    Queso fundido
    Ellie D.

The "queso fundido" was just a solid lump of cheese...not even melted. Just cold and rubbery. I was super confused because queso fundido is usually a warm, creamy, liquidy dip. It also comes with chips everywhere else so you've got something to dip in the queso. Luckily, I had half a bag of stale tortilla chips in my cupboard. Unluckily, the "dip" was so solid the chip wouldn't penetrate. The chip did, however, soak up some of the grease puddle that had formed on top of the solid cheese. Gross. Huge waste of money. I had to throw it out. The tacos were okay, but overall, disappointing. There are better options in town at a similar price point.

Definitely authentic. Entry is through the grocery store. Your choice is carry out from a hot service buffet table or choose from about a dozen tables to sit at for welcoming waitress service. Dining area quite plain, don't visit for the decor there is none. Loud Spanish radio music from the kitchen and the help singing along sets the informal tone while waiting for your food. Choices are quite standard and tradicionals Mexicanos. We tried tamales for an appetizer. They were generously sized but not in husks. We thought they were fried before serving and found that unusual and a little crusty for our tastes. My companion ordered tacos and I chose the huaraches, carne asada. I found the steak a little dry. Not the best nor the worst meal I ever had so for sure try it for yourself it might be to your taste. We washed it down with modelo negra.

I have to say this place have the best guacamole ever! It's homemade. They have a store that is connected with the restaurant, it's like the one stop place!

This little grocery store and restaurant has the best guacamole I have had anywhere north of Mexico. Check it out!

The food is good but I sent my white boyfriend to get Barbacoa and they gave him the complete opposite. The beef was gross and with no salsa

The Wisconsin Room - Queen prime rib, brussel sprouts with bacon

We went for brunch on Sunday. There was a buffet of fresh shrimp, crab claws, oysters on the half…read moreshell, smoked salmon, deviled eggs with taco seasoning, pastries, baked fritatta, cheesy hashbrowns, French Toast, thick cut bacon, and large plump breakfast sausage. In addition to the buffet, we had the option of made-to-order eggs benedict, omelets, and Prime Rib. We each ordered a benedict, which came as a single serving, and we shared a dish of Prime Rib, which came as two 3-4oz slices. Everything was delicious and well-prepared, and our server was great! The Wisconsin Room is one of many beautifully appointed rooms in the American Club, and I highly recommend the experience of dining!

First time here. We were staying at the American Club for the weekend, and eating at the Wisconsin…read moreRoom was a must on our list. Food: The menu offers a nice selection of starters, à la carte options, and full dinners. The ability to add a wide assortment of sides is a great way to customize a meal to fit your tastes. We started with a couple of specialty cocktails, the Whistle Stop Old Fashioned and the Hemingway Daiquiri. Both were nicely made and delicious. We do not normally order bread service, but my wife was famished, so we started with the House Special Duck Fat Parker Rolls. Wow. They were amazing. The crust was dark, crunchy, and full of flavor. They came with honey butter and a bacon jam spread. Next time I might try the Steakhouse Brisket Burger and substitute these rolls for the bun. For our meals, we ordered the Salmon à la carte with a Caesar salad and the Wagyu Short Rib dinner. The salad was nicely made with a light and flavorful dressing and good presentation. The salmon was excellent. It was melt in your mouth tender with a beautiful pan sear, which is a perfect combination. The Wagyu Short Rib was a different experience. This was my first time having this "Denver" cut of short rib. I was expecting a very luxurious, rich texture, but instead it was fairly lean and a bit dry. The outside was nicely charred and had a slightly ashen flavor, which was not unpleasant, just unexpected. On its own, the meat was a disappointment. Paired with the risotto and bordelaise, it improved considerably. Still, it is not something I would likely order again. We took our leftovers home and still had room for dessert, so we shared the Banana Bread Pudding. It was delicious, though the texture was more muffin-like than the dense, creamy style we usually prefer. The rum raisin ice cream was a very nice addition. Service: Like the rest of the service at the American Club, it was very good. The entire evening felt relaxed and well paced. Water and drinks were always attended to, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful when explaining items. My only small issue was the tone of the service. It was extremely upbeat, almost to the point of feeling a bit scripted or performative. I love enthusiastic and friendly service, but at times it did not feel entirely authentic. This is a minor criticism in what was otherwise a very good experience. Atmosphere: Like the rest of the hotel, the Wisconsin Room is full of character and charm. There is a strong sense of history in the space, especially knowing it was once the cafeteria for early immigrant workers. That adds a humbling and meaningful layer to the experience. The room was still decorated for the holidays, with tasteful greenery and ornaments. We would definitely come back for another meal.
