Korean Korean Steak Tacos, peanut chicken dish, steak and quail eggs tacos
    Ben W.

Just came across this place because it seemed like a local spot with great reviews and food options and me and my friend were not disappointed. So many options to choose from but the steak and quail egg tacos were great along with the Korean tacos and peanut chicken curry dish that really were all complementary of each other. Great flavor with a bit of kick! It's a must try if you stop in Sheboygan and prices are pretty good for what you get!

This is a discovery! I visited with my mom for an impromptu late dinner. The very friendly hostess was able to get us seated without a reservation, but I'd recommend them. There's not a lot of tables here. The decor is arty and appealing and comfortable. There's something to catch your eye everywhere. The drink list is interesting and ours were excellent. We both tried the Friday fish fry. We had a perfectly cooked walleye dinner with great Asian slaw and fries. I upgraded to the parm fries and they were terrific. The fry portion is generous. Service was friendly and attentive. I really enjoyed the whole experience from the minute we entered the door. I might just have a new Sheboygan favorite. They also gave us an amuse bouche of fresh pesto and bread and the pesto was amazing.

Biscuits and gravy with hand breaded fried chicken

We stopped in for Sunday brunch recently while in town for the weekend. Its a very interesting setup, a host stand and foyer in the middle with one dining room to the right and a smaller darker room/lounge to the left. We were ultimately seated in the darker room which was a little too dim/muted for my taste. I believe there was some staffing issues as we had to wait over 30 minutes yet there were open tables available. The long wait to be seated and the long time for us to receive our food led to me dropping my rating down a star. I enjoyed my biscuits and gravy. The additional chicken add on was very tasty. I appreciate the hand breading of the chicken as well as the housemade biscuits. A solid dish. My partner opted for the steak tacos. The tacos themselves were tasty but in desperate need of an additional tortilla to help provide more structure. With just one tortilla, it turned into a sloppy mess. Our server was pleasant but seemed rattled at the beginning (probably due to the aforementioned staffing issue). Improve on the staffing and seat us in the brighter room upstairs and I would return.

Looked into why even with 5 reviews (5 star) it was ranked #2 in searches of restaurants near our stay. There's a cluster of Hmong restaurants and a bakery on this block and more on the street! Went with the Hmong sausage based on prior reviews and got the stir-fry bamboo with pork for something interesting and a taste contrast. Sausage is moist not dry and uniquely paired with the purple sticky/wild rice. Bamboo shoots are more fresh rather than fermented (I know some prefer the complexity of the latter), but this does not ruin the dish - here the flavors are bright and complementing those of the basil. Noticed the tendon/pork belly soup at $5 and this is a must even to share. This is probably the core beef broth they use in their soups served with sliced beef tendon and pork belly. It's a great complement to the meal with a peppery (rather than spicy) kick in the broth. I enjoyed it with a little white rice mixed in. Wound up ordering a nava dessert rather than a drink for the same price. Good coconut base plus a beautifully arranged layers of colored tapioca, and cendol. Team service made sure we were taken care of.

I ordered two carnitas tacos and one lengua taco all of which were on point! The meat was tender and flavorful with a green and a red hot sauce served on the side that added just the right amount of heat and a nice added boost of flavor. They were served with onion and cilantro true to the street taco experiences I grew up with in Tucson. The rice was fresh - none of those surprise "crispy" grains that signal rice that has either been sitting out or reheated. The refried beans were fantastic and also reminded me of home. Even the horchata was amazing. Although the food was a standout what struck me most was the cleanliness of the restaurant. Clean tables, floors, and bathrooms all signal that this restaurant cares about details. Even the hot sauce bottles (which I am used to seeing cakes with old drips and drops) were absolutely spotless. I truly believe that things like this matter and suggest that the kitchen is also in good shape. Tye menu was a bit large and could be somewhat overwhelming so much so that I didn't bother to read everything. Besides - I already knew what I wanted. Service was friendly, prompt, and accurate. This place is an absolute MUST for when I return to Sheboygan and it receives two enthusiastic thumbs up from both me and my friend from El Paso - and both of us are experts on good Mexican food.

Like I said before, the sandwiches arrived the size of an adult's head. Jar dropping is a fitting description of what we looked like when our server placed the sandwiches before us. If you tell us the wait is 40 minutes and we are seated in 45 minutes, we won't complain. But if you say the wait is 10-15 minutes and we have to inquire about what's going 40 minutes later and it turns out you can seat us immediately, the front of the house management is not doing their job very well. (At least it was pleasant outside and we enjoyed strolling up and down the marina checking out all the boats while we were waiting.) Once we were finally seated, everything was fine. Our server greeted us promptly. Drinks were delivered shortly after we placed our order and the food came to the table not long after that. I ordered the brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad. Compared to BBQ brisket I've had elsewhere I'd give it a six out of ten, not bad but far from the best (but I really didn't expect a place in Sheboygan to top places in Kansas City or Memphis for example). I sampled all their sauces (none of which wowed me) before settling on one that brought a touch of heat to the palate. The potato salad was a tad one-note -- it needed a touch of acid and a bit more texture, I.e. crunchy vegetables. All in all, Parker John's was okay -- but I won't be rushing back anytime soon.
