I am here to tell you, this was the best Mexican food I have ever had in my life. Authentic tight down to a language barrier from the staff. I let them bring me what ever they wanted and it was unreal. Homemade tortillas and the beef was so tender and juicy.The queso dip was also amazing. This place is a hole in the wall in Montgomery Alabama but I assure you it is the best Mexican food in the state. This is, by far, my favorite authentic Mexican food place in Montgomery. The pico included cucumbers, which gave it an interesting flavor and wonderful crunch. The oldest had the tamales, which looked homemade. They are the best I've tasted while here in MGM. The hubby and I shared the 4 carne asada street tacos in the taco plate. The cheese dip was requested by the children and it did not disappoint. The toddler took a bite from his chip and immediately took a drink of his milk. It had some heat to it, but it was just enough to make cheese dip interesting and not be the same old white cheese dip you can get anywhere. The two youngest had chicken nuggets and French fries. Now, I was expecting frozen fries from a bag, but these were not. These fries were a whole Idaho baking potato, sliced and fried. It was as if I cooked them in my kitchen, only better. So delicious...and so good dipped in the cheese dip. Most places around here, you get you drinks in styrofoam or plastic cups, but we were served our waters in glasses and ate off very cool, square ceramic plates. I went here for the first time today after seeing all the positive reviews. Let me say that on the 5 star scale, this place is a 10. I lived in San Diego for almost 20 years, my ex-wife is Mexican American, born and raised in San Diego and authentic Mexican border food ... This is the real deal. Homemade fresh tortillas, all the trimmings, real carne asada ... And more food than you can eat. It's always a good sign, at any ethnic restaurant when the clientele is of that same ethnicity .... That is what you find here. Go.... Now ! Don't let the outside or the decor fool you ... The 98 on the health inspection license eased my mind but it is very clean. Authentic restaurant with the best Mole. Pico and Salsa are really good. We went as a large group and even though they are a small family restaurant they let us pay separate. Beer selection is bottles of everything a restaurant of its kind should have. If you know authentic Mexican food the location just lets you know that the restaurant will have amazing food. Ask for strong margaritas if you are used to making your own. The head waitress was switching between languages to cater to our every need. Surprisingly great Mexican food in Alabama. Carne de puerco en salsa Verde was fantastic. Asada tacos were really good too. Green salsa they served it with had a nice kick. Perfect...I say!! Perfect tamales. Chicken and pork-- because the chicken will simmer your mouth down after the spicy pork. I want some every day. Service sucks. But just get take out tamale dinner-- 4 tamales w/out rice or beans 8.95. Got over charged for 2 extra tamals20$$!!?!?? Wtf. The first time I visited La Coronilla I was not disappointed. I have a friend back home whose family is from Mexico and they made the best pollo con mole. I have struggled to find authentic Mexican food in Montgomery but this place is my newfound favorite! I ordered pollo con mole here and it looked, smelled, and tasted just like I remember! The salsa, pico de gallo, and cheese dip are wonderful as well. You can taste the freshness in everything you order. Don't let the outside fool you. Best and most authentic Mexican food I've ever had, anywhere. That includes anywhere I've eaten in Texas. Try just about anything on the menu and you'll be converted. What would you say about a restaurant that charges different prices than those shown on the menu when you go to pay your bill? When asked why, the waitress claimed the boss is making new menus, but the boss, who isn't there, forces her to charge the new rates and ignore the menu prices. What would you say if you went back to that restaurant six months later and the same thing happened again? This time the waitress gave the same explanation then added no one else has complained. That implies that the problem was us. Silly me, I thought the issue was that the restaurant wasn't charging us the prices shown on the menu. Or, maybe, no one complains because everyone isn't treated the same when it comes to prices here. We will not return. Food isn't the issue, but being treated fair is. I don't think this practice is legal nor is it ethical. I choose to spend my money at restaurants that play fair and deliver quality food and service. read more

Great little spot. I got the tacos al pastor. Filled with plenty of meat and seasoned well. Service was quick and friendly. The menu was exclusively in Spanish but with a limited understanding and a smart phone I didn't have any problems. Give it a shot if you are in the neighborhood. read more

Having come from California, it's hard for me to rate any Mexican restaurant as good but this place is delicious. Had the chicken enchiladas verdes and they were perfect. Rice and beans are good.
