally smelled like there was an open dumpster in the entry. I have no clue why ( and likely better off not knowing). I figured the cigarette smell was from the patio but was sitting beside it and never saw one person light up (so I assume it was coming from the kitchen). The service was shotty. Our waitress was friendly but there were no customers and we had to ask for a straw 4 or 5 times. The alcohol is half price from 2 - 5 but I'd actually rather pay full price (on what may or may not have been top shelf). My thing is this ... if the front of the house smells like a dumpster full of cigarette smokers, stain and likely mold visible on the ceiling and you can't even get a straw for 15 minutes after asking several people ... MOVE ALONG TO SOMEWHERE ELSE. These people obviously do not care about your business. The food was standard for a Mississippi Mexican restaurant. Anyone who has had a real taco will know the difference though. Tortillas cold, certainly not heated and definitely not homemade. WHO SMOKES ANYMORE ANYWAY??? DISGUSTINGLY GROSS!!! read more

Typical Mexican restaurant as far as menu and atmosphere. It's located very close to Hollywood casino where we were staying. The prices were good. We had lunch. My niece and nephew had the kids beef burrito which was ample food to fill them up for only 4.00. They ate every bit. I had a top shelf margarita which was tasty and potent but wasn't going to break any records as far as homemade and fresh ingredients. Keep in mind I was staying at the casino to use the pool so getting a decent drink there is impossible so it did make this margarita taste better. I also had a chili relleno with a taco. Both were good. The quacamole was not even edible. The worse I've ever tasted too garlicky. I liked the salsa which was different to me. It was thin but chunky with lots of cilantro. The cheese dip was good also. The service was awesome. La chula reminds me of every other Mexican restaurant around. If I'm in the area and craving Mexican food I would go back and give the fajitas a try. read more

Food here is hit or miss. I have my favorites (veggie fajitas) my husband and I split them and still have leftovers. My problem with this place is a particular employee, an older female server who has been extremely rude with me a few times. One Monday night (kids eat free) she was rushing to put my order in, and when the bill came, she had charged me for the kids meals because "my order was put in at 4:48, not 5" I was livid and didn't return for a long time.
