Shantay answered all of my questions (and I had LOTS of questions) and offered lots of advice. She let me run with my own ideas but also offered help whenever I asked for it. I really liked that Shantay emailed me about a month before to check in with me and see how I was doing and she did this about a week before my wedding as well. She asked my opinions about things I would have never thought of and gave great suggestions. As soon as she had all of my vendor's info she was in contact with them setting up a time line for the deliveries as well as the pickup. On the day of the wedding she checked on me a few times to see how I was doing and how I felt everything was going. I love that she kept in contact so much - even day of! She had my timeline on her at all times and when we were ahead of schedule, I got to choose how to fill the time, which I so appreciated. Most of our families were from out of town so we didn't have anyone to collect the gifts and extras from the venue, luckily Shantay agreed to keep our stuff for us for a couple of days so we didn't have to worry about it. When we got our belongings from Shantay, she let us decide when a good time was, she brought all of our stuff to us and even helped us unload it! I truly cannot say enough nice things about Sunflower Event planning - I was probably the most relaxed bride in history because there was no reason to worry - they had everything under control! Marisa encouraged us to meet with her in person a few times before the wedding so that she could get a feel of what we wanted her to play. My husband is a huge music buff and would have DJ'ed the wedding himself if he could. I on the other hand, not so much! This made it pretty difficult for us, with my lack of knowledge and his high expectations. I assume this would have been a challenge or frustrating for most DJ's. However, not for Marissa!!!! Valerie is also very witty and has a style of humor where she's super quirky, but in a good way that makes you feel less shy and self conscious when you're taking photos and more willing to express your true self during the photoshoot. Her rate is also incredibly reasonable and competitive! Besides being an awesome photographer, Valerie is also really great in helping you with bridesmaid tasks during the wedding. This includes helping you with bustling your dress, carrying your gown train around, securing your veil to the back of your head, or pining boutonnières on for your parents/wedding party members. I was especially grateful for her in doing all the boutonnière pinnings as I had no idea how to do that and definitely did not want the added stress of trying to figure it out on the day of. One tip that I suggest when taking your engagement or wedding photos is to have some ideas of poses you want or have a list of the specific sites you want to take pictures at your wedding venue. I regret not doing this as, after the wedding, we realized there were a couple places we wish we had taken more photos at. Additionally, our wedding photos had many similar poses sprinkled throughout and I wish I had researched/looked at more wedding photos in general to get ideas of what other poses we could've done. However, considering how much details are involved in weddings, these are sort of just "cherry on the top" stuff which would've been nice to have but aren't deal breakers. And she really worked with me & my situation to make that a possibility, just cuz I couldn't afford much, it wasn't like "Oh, well here's a disposable camera & some hand drawn props by my 2 yr old nephew" I still got all the fun & glam of the photobooth experience. I also love how EVERYTHING is included in the price qouted to you... It's not like "Book now & it's ____!" Only to find out how much later "Oh, & there's a $200 delivery & set up fee" & then much later "And don't forget to include the $75 clean up fee" The quote I was given during our meeting was IT, no hidden fees, or unecessary charges as an excuse to get more money out of you. AND I love how everyone got hardcopies of the wedding, including myself. Some companies I looked up were asking just as much, but would only give you a CD to take home, nothing to be printed out then & there. It was a BIG hit at the wedding! I love how the pictures take only a few seconds to print (versus the ten years you wait when you take one at the SD County Fair), my guests got to have as many copies of a certain picture they wanted, & I also got a set of each one for myself in a scrapbook they made on site. The attendant was also super sweet, she was also incredibly patient with what few kids were at my wedding that COULD NOT STOP taking pictures, cuz it was THE BEST THING EVERRR!!! She even asked if I still wanted to keep pasting their pictures in my scrapbook,haha! Which was fine with me, & the end product is an awesome compliation of my guests letting their hair down (which was a rare moment for some) & getting to see other sides of their personality. We also had a traditional dragon dance performance in the front of the venue. The folks that run it (Kyle, Paige, Jim and Anthony) were really responsive and nice. Our party was the party of the century thanks to them!
