We went to this Restaurant only because we're still trying to find that place & heard pros & cons so we decided to give it a try! The food tasted fresh, was bland on flavor, but was served hot. The chips & salsa were okay no real flavor in the sauce. The meals were generously portioned but honestly lacking the full authentic flavor were used to out west. We stopped here for lunch midway through our 5-6 hour drive home. The food was delicious. We split the Pollo Loco. Without us asking, we were provided with an extra plate to help us split it. It was so yummy! The service was truly excellent. The ambiance is great. We sat near the indoor fish pond, and it was relaxing to hear the sound of the waterfall. Located in the small town of Millbrook AL, El Cerrito Mexican Grill delivers delicious food and great service in spades! Thank you to all the fellow Yelpers whose reviews helped me find such an awesome spot to for some semi-late night eats while driving from Franklin TN to Birmingham. They started us with complimentary chips and salsa.. score!! We opted for the sampler plate appetizer, which came with wings, quesadilla, bean & cheese nachos and salsa (for only $8!). For dinner I got the taco salad. It was the freshest taco salad I've ever had. The shell was warm yet oh so crispy, the guac was superb, and the cheese and sour cream were the perfect amount. On top of it all, the service was outstanding. The manager even gave us stellar beach and hotel recommendations after we mentioned our travel plans towards the Gulf Shores. So we are regulars....we love the margaritas, back porch and USUALLY good service. We had to ask for chips and salsa - not usual. We received our drinks, asked for chips plus queso, received rather quickly. Then NOTHING. I drank my medium margarita with no one checking on us or acknowledging our existence. WTF? The manager is not present/ or who usually comes say hi. We paid and left. It's my birthday- it was suppose to be a fun night. I really wanted to like this place, but the experience was disappointing. Despite there being only three tables with guests and a few people at the bar, the service was very slow. Our server was nice, but the overall attention to detail was lacking. The Mexican guacamole was okay but needed salt and the salsa was watery. The vegetarian fajitas had little pieces of noticeable CHICKEN, which was a major issue since we ordered VEGETARIAN fajitas. When we asked the server if it was cooked with chicken, he initially said no--only to later admit that it was probably cooked after the chicken quesadilla entree and "only two pieces of chicken." That's not okay, especially for anyone with dietary restrictions. The onions, broccoli, and zucchini were burnt in both entrees. Overall, the food quality just wasn't there. With better attention to preparation and service, my experience would have been much better. I will never go back. read more

I immediately got warm homemade chips with fresh homemade salsa. The attentive waiter came back and checked on me and then put my order in and I was blown away by how quick my food came. When my family and I first got to the restaurant it took way too long to get seated, then when we finally got seated down we were ignored for about 30 minutes until we finally got asked what he wanted to drink. We got our orders in and it took way too long, we were sitting at our table for almost 45 MINUTES. Found this on Yelp while traveling and so glad we read the good reviews. The service was great and the food was delicious. The menu was pretty big and had some different items and not just the regular tacos, burritos, etc. We had a hard time making up our minds, but decided to split the chicken fajita nachos. The chicken was well seasoned and very flavorful and the grilled onions and peppers were cooked just right, not soggy as in many restaurants. Very pleased with our meal! read more

We have been here quite a few times. It's a good place to get some Mexican food. Service has always been great. It's a good place for groups to come and eat. Birthday night or just a party. Two of us had the spicy burrito, we did ask the waitress how spicy it was and she said "so-so".... Wrong, it was HOT. It was a good tasting hot, but hot none the less... what I want to focus on though is the margaritas, we had the 42 oz house and a 42 oz skinny. We stopped for dinner here because we were driving on interstate 65 and it was close to the exit and the reviews are good. We both were very pleased with the Tacos Al Carbon. The chicken was good but the steak was even better. Our server was nice and even offered us a refill of our soda to take with us. If we are ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to stop here.
