The food here was very good. I forgot what I got but it was a very delicious burrito with lots of flavor. The waiters here are very friendly, interactive, and welcoming. Don't believe the negative reviews. I read the reviews and was on the fence so I asked what was good on the menu, then I deviated to what I always get at a Mexican restaurant; cheese enchiladas with chili con carne and chicken enchiladas with tomatillo and sour cream sauce and I was nothing but impressed. Margarita was good. Beer was cold. Chips and salsa are made in-house and the salsa has a nice kick to it. And our waiter Christian was knowledgeable and attentive. read more

Went here for Father's Day meal (a day early). Do know any other way go say this, but the food was not good. In fact, it was beyond just bad, it was kinda gross. The refried beans were white (yuck). The relleno had very little meat and the breading was spongy. Service was not good either. We had finished a whole bowl of chips before our server ever came to our table. Only two sad pieces of ice floating in my ice tea. I'm a local. This place used to be good, but I doubt if I'll ever eat there again. read more

I've eaten here many times. The food was always good, even my picky kids like it. However, there have been multiple times when we've ordered for To-Go pickup and they gave us rancid sour salsa. This last time I did unfortunately ingest some before realizing that it was rancid. I ended up with food poisoning. The worst stomach cramps I've ever had, had me up for hours at night. Our food quality when we got it to-go was also just crappy. Everything was cold like it had been sitting for a long time. My husband's enchiladas were poorly made, my grilled chicken was terrible quality. I'm not sure if they just got lazy or don't care about quality control, but we will probably not be eating here again. At least I won't be in fear of getting food poisoning again. read more

We go to La Cima regularly. One night we went and got there around 35 minutes till close. Expecting to receive negative reactions, and having waited 15 minutes to have someone take our order Justin came by our table and we asked if we just weren't gonna get to order. He was so apologetic and took care of us despite it being close to closing at this point. He was friendly, and didn't make us feel like a bother at all! It was refreshing to have a young server like Justin handle a table so close to closing and have a smile the whole time and even have some conversation as well! What Happend? Great place for solid Mexican food in a prime location. Saw a couple walk out because they never saw thier server. I sat at the bar, arrived at 340pm to get the tri lunch special..took forever fir the waiter so when he finally arrived it was 420 and said Sorry no lunch special. I also order taquitos to go for my neighbor who just lost his wife and the waiter forgot the order and couldn't speak English. WOW...in this economy..this is not going to fly ..really sad read more

I was excited having this restaurant down the road from our new home. Unfortunately it was a disappointment. Upon entering it reeked of cleaning solution. I ordered chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. Chicken tasted like shredded canned chicken, had no flavor at all and had that pink canned chicken look. Not saying it was, I have no idea, just not what I was expecting. The sauce was literally sour cream shoveled on top with some shredded cheese sprinkled. My husband ordered fajitas. He barely ate them as he said it had a weird texture to the steak and not much flavor. Our other family that we invited along said the hot sauce just tasted like garlic. The service was subpar. I asked for jalapeños to give my food any flavor at all... we watched our waitress stand up front talking for a while before having to stop another lady to ask her. Instead of her getting the jalapeños she told us she would get our waitress. Our waitress was apologetic for forgetting but it added to the atmosphere and experience. I did not make this post for a while because maybe it was an off night. However, I have spoken to several people since that had similar experiences... so I thought this review would help steer others into making an informed decision when choosing to eat at this establishment. First time here. Came for late lunch and boy were we glad we found this place. Quickly seated and drinks and tortilla chips promptly brought out. I would have been satisfied just eating the chips as my meal. Thin and crispy served with a yummy salsa (not too oniony or spicy) and...added bonus....a black bean dip. I am not very adventurous so I usually stick with the basics. I got a chicken enchilada with queso blanco and a beef taco. Both were perfect. Some places do not drain their ground beef very well and the result is a greasy, limp taco. Mine was crispy and tasty. Rice and refried beans (some of the best I have had) completed the meal. We have been going to La Cima pretty consistently twice a week for the last 6 months. It has always been super solid and predictable. My daughter loves the quesadillas and my wife loves the nachos and the fajitas. I am partial to the wings believe it or not, some of the best I have ever had and I have eaten wings all over. Well the last two times we have gone the food has been very mediocre at best, cold food, small and soggy wings, overwhelmed staff. We will keep going because we support local but they need someone to step up and provide some solid leadership and QC the food. read more

So- moving to Van Alstyne- and we were told "you have got to go to La Cima". So we went- and instantly regretted it. There are places local such as El Patio - family run and 1/3 the price and much better food. We ordered two drinks from the bar- both were good - but very expensive $10-13 each. We then ordered Beef Fajitas- if it weren't for the decent margaritas - albeit overpriced- I would give these a negative star rating if I could. Tortillas were definitely not home made and tasted stale. Beef had that "fish scale" sheen too it that just reeks of cheap meat- and wow was it bad. There are SO many great restaurants in the Sherman/Denison/Van Alstyne area- why this one is so busy and so expensive and just so terrible I'll never understand. read more

Well that couple weeks ended up being a lot longer. So we went back again on a Saturday night, gift certificate in hand from March. She had the Brisket Tacos with a Coke and I had the Chicken Fajita Chimichanga with a Sweet tea. Service was very good as usual. They were pretty busy as well with almost a full house. For the past year, all my coworkers have expressed how much they love La Cima! So, I finally get a brunch date and a chance to see what all the hype is about. As, I drove up to the restaurant I was very excited. The drive up appeal is so cute. It looked more like an upscale country club. Our waitress, quickly came over an took our drink orders and returned with the strongest semi frozen margarita, I've had in a LONG time! She delivered us some salsa and charro beans, and then brought us some queso. Each one of these items, were TERRIBLE. The salsa tasted like ketchup. The beans- gross! (They need to contact GLORIAS, for their assistance) And, I didn't even know what the queso was... I thought it was pudding! Well, anyway- I ordered the veggie enchiladas with rice and beans. Unfortunately, I substituted the tomato topping for the "queso" before tasting it! Soon after, we all had a few beers & our waitress, for some reason- said, she was cutting me off soon.. I have no idea why but, the food was disgusting so I was ready to go anyway. I did order a to go order of bacon wrapped shrimp, for my husband and he said they were pretty good. The next time my coworkers say how much they love La Cima... I'm just gonna laugh, because they obviously haven't had good authentic Mexican food. read more
